Theo shielded his eyes with one hand as he looked over the land of Asteria. It was ancient and alive at the same time. Sand met towering temples shaped like time itself had carved them to honor forgotten gods.
Palms moved gently in the wind like dancers greeting new souls.
Danielle's heart, which had been bruised for too long, fluttered softly. This place felt far away from pain, far away from nightmares. Maybe here her breathing could become normal again.
Frank had arranged everything. A private boat waited to take them down the river that cut through Asteria like a silver ribbon. The crew bowed as Theo and Danielle approached.
