All of the elders immediately turned as pale as paper. The color drained from their faces so quickly that it almost seemed unreal, their gazes darting left and right in thinly veiled panic. The way they looked, it was as if the great trees of the forest had suddenly burned to ash before their eyes, leaving them with nothing but smoke and ruin.
Victoria was the only one who looked confused. Of course she was. She truly knew nothing.
Hades noted it silently as he watched her. When he saw his sister's sharp eyes sweep across the trembling elders, he could practically see the realization forming in her mind. The way her brows slowly drew together, the way her lips tightened. She was beginning to understand that she had been lied to as well.
"You were born from the egg," Victoria said slowly, her voice edged with disbelief. "How…?"
Her question lingered in the air.
Hades merely looked at the elders and smiled.
