The knight was stunned when he walked to the site and saw the men of the town working hard and in unison. He began wondering how much Raze paid them and where he got the money from.
He looked around and spotted Raze at the center, overseeing what was happening, so he headed that way, maneuvering his way through the work site.
Eyes turned to look at him and then looked away; no one there really cared about the random knight that showed up.
"Young Master Raze." The knight called out, but Raze ignored him for the first time, watching the work that was being done.
The knight frowned. At the distance they were, it was impossible to say that he didn't hear him. This pissed the knight off, but he swallowed that anger and called again.
"Young Master Raze."
Like the first time, Raze ignored him, and immediately his face twisted into one filled with anger. He stretched his hand and grabbed Raze by the shoulder.
Raze slowly turned his head and looked at the hand that had rested on his shoulder.
"Huh?" His face shifted into a pissed expression, eyebrows raised, mouth opened like some sort of gangster questioning someone.
"Why the hell is your hand on me?" he asked. "Don't you know it's disrespectful to disturb people when they are working?"
He already knew the knight had come, and he already knew what the knight had come to do, so he simply initiated a plan, the same type of plan he used to make the men work better.
"Look at you, coming to distract me when the people of the town are working hard for the betterment of their town. Tell me, sir, what could possibly be more important than working that you have to keep calling me and even distracting me?" Raze asked, his voice loud enough for them to hear yet at a level where it didn't sound forced.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked in the direction of the knight. They started muttering, talking between themselves while their cold gaze ripped through his body.
Raze didn't stop there. He turned around, and now that he had set the stage, he finally asked, "So what is it? What could have been so important that it is stopping the development of the town, huh?" He landed the final blow, his eyes looking at the man in a judgmental way, still carrying the gangster flair.
The knight realized he was cornered and took a step back. If he spoke now and said the baron wanted him back, it wouldn't go well with the people working here.
But then again, he couldn't allow Raze to continue. His father wanted him to come; that was the command.
The knight gathered his resolve and was ready to talk. Raze grabbed a shovel and swung it over his neck in a threatening manner. He tilted his head, one brow raised and one side of his mouth lifted.
"I hope you know what you have to say better be genuinely good, because you have set us back a few minutes, and everyone here wants to eat and rest. Being set back isn't good at all; you are extending the time we all have to work," he said, gripping the shovel even tighter.
Everyone around subconsciously gripped their tools as well, watching the knight with keen eyes. Their cold gazes changed into threatening gazes.
The knight stood there, and he could see the malicious gazes all around. He looked in front and saw the worst of them, Raze's gaze and a smile that could make the devil shiver.
'This kid… this kid is a demon,' the knight thought. He took a step back and started retreating. He looked around cautiously to ensure no one attacked him and placed his hand on the pommel of his sword.
He was a skilled warrior, but fighting fifty men with tools… he'd be dead faster than he could blink. Slowly, slowly, he backed away from the place, and when he was far enough, he turned and left.
Everyone kept watching until he was very far away. Raze loomed around and saw them watching the knight.
"What the hell are you watching him for? Didn't you hear? We are already behind, we need this bathhouse." He yelled. They all responded with cheers and got back to work.
Unknown to these men, Raze's tone had shifted from when they came here. They had come to help, his tone was filled with gratitude, happy for their help.
But now it was slowly shifting into the tone of a boss leading rather than someone being helped.
'When you have a massive amount of information in your head, finding ways to get things done and get people to work for you is easy. As of now, all these men are simply going to be working for me.
All that is needed, motivation, incentives, proper environment. When all this is in place, you can work people to their max and they won't have a single issue with it,' Raze thought.
[.....]
The knight rushed back to the mansion and went straight to the office of the baron. He knocked and walked in before immediately going on his knees.
The baron looked at him, a hint of confusion on his face.
"Where is my son?" he asked.
"My Lord, he incited the people against me with his words. If I had tried to bring him, they would have attacked me," the knight said.
"You have to be joking. You mean a child made the townspeople turn against you, a knight?" the baron asked to confirm.
"Yes. His words were smooth, like he had practiced them. Everything he said made them look at me with vicious eyes.
Whatever your son is doing there, he has absolute control over the people, and even then, they all seem happy doing it. Not one person there was frowning at the work they had to do, and I don't understand how that could be," the knight stated.
