Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Don't Get in That Car!

"..." Summer Shawcross was startled by his voice.

Two seconds later, Noah Drexler turned his head and glanced at the bodyguard beside him, giving an order.

"Have the driver bring the car over!" As he spoke, he released Summer's wrist.

His handsome face, however, showed a hint of helplessness.

Over the years, he had faced many challenges in the business world, but even the biggest ones only earned a frown from him.

But only she... posed a greater challenge than all of them.

Because he truly didn't know how to treat her...

In his eyes, she was a perpetual hedgehog; as long as he reached out, his hand would be pricked all over with scars, not life-threatening, yet still painful.

"You agreed?" Upon hearing his words, Summer looked at him incredulously.

He agreed to let her out?

"Not going?" He glanced at her briefly, then turned and walked out of the villa.

"Going, going! Of course, I'm going!" Summer quickly displayed a smile and swiftly followed his pace.

...

An hour later, Noah's car arrived near the detective agency owned by Summer's brother, Sean Shawcross.

Not far away, Summer saw Sean just coming out of the detective agency, opening the door to the black sedan parked at the agency's entrance, and got into the driver's seat.

Seeing this, Summer's nerves tensed immediately and she screamed madly!

"No! Don't get in! Don't get in that car!"

Don't get in that car!

Cannot get in that car!

Her sudden reaction made Noah furrow his brow, then he glanced at the bodyguard Sean Morgan in the passenger seat, and gave an instruction.

"Stop him!"

"Yes, boss!" Sean Morgan nodded, not waiting for the car to come to a complete stop, he pushed open the car door and ran towards the car in front at the fastest speed.

Summer's legs were weak, as soon as the car stopped, she hurriedly pushed open the door and got out!

At this moment, Sean Morgan had already arrived at the car, knocked on the window, and said something.

Immediately after, the car door was pushed open, and a young man in a brown trench coat came out of the car, turning his head to look in her direction.

The man wore those frameless glasses he had donned for years, with a warm smile on his face; beneath the street lamp, that warm smile appeared so unreal, so distant...

Upon seeing that familiar gentle smile again, Summer could hardly believe her eyes, her eyes instantly becoming wet.

Perhaps due to the overly excited mood, she didn't even see the trash can ahead...

Summer accidentally tripped and her body unexpectedly fell sideways; just when she thought she was going to fall, a large hand suddenly embraced her waist from behind, her back leaning into an embrace that was both warm and firm.

Summer froze for a moment.

"Do you want to lose your legs?!" Noah's somewhat displeased voice came from beside her ear.

Doesn't she know she should watch where she's going?

"I'm sorry..." Summer hurriedly apologized, and as she spoke, she broke free from Noah's embrace and walked forward.

Seeing her rushing posture, Sean Shawcross's smile faded and was replaced by a worried expression.

"What's wrong, did something happen..."

He hadn't finished his sentence before Summer threw herself into his arms, reaching out to hold him.

"Brother... I missed you so much!" Summer choked out.
