Chapter 7 - Chapter 5: Displaced Memories

You might not believe it when I tell you.

But a body can actually possess self-awareness...

Chen Lusi really didn't intend to jump down; he was already exhausted enough for the day, barely having time to lie down.

Let alone turning his hand into a blade.

Yet his body just started moving on its own, completely ignoring his commands.

Even though his mind wasn't affected.

He truly felt like a vegetative patient at this moment; the only difference was, although his body didn't listen to his commands, he could still feel it.

Just like a phantom limb.

And it's precisely because of this situation.

Personally witnessing the flesh of his right arm extend forward and gradually forming a thin and long blade... made it all the more horrifying.

The feeling was too strange.

The other people present didn't have much of a reaction when they heard him shouting.

They just turned their attention to his arm.

And after Chen Lusi 'examined' his right arm that had turned into a blade, he looked at the petite girl who initially charged at him and slightly moved his right leg back.

The next second.

He lowered his body and dashed towards the petite girl.

Although his speed couldn't match the girl's, according to Chen Lusi's own assessment, it was significantly faster than a professional sprinter.

Swish.

In an instant.

The blade reached in front of the girl's neck.

The girl leaned back in a way that would probably break an average person's back, narrowly avoiding the horizontal slash of the blade.

The sharp blade brushed past her face, splitting a few strands of hair in two instantly.

A missed strike.

Chen Lusi flipped his arm, changing the blade from horizontal to vertical, and slashed downwards.

The girl again calmly tilted her head to dodge, straightening up her waist.

Chen Lusi—or to be precise, the controlled Chen Lusi—wasn't discouraged and attacked once more.

The girl kept retreating, dodging Chen Lusi's repeated attacks, while watching him continuously launch assaults, murmuring, "An arm that can turn into a blade, with an unimaginable sharpness; an average person wouldn't be able to evade it unprepared... you are extremely dangerous."

"It's not me."

Chen Lusi heard and replied.

Yes, his mouth was still his own.

The only part he could control was his mouth.

The girl ignored Chen Lusi, sidestepping the blades while examining him. Upon noticing he had long hair, her expression turned somewhat complicated.

"Hey, handsome, are you still conscious? Can you still talk?"

At this moment, from afar, Ah Yue called out to him, "If you can, just keep talking."

"In this situation?"

Chen Lusi couldn't turn his head, so he could only reply with his back to the other party.

Ah Yue responded, "Yes, it will help me better assess your condition. Don't worry, we will surely subdue you."

"Alright."

Chen Lusi was slightly panting.

Although he couldn't control his body, the feeling of exhaustion and panting was all his own.

After this series of left and right slashes, his lungs were burning again.

He strained himself, gasping for breath as he began to recount his day's experiences: "I was descending the mountain after paying respects at the graves... got lost... then encountered a shrine dedicated to the Mountain God along the way... the stones were laughing... I chose to leave immediately..."

"Then all the way down the mountain, I didn't encounter other weird things, but just as I was at the foot, I suddenly met a girl in a white dress... and before I realized it, she was gone, and I saw the Security Army."

Ah Yue turned back to look at the Security Army's officer.

"Yes, I thought he was just an ordinary person visiting the graves, so I didn't ask much," the officer nodded.

"Okay, I understand, what happened next?"

Ah Yue looked back at Chen Lusi, who was still attacking.

"Then, I returned to eat, starting normally... but suddenly it began to rain... black rain... the rain got heavier... I hid in the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall... inexplicably saw silhouettes in the rain, and heard crying."

"The crying got louder, and I thought I couldn't continue like this, so I went out... just as walked out, the ancestral hall disappeared, leaving me standing in the rain... then the girl in the white dress appeared again, without a word, she inexplicably slashed me once."

"After that, I lost consciousness, and what happened after I woke is known to you all; the girl turned into a loli, and is now controlling me to attack."

"A girl in a white dress, black rain..."

Ah Yue stroked his chin, hesitated, then asked, "Besides the white-dressed girl, was there anything else in the rain?"

"Honestly, it was already quite enough."

Chen Lusi chuckled bitterly, panting, "If there were more, I wouldn't have just been slashed once; I might not even be remotely human by now."

"Makes sense."

Ah Yue smiled and glanced around, "But it feels a bit discordant; such a singular legend in this kind of place shouldn't have such a grand display."

"Could it be a legend traced by the Source Canon?"

The Security Army officer speculated after a pause.

"If it's such an existence, the danger level shouldn't be so low, I'd also have no time to chat with you now. While I won't discount the possibility of mismatched Authority, it doesn't seem like it, not as simple and crude as turning into a blade to attack people."

Ah Yue laughed, "Besides, the folks at Kunlun might be unreliable, but not to this extent."

"They could get anything wrong," the Security Army officer remarked tersely.

"Haha, no wonder you're a good brother of our Celestial Strategy Mansion."

Ah Yue patted his shoulder, "Your words are music to my ears."

The officer didn't reply, just looked back to Chen Lusi, who was slashing, and asked, "What now?"

"Hmm...lend me a gun."

Ah Yue contemplated and extended his hand.

Without a word, the Security Army officer handed over the submachine gun he was holding.

"No need."

Ah Yue glanced at Lin Ying, standing quietly not far away, and said helplessly, "He's an acquaintance of Lin Ying's, a psychic ability user I found with much difficulty. I don't want him to quit, leaving me to seek out others constantly.

Old Li, you don't want to go home to a wife who doesn't recognize you and instead treats you like the family dog, giving you dog food, right? A handgun will do."

"..."

The officer's eye twitched; he put away the submachine gun and pulled out the handgun from his waist, offering it.

Ah Yue took the gun, weighing it slightly, then raised it, pointing at Chen Lusi's head as he moved around skillfully.

The gun barrel slowly lowered, aiming at the side abdomen.

This position should avoid major organs, so there wouldn't be much issue.

Ah Yue squeezed the trigger with force.

Bang.

Smoke gradually spewed out from the gun's muzzle along with scattered sparks.

The bullet rotated within the barrel, following the grooves out of the muzzle, tearing through the air towards Chen Lusi.

Chen Lusi, who was relentlessly slashing, suddenly stopped upon the trigger being squeezed, turning swiftly, swinging his left arm back with force.

A flash of cold light.

As if in frozen time.

The airborne bullet and the thin, sharp blade met with precision.

Amidst the sparks.

The bullet split into two along the thin blade.

Immediately after.

Clang.

Crack.

The airwave blew Chen Lusi's strands of hair.

Two sounds emerged.

The first was the bullet hitting metal.

The latter came from Chen Lusi's arm.

"Hiss—"

He showed a pained expression, taking a deep, sharp breath.

"It's dislocated."

Ah Yue handed the gun back to the officer, shaking his head and smiling, "It must be dislocated, right..."

"The other hand can also transform... even more dangerous."

On the other side.

The petite girl seized the opportunity, instantly appearing behind Chen Lusi, making this remark.

Before Chen Lusi could react.

She delivered a powerful knife-hand strike to the back of his head.

Everything went dark for Chen Lusi, instantly losing consciousness, softly falling backward.

Simultaneously, his arms quickly returned to normal.

The petite girl, being one who leaves after finishing her work, caught Chen Lusi after knocking him out, reset his dislocated shoulder, then pushed him forward and turned to leave.

Lin Ying had already approached, stepping quickly to reach Chen Lusi.

However, a grown man seemed too heavy for her.

Though she caught Chen Lusi, she couldn't keep her balance, kneeling down instead.

"..."

The petite girl initially turned to leave but suddenly felt a chill on her back... Curious, she turned around, looking at Lin Ying holding Chen Lusi, and asked, "Lin Ying, what's wrong?"

"Nothing."

Lin Ying knelt on the ground, letting Chen Lusi lean in her arms, then revealed a radiant smile towards her.

Like a blooming flower.
