Thomas woke up early, Donovan, so was the sorcerer's name, had told him that he would be one of the protagonists of the celebration, so he should be there early.
The Festival took place in the main plaza, where a podium was placed for the people with the most important professions to stand during the event.
He arrived early, as he was told, and to no surprise of his, not much later, Grant arrived, his friend who had become a knight the day before.
-What did you end up getting?- he asked after greeting Thomas.
Thomas showed him his right hand, and Grant was surprised to see the anvil on its back.
-Whoa, I didn't know there could be human blacksmiths-
It would seem that Thomas was the only one that did not realise the fact that apparently only dwarves were smiths.
They talked a bit, Grant mentioned that the both would be taken to the capital for sure.
-Of course you are going- Thomas said -All knights end up in the capital, but why would there be any need for another smith there, there's already one on each street.
-You really are a fool- Grant declared - Are you not aware of the situation of the continent you live in?
What Thomas said was true, there were many smiths in the capital, but all dwarven. The Humans and the dwarves lived peacefully, at least they didn't go to war against each other.
There was a non-aggression treaty between the two races, because humans feared dwarven weaponry and the dwarves feared the human numbers, moreover, many dwarves were smiths, and many of them worked in the capital, still the humans were very racist towards races that were physically different.
Grant told Thomas that he could be the king's personal smith, as he did not want a dwarf working directly for him. Thomas realised that what his friend was saying was in fact true, and he was indeed a fool, blinded by the frustration of not being able to be an adventurer he couldn't think of what to do in the future.
