Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Who Is She?

Splash――

Bai Xiqin was enthusiastically scrubbing in the bathroom, scrubbing so hard that a few strands of noodles were scrubbed out.

Bai Xiqin immediately thought of the Spiritual Spring Water in the space, perhaps it was because she drank it that her whole body became so dirty.

Could the Spiritual Spring Water also have the effect of tempering bones and muscles?

When Bai Xiqin came out of the bathroom, she deliberately stood in front of the mirror for quite a while.

The person in the mirror had delicate features, skin white as snow, and bright, attractive eyes.

She hadn't expected that the Spiritual Spring Water would also have beauty-enhancing effects.

Bai Xiqin smiled at the mirror, and the beauty in the mirror smiled back at her.

Bai Xiqin raised an eyebrow and decisively replaced the water in her home water dispenser with Spiritual Spring Water.

Looking at the large water barrel she'd replaced, Bai Xiqin clenched her fist slightly, feeling that she became stronger somehow.

She wondered if this was due to her body's superpower or the Spiritual Spring Water from the space, or maybe both.

"Sis, there's a lot we need to stock up on." Bai Yifan emerged from his room holding a piece of paper and handed it casually to Bai Xiqin.

Bai Xiqin looked down at the paper, which was densely packed with writing that filled the entire page.

Rice, flour, oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar...

"Are all these really necessary?"

Bai Xiqin's gaze fell on the last line.

There it clearly listed, pacifiers, infant formula, diapers.

She never thought that her younger brother could think so far ahead, even considering the next generation's needs.

I mean, with the apocalypse coming, marriage and such were out of the question anyway.

"Of course, they're needed!"

Bai Yifan nodded firmly, his neck stiff.

The apocalypse!

With zombies!

What if he got scared seeing a zombie and wet his pants, what then?

Zombies wouldn't wait for him to change his pants before pouncing!

So, diapers were indispensable.

Infant formula was for his energy replenishment.

Pacifiers... were to soothe his traumatized and very childish heart.

"By the way, sis, I've only got three thousand bucks, how much do you have?" Bai Yifan looked at the paper, a bit worried, "Buying these things will need a lot of money!"

He had to stock up on the most expensive infant formula!

Oh man, who knows when the fat will flow back to outsiders!

He had to nourish himself well, couldn't shortchange himself!

This 3000 bucks was everything he's saved from childhood, bit by bit.

Scraped out from between his teeth!

"I only have thirty thousand, it's definitely not enough!" Bai Xiqin nodded, pondering how to make money quickly.

"What?" Bai Yifan looked at Bai Xiqin in surprise, "How come you have so much money!"

"Mom and Dad gave it to me." Bai Xiqin raised an eyebrow.

Bai Yifan: "Oh."

Understood, got it, no complaints.

Thirty thousand, that's a huge sum!

Enough to take care of him!

"Do you think if we tell our parents the apocalypse is coming, they'd believe us?" Bai Yifan scratched his head.

The family finances were all under Mom's control, and if he wanted to stockpile supplies, he first needed her approval.

"Not sure, you handle communicating with Mom and Dad!" Bai Xiqin solemnly patted Bai Yifan's shoulder.

"Why me?" Bai Yifan protested a bit.

Telling any normal person that the apocalypse is imminent, they wouldn't believe it.

Especially old-fashioned parents, it's a huge task!

Mr. Bai, a renowned ace lawyer from a famous law firm, a staunch materialist.

Mrs. Bai, a famous funeral master, once famously ate hotpot among a heap of corpses with composure, a record yet to be surpassed.

Tell them zombies would come, Mrs. Bai would calmly say, "Oh, let's just cremate them all!"

Oh, and there's Grandpa and Grandma Bai, retired in the countryside.

Grandpa Bai, a people's teacher, doesn't believe in ghosts or gods, nor respects the heavens and earth.

Grandma Bai, a star forensic doctor at a procuratorate, can dissect all kinds of decayed bodies without batting an eye.

In short, the whole family is upright and righteous.

It's hard to make them believe in the existence of a doomsday scenario.

"Of course you should; you're better at literature than I am!" Bai Xiqin smiled slightly.

"Well――ah!" Bai Yifan rubbed his hands together slightly lasciviously, "My language arts are indeed better, so I'll tell them then!"

But he needed to think of a subtle way, if he told them outright that a doomsday would cause the family to perish, his dad would definitely reprimand him.

Spreading false rumors, up to three years of imprisonment!

"Forget it, forget it, let me think of a win-win solution!" Bai Yifan scratched his head.

Without the comfort of infant formula, he was very anxious right now.

"Sis, let's go shopping at the supermarket! Let's just buy some stuff and stock up first!"

Bai Yifan tugged on Bai Xiqin's arm.

Bai Xiqin subconsciously swallowed, in three years of the apocalypse, she had never been full.

"Alright!"

Bai Xiqin slapped her thigh, the siblings changed their shoes, and marched toward the biggest nearby supermarket to ransack it.

In a building not far from Bai Xiqin's home, the top floor housed the youngest CEO of a certain company.

A man in a blue suit lay with his eyes closed on a chair.

The man had long eyelashes, but they didn't soften his stern face.

"What's your... name?"

The man's deep, hoarse voice suddenly rang out, then he suddenly awoke, his sharp eagle-like eyes appeared somewhat confused.

Leng Yebai glanced around, finding the clean, tidy office the same as before, with a pile of documents on the desk.

With long fingers pressing his temples, Leng Yebai's face had droplets of cold sweat.

In recent days, he had been having the same dream repeatedly.

In a spotless white room, he was tightly tied to a bed, while men in lab coats kept injecting drugs into him.

There was endless pain, even in the dream he could vividly feel the gut-wrenching agony.

Later on, they brought in a girl too, who endured endless torment just like him.

Those dark, determined eyes never showed a single tear.

Later, they tried to open up their brains.

Leng Yebai squinted, with a chilling air in his eagle-like sharp eyes.

That scalpel flashed a dazzling cold light, stabbing painfully at his heart!

Leng Yebai closed his frosty eyes, fingers tapping lightly on the desk.

In that room, he couldn't clearly see the faces of those in lab coats, nor hear what they were researching him for.

Only the face of the dissected girl beside him was visible.

Those dark eyes calmly looked at him, as if they could see through his soul.

Leng Yebai picked up a pen, ready to sign a document, but the girl's smiling face surfaced in his mind.

She said, why don't we just die together?

Clutching the pen tightly, Leng Yebai felt it was just a dream, but why was that scene etched in his mind, unable to be erased?

It had to be a dream; in this era how could anyone blatantly open a person's brain?

Yet, that smiling face lingered in his mind.

Leng Yebai pursed his thin lips, a cold aura emanating from him.

Who on earth was she!

She hadn't even had the chance to tell him her name!
