Chapter 11 - Fugui’s first night

An Nan appeared spent and emotionless: "Do you have a problem with that?"

"No, no, no, I just wanted to ask why you suddenly blocked me."

"Ying Er told me yesterday that you called us freaks."

"I know you're not that kind of person, there must be some misunderstanding between us."

"I came specifically to your 14th floor apartment to find you today, but you were not at home, so I had to wait here for you. Nan Nan, I..."

"There is no misunderstanding."

An Nan interrupted him: "I just genuinely think you guys are ugly."

Bai Wenbin was choked up, his face barely maintaining its composure.

Still, he struggled to control himself: "Nan Nan, I really like you, I hope you can give me a chance, even if it's just as friends..."

How could this man be so persistent?

After a busy day, all An Nan wanted to do was to go back home.

So she said, "I'm tired. If you have something else to say, let's discuss it at lunch tomorrow at 12 noon, in the Locust Tree Restaurant in Kuancheng District."

Upon hearing this, Bai Wenbin was overjoyed.

The Locust Tree Restaurant was famous for being a couples restaurant. An Nan suddenly inviting him for a meal there, could it mean...

Ignoring Bai Wenbin who had sunk into his daydream, An Nan took the elevator upstairs.

Sure, go ahead and rejoice.

Kuancheng District is the lowest part of the city, let's see if you can still rejoice after getting trapped in a flooded area tomorrow. Once back home, Annan put the puppy down on the floor and chose a dog house from her space.

Upon seeing its owner magically produce a den, the puppy widened its eyes and cautiously approached, sniffing at it with its

nose.

Watching the puppy's round chubby face displaying a look of astonishment just like a human, Annan felt a little amused.

"Silly dog, this is your bed. It's not poisonous."

As if the little white dog understood her words, it grunted in acknowledgment, then twisted its small hump to crawl into the kennel.

Wow, this dog is pretty smart! What should I name it?

Annan looked at it lying in its kennel, so chubby and lazily sturdy.

Let's call it "Fugui" (means Wealth in Chinese).

It sounds both prosperous and long-lived.

"Fugui"

Annan took out a handful of dog food and fed it to the little white fur ball, "From now on, your name will be Fugui."

Fugui made sounds similar to a little pig's grunts, wagging its tail and gobbling up the food voraciously.

After feeding the dog, Annan changed into home clothing and went into the kitchen to cook a bowl of sour soup noodles for herself.

While eating, she scrolled through her social media feed.

Everyone in her social media circle was exclaiming about the rain that poured today, which rescued the hardworking employees from the scorching heat.

Someone had posted a screenshot of today's temperature.

After a month of continuous high temperatures of 38 degrees, it suddenly dropped to 28 degrees.

Another person commented that the rain was too light, and it would be much better if it could rain harder, for longer.

An Nan looked at this post in her friends circle, and thought to herself, brother, you're asking for it.

This rain indeed would last for quite a while, but this brother probably won't be laughing then.

After dinner, An Nan stretched her body and practiced a set of boxing, before returning to her room to sleep.

Originally lying in the living room, the little Rich immediately got up and followed her in.

An Nan laughed while patting its head, "Quite clingy, aren't you?"

She took out a small bed exclusive for dogs from her space and placed it next to her bed.

Then, she turned off the lights and said,

"Let's sleep."

Perhaps due to the impending apocalypse, An Nan had a restless sleep that night.

In her dream, it seemed like she had returned to her past life, with Bai Wenbin and Qian Ying'er chasing after her with deboning knives.

She was running like mad, when suddenly a dark shadow blocked her path.

She looked up and saw An Xingye, who wore a sinister smile and said, "Good girl, go!" He then gave her a strong push, pushing her right next to Bai Wenbin.

"No!"

An Nan screamed and woke up from her sleep.

The day had already dawned, and Richí (Richiness) had at some point clambered onto her bed, and was currently gently licking her palm, seeming to offer solace.

A warmth flooded Annan's heart, and she hugged it close.

Everything from her past life had already come to an end. This time around, they would definitely live a good life.

She drew back the curtains, and tiny raindrops were still lightly pattering down outside. Annan first mixed some pet food for Richi, then headed to the kitchen and busied herself with preparing food.

Seizing the opportunity when their house still had water and electricity, Annan planned on making more food and storing it in the spatial array, to be taken out whenever required in the future.

She quickly settled her breakfast issues, then brought out all varieties of pots in the house.

Both the stoves were prepped with pots. The electric stewing pot was plugged in, and the oven and air fryer were also set to work at the same time.

Annan was delightfully engrossed in her cooking, and before long, she had prepared six dishes.

Each dish was in large quantities, which she divided into smaller portions and put them in disposable food containers she had purchased earlier, then immediately transferred them into the spatial array while still hot.

In such a manner, she continued this cycle, busy until past eleven when suddenly, it got dark.

It was noon, and although it had been drizzling all along, it had still been daylight.

But at this moment, a sudden darkness descended like a black cloud pressing against the town, plunging the city into utter darkness. As for the previously gentle drizzle, it had ceased completely.

It was here.

Annan looked towards the ominously dark scene outside the window. It was exactly the same as her past life.

At first, there was only a sudden darkness, then an hour later, a torrential rain would come pouring down, gradually submerging the city.

The room was pitch black at this moment, and Fugui, visibly on edge, huddled up to Annan.

Annan switched on the lights, picked up Fugui, gently calming him, then found a chew stick for him to play with.

Absentmindedly, he reached for his phone.

Weibo and WeChat were buzzing with activity.
