Evangeline saw how the man blinked back at her, as if not understanding her words. She was about to repeat it when his eyes blinked wide.
"You were speaking!" He marveled. "I heard angels can't speak, that their voice is taken away from them if they are shut out from Heaven."
"Angel?" Evangeline looked behind him, worried that somehow a death angel had arrived and came to take her life as she had ran out of time.
The gardener son's chuckled, "So why are you up there, miss?"
Looking down, she noted that he was holding a long gardening fork and a straw hat on his head, clearly his works were meant to be outside the castle and feeling relieved, she confessed, "I was tasked to pluck these apples.."
