This is a story that feels both complete and incomplete. It's about an Indian girl who often lost herself in her own world. She wanted to fly free, but her responsibilities tied her down. She lived in a village near Delhi called Vikaspuri. Her name was Rose.
Rose's life was never easy. Since childhood, she loved activities like dancing, singing, drawing, and studying. But life's difficulties always came in her way. Her parents worried about her future, forced her to focus only on her studies. She never really got the chance to follow her hobbies. Finally, when Rose turned 18, she was ready to spread her wings and step into the open skies. She wanted to go abroad for her higher studies—a dream she had cherished for years. Her parents supported her and sent her to America for further education. Rose was overjoyed. She wanted to explore the world beyond the little corner she had always known.
When Rose boarded her flight, her mother's heart was full of thoughts, her daughter was now going abroad to live her own life. Rose too felt deeply happy. After five hours, the flight landed, as Rose stepped off the plane, she still couldn't believe she had reached America. For her, it was a very big moment. But she had promised herself that she would study hard and make her parents proud. At the airport, Rose was about to collect her luggage when suddenly a man arrived with two bodyguards. In the rush, Rose accidentally bumped into him. The man looked at her arrogantly and said, "This is my luggage."
Rose didn't like his attitude. She replied firmly, "Oh hello, mister. We're all standing in the same line, can't you see that?" The man gave no answer, pushed her slightly aside, grabbed his bag, and walked away.
Rose felt very bad and muttered to herself, "What kind of man is this? Doesn't even have manners." She turned back, picked up her bag, and walked outside. Just then, the same man came out again, got into his car, and drove away, while Rose kept watching him quietly.
Rose's father's friend had also called a car for her. She sat in it and reached home. Rose's uncle's name was Kevin, he was very kind-hearted. In his house, there were his wife and two sons. The elder son was George and the younger one was Jack. The elder son George was very kind and good-natured, but the younger son was spoiled and mischievous. And Aunt was very greedy and miserly.
Rose's Welcome
Rose's welcome was done by George with great respect and honor. Seeing Rose, her uncle became very happy. He considered Rose as his own daughter. But the aunt was not happy at all. Seeing Rose, Rose understood this. Uncle told George to show Rose her room, so George went upstairs to show her. Rose liked the room very much. George said, "Papa decorated this room with great love and hard work." Rose said, "I feel here as if you are in your own home." Rose smiled and replied, "Thank you! I really like it." Then George said, "You take rest now. At 8 o'clock I will come to wake you up for dinner." Rose replied politely, "Thank you," and George went down.
Rose sat in her room and thought, "George has such good manners. He knows how to behave with girls, not like other boys who are mannerless." Then she changed her clothes and went to sleep.
Meanwhile, George and Uncle had prepared a special dinner for Rose. Jack had also returned home. Uncle told George, "Son, go and call Rose downstairs for dinner." George went upstairs and knocked on the door, but the door was open. Rose was sleeping. George quietly walked to her with light steps. Seeing Rose, George lost in her. George kept staring at her longingly, just the uncle called out, "Son, has Rose woken up?"
George quickly replied, "Yes Papa, she is getting up." But Rose had already woken up because of Uncle's voice. Seeing George sitting nearby, Rose asked, "You?" George embarrassed and said, "Dad calling you for dinner." Rose replied, "Oh, I'm coming in 10 minutes." George went down embarrassingly. After Rose followed him, at the dining table Rose met Jack for the first time. They introduced themselves and went silent. They are all enjoying dinner. Rose's uncle said, "Rose, tomorrow is your first day at college. You have to sleep early tonight." Rose replied sweetly, "Yes Uncle, I will sleep early, but I want to help aunty in the kitchen." Rose's uncle said no, "Sorry, I will handle everything. And sleep." Then Rose went to her room. George and Jack already went to their rooms. Rose is very excited for her college and goes to deep sleep.
The next day, Rose woke up early, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. Today was her first day at college. She dressed carefully, wanting to make a good first impression. At breakfast, Jack was already at the table, casually scrolling through his phone. He looked up and smirked, "So, ready to face the real world outside this house?" Rose smiled politely, "I think so. It will be interesting to meet new people and study in a different environment." Jack chuckled, "Interesting, huh? Just don't expect everyone to be as polite as George." George gave Jack a gentle nudge with his elbow, "Don't tease her too much," he said softly. Jack waved him off, "I'm just being honest. She'll survive... Maybe."
After breakfast, George offered to drive Rose to her college.
The College Campus
On the way, Rose looked out of the car window, absorbing every new sight—the bustling streets, tall buildings, and the mix of people from all walks of life. When they reached the college campus, Rose felt a thrill of anticipation. George walked her to the main building, introducing her to a few friendly faces along the way. But just as Rose was about to enter her classroom, she felt a tap on her shoulder.
Turning around, she saw Jack, leaning casually against a wall, holding a coffee cup. "Thought I'd make sure you don't get lost," he said with a teasing smile.
Rose laughed softly. "Thank you, but I think I can manage."
Jack shrugged, still smirking. "We'll see how long that lasts. College life isn't always polite like home."
Rose felt a small spark of curiosity. This Jack was unpredictable, confident, and a little challenging. She realized her days ahead would be full of surprises and maybe, just maybe, she would enjoy the adventure.
