It was totally Miu's fault… she didn't explain to him well, she didn't do the one job she was created to do, help new players… well, to be honest, she wasn't cornered or imprisoned by script and codes… she has her own direction, her own will… but she truly did it wrong with Lucius, she emphasized the wrong thing to him… and that's why there was that sudden change in his personality.
Like the feeling, the realization of it, that you are in the game that you conquered, that you topped… you are in it with all that you had, the skills, the magic, the whole ass character is you… and everything is real… and Lucius… he accepted the fact that he is in Eldoria as the Last Conqueror.
And with it Miu felt more pressure, more pressure from him… and she was still shocked by it.
She is a goddess, yet she felt the pressure growing stronger and stronger. What started as a faint, tickling sensation became something that tried to press her body down… and there was no way she should be feeling this much aura, this much pressure, from someone like him…
"A god?" She asked back finally, her voice low as Lucius was looking down at his hands.
"My character…" He curled his fist as he still looked at it. "My character was a max-level one with mythical runes, mythical weapons and accessories." He slowly looked up at her with that maniac smile on his face. "I… killed every boss, I killed every player that tried me, I even wiped out a whole guild… I topped the global servers… I obtained even the Elixir of Life…. I am a god in this world."
Yeah, she finally understood it… those eyes of his, the pressure he felt wasn't Lucius… no, it was what he was once… the only player ever who obtained items that topped everything in the game, the only player in the whole game who obtained the Elixir of Life.
"Khhhhh—hahahahAHAHA… I AM A GOD!" He looked up at the sky, arms outstretched, and laughed… that instant hysterical laugh paired with that smile… it was not a laugh of joy, but of chaos, wild and untamed, echoing into the clouds… then he looked once again at Miu.
And she felt it even more… that pressure was infused with darkness, the aura of a player with over ten thousand PVP kills, the player who had defeated Lurina's four hundred-thousand-strong army in two minutes, the player who had killed one of the Forgotten Gods… but that was the past.
"Oh, Lucius—"
"This is great… I can feel it, I can feel the power surging in me…"
"Lucius!" Miu shouted now and she finally got his attention. "Your character… was deleted when you died…"
"Huh…?"
"Yeah… what you feel is nothing." She said, but to be true to herself, she didn't understand what was happening, nor tried to explain it… the pressure and aura she felt was truly something enormous, so terrifying and dark that it almost infused her pure being…. maybe it was truly the player who he once was… NoobieBoobie23. "You are now the character that the developers scripted in the game… and what they scripted in is just a copy of your character without powers."
"No…"
His power trip ended quickly… but nobody could blame him for it, like dying and waking up in the game he conquered, he was the most powerful, anybody would have a power trip… well not anybody, people would possibly start tweaking out… well, he tweaked out on his own… thinking he is god… though it still was undeniable to some extent.
He was on the level of gods, but no more. Miu said it right, his character was scripted in the game, like a doll, and nothing more… and now, he was that doll and not NoobieBoobie23.
"But there is one thing that you have." Miu said though she kinda looked like she wasn't sure to say it out loud.
"W-what…?" He asked, becoming stressed, and of course, because he noticed Miu's worried face… a goddess's worried face…
"You are immortal."
Silence. Nobody said anything. Lucius's eyes were filled only with disbelief, his mouth even wide open… the kind of disbelief that felt almost traumatic.
But why? Why would he be scared of it, why would he be terrified by the fact that he is immortal… well, because it is Eldoria.
"Please tell me that…" He looked at her. "I'm not an Eldoria-type immortal…"
"It is Eldoria immortal."
As she said it, Lucius simply fell to his knees and his very being was shaken by the fact of what she just told him… that he is immortal… the Eldoria type one…
I'm fucked…
Why? Why does immortality in Eldoria mean everything but a blessing?
The answer is simple.
In Eldoria, nothing was truly immortal nor invincible. Everything could be destroyed or killed, even the gods and their divine powers there was even a quest to fight Miu.
And to be able to fight them, of course, you needed to progress, to level up, learn runes, new spells, new sword skills, learn your class as a whole, and everything an MMORPG has to offer.
In short, in Eldoria, nothing was immortal. You could defeat anything if you leveled up your gear, completed the highest-tier trial chambers, towers, and dungeons, completed hidden quests, or spent a lot of money—
With one exception… there was a time when immortality was a thing in the game… in an April Fools event.
To be true, it was more than an April Fools event and the developers truly did something unique, something that was fun for a day to most people… yeah… to the most because there the top two players of the event got something special.
The player who did the most damage during the event got a blessing while the one that would have died the most, well his game turned into hell for months and it was all thanks to the developer and their bright ideas.
