Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4: UNRAVELING TRUTHS

*Chapter 4: Unraveling Truths*

The days that followed were a delicate dance of silence and uneasy glances. Zhao Liang remained distant, as if trapped in a fog he couldn't break. Li Xue tried to reach him through small gestures—coffee left by his bedside, soft words whispered in the quiet moments—but the wall between them only seemed to grow.

One evening, as the city lights flickered outside their window, Zhao Liang sat on the edge of the couch, staring at the contract they had signed just weeks before. The words felt cold, like a chain binding him to a life he no longer recognized.

Li Xue watched him, her heart torn between hope and despair. "Zhao Liang, I know this is hard," she began gently, "but you don't have to face this alone."

He looked up, eyes searching hers for something familiar. "Who am I, Li Xue? If I can't remember my past, my feelings... then what am I really?"

She stepped closer, taking his hand in hers. "You're the man who promised to protect me, who believed in us. Even if your memories are gone, your heart hasn't forgotten."

A flicker of emotion crossed his face—fear, confusion, but also something softer, like a seed planted in barren soil.

"Maybe," he whispered, "this contract is more than a legal paper. Maybe it's a chance—a chance to rediscover who we were... and who we can be."

Li Xue squeezed his hand, a quiet determination settling within her. "Then let's start again. One day, one memory at a time."

As the night deepened, the silence between them felt less like a barrier and more like a fragile bridge—one that might just carry them back to each other.
