Chapter 24 - Triggered the Librarian

Raze, Elaine, and Ella made it through the town. Where were they headed? The oldest blacksmith, one of the people that had aided Raze when he was making the bathhouse.

As they walked through the streets, a lot of people waved at Raze or threw out a soft, happy greeting.

"Everyone seems to like you," Ella said.

Raze turned and gave her a smile. "I guess I'm a very good person," he said.

"That's not the smile of a good person, you look like a demon," she said.

"He allows his evil slip out sometimes, Lady Ella. You'll get used to it," Elaine said.

"I see," she muttered. She looked at Raze for a few seconds, then asked, "So who exactly is going to help you carry out the construction of this road? This is a small town, after all."

"Who? The entire town is joining in," he said, flashing the same smile.

"How are you going to do that? Don't tell me you forced them," she said.

"Force them? They'll do a terrible job if I force them, so no. But when we get to that point, we can worry about that. For now, we have to gather all the needed materials," Raze said.

She still had a ton of questions that she wanted to ask him, but she decided to wait. They could talk more later.

When they arrived at the smithy, it was a pretty small shop, and they could already hear the clanging of metal inside. Raze pushed the door and walked in. Inside was a pale man at the back, hunched over, bald head and a grey beard.

He was Nolan, the leader of what was left of the blacksmiths here. When Raze spoke to Nolan before, he discovered that Nolan was once trained by Dwarves in blacksmithing, which made him decently proficient.

'I would still love the Dwarves instead though, but we can't be picky here,' Raze thought.

Nolan turned when he heard the door open. He saw who it was and immediately got on his feet. He rushed over.

"Young Master Raze, what brings you here today?" he asked.

Raze pulled out a list. "Take this, work alongside the other blacksmiths, and make everything that's on that list by the day after tomorrow."

Nolan took the list, his eyes widened. He was about to say how difficult that would be, but Raze took out three pieces of gold coins and placed them in Nolan's hand.

"That's the down payment for you all to start working and also have a little drink as well. I'm placing my trust in you, Nolan," Raze said, and left.

He knew that Nolan had the blacksmiths capable of carrying out the work in that timeframe. Was it difficult? Yes, it was. But was it doable? Another yes. If he had left Nolan with a choice, he would have most definitely taken the easier route and said they couldn't finish it.

That's why Raze took away whatever choice he had and laid out only one option: he had to do it.

"What exactly did you ask him to make for you?" Ella asked.

"Some metal trucks, stronger shovels, sledgehammers, heavy metal rolling pins, and a bit more," Raze replied.

"How do you know all of that?" she asked.

"I read a lot," Raze said and gave a smile.

'She is pretty observant, and she asks a lot of questions. I have to be cautious around her, else I might get in trouble.'

After the blacksmith, Raze decided to head home. Tomorrow, he would finally go into the forest where there was a small mountain that would be their deposit of rocks needed for the roads.

But for now, he wanted to enter the library. The fact that he was yet to explore the depths of that place, a place of infinite knowledge.

They got home, and he went to his room. He locked the door immediately and walked to his bed. He sat down and shut his eyes.

When he opened them next, he was in the library, standing there.

[Welcome user]

[User has made many new implementations with the help of knowledge gained from the library]

[User has unlocked a new section of the library]

"I've opened a new section? I haven't even gone through a bit of what I have here. Sometimes I wish I could read even a tad bit faster," Raze muttered.

He looked around a bit at this magnificent library, then he asked, "How many books exist in this library?"

[There is no fixed number of books or forms of information within the library, as it is infinite, coming from all dimensions spread across.]

'So it's like the name, Dimensional Library. Books from other dimensions, knowledge from many places, and I have access to all of it. I still find this crazy,' Raze thought. He looked around for a bit, dragged his finger over the back of some books.

"Tell me, what is the most important book in the library?" he asked.

[Information not present]

"Not present, or you don't want to tell me?" he asked.

[Information not present]

"I see, that's how you want to play. Then I'll climb up and see just which book sits there," he said, then looked for the closest stairs. He got on them and started climbing up.

Right now, he wasn't doing it because he wanted to read that book; he just wanted a better view as to how the library works.

He rushed up the stairs as fast as his feet could carry him.

[You are advised to refrain from what you are doing]

"No, if you want me to, tell me about the book."

[Information not present]

"Alright then, I'm going for the top."

He knew that if the library didn't want him to reach, there was no way he could. After all, the library was said to be infinite. But still, it wouldn't hurt to try what he was doing.

He got to the end of the stairs, but there was a floating platform with a few shelves. He took a deep breath and leaped onto it, but the moment he stood on it, he felt a presence.

[You have triggered the Librarian]
