The next morning, Vivian groggily woke up to go to the bathroom and found her mom sitting in the living room looking troubled.
"Mom, what's wrong?" She paused her steps, walked bewilderedly over to the sofa, and poked her mom's shoulder, asking as she looked at her.
"Vivian..." Mrs. York raised her head, her eyebrows tightly knitted, and sighed, "The big lawyer from yesterday called this morning and said he's quite busy lately and can't take on your dad's case."
"What?? How come??" Vivian was slightly astonished, looking at her mom with some confusion, "Weren't we all good last night?? Even the price was settled, so why suddenly change his mind in the morning?"
Mrs. York held her phone in one hand and supported her forehead with the other, her voice filled with exhaustion, "Exactly, no idea what's going on, your dad tried to reason with him, but he just replied that he really doesn't have time; what else can your dad do after hearing this?"
