Chapter 69 - CHAPTER 69

c69: The First Appearance of Ultra Instinct

Looking at the two figures clashing violently in the sky, Vegeta clenched his fists, his jaw tightening in frustration. He never imagined that Lin Hao could fight Beerus the God of Destruction himself on equal footing. The very thought made his Saiyan blood boil.

Even more infuriating was that Lin Hao clearly wasn't using his full strength yet. Vegeta remembered the relentless training he had undergone in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, day after day pushing his limits, thinking he had finally closed the gap between himself, Kakarot, and Lin Hao. When he achieved his breakthrough, he believed he could finally surpass them.

But reality was cruel. Lin Hao defeated him effortlessly without even transforming. That humiliation still burned deep inside him.

In the past, Vegeta's only goal was to surpass Kakarot and become the strongest Saiyan in the universe. But ever since Lin Hao appeared, everything had changed. Now, seeing Lin Hao holding his own against Beerus, a god whose mere presence once made him tremble, Vegeta's pride twisted into unease.

On the other hand, Son Goku's eyes were shining. Watching Lin Hao exchange blows with Beerus didn't fill him with envy, it awakened his fighting spirit. He could feel every strike, every burst of ki, and his heart pounded with excitement.

"To fight at that level…" Goku whispered, his smile widening. "That's the kind of battle I want!"

He didn't care about victory or defeat. For Goku, the thrill of testing himself against the strongest was enough.

.............

High above the Earth, the clash between Lin Hao and Beerus had reached a fever pitch. Lin Hao's Super Saiyan 4 aura blazed like molten energy, colliding with Beerus's violet divine ki. The sky itself seemed to split apart, shockwaves rippling through the clouds.

Beerus smirked, parrying Lin Hao's punches with effortless precision. Even now, his movements were relaxed, graceful the mark of a god who had fought countless battles. "You're impressive, Lin Hao," he said, his golden eyes narrowing with satisfaction. "It's rare for anyone to push me this far."

Despite the praise, Beerus didn't relent. His attacks grew even faster, sharper, each strike capable of annihilating a planet if it landed cleanly.

Lin Hao met them head-on. "Heh… not bad," he said coolly, blocking Beerus's energy spheres with his bare hands. "But this is where the real fight begins."

Though his tone was calm, Lin Hao's blood was boiling. This was what he longed for the pure joy of combat. Even now, he hadn't unleashed the full might of Super Saiyan 4.

Beerus's smile widened. "Oh? It seems you've still got more hidden away. I like that." He floated higher, tail swaying lazily behind him. "Don't disappoint me, Saiyan. Show me your true power!"

"It's good that you understand," Lin Hao replied, his crimson aura flaring hotter. "Because if I go all out, you might not be able to handle even one punch!"

"Is that so?" Beerus said, amused. He stopped talking and instantly closed the distance, his right fist wrapped in purple destruction energy.

Lin Hao reacted instinctively, meeting Beerus's blow with his own. Their fists collided, creating a flash brighter than lightning. The first punch was evenly matched but the second came with a sudden surge of force.

Beerus's eyes widened. "Wha !"

The punch landed square in his abdomen, the impact echoing like thunder.

"Ugh!"

Beerus was blasted backward, his body curling involuntarily as the air was knocked from his lungs. He skidded across the sky, clutching his stomach with a grimace.

"This… this mortal actually!" Beerus growled, his pride stung more than his body. He hadn't expected Lin Hao's power to increase so sharply mid-battle.

Hovering calmly, Lin Hao crossed his arms, his eyes sharp with confidence. "What's wrong, Beerus? That hit shouldn't hurt a god of your level. Don't tell me you're holding back too much."

"Tch," Beerus clicked his tongue, straightening himself and floating back to his original position. His expression darkened, though a grin still lingered. "Don't get cocky. I've only been using about sixty percent of my strength. Next, I'll raise it to eighty. But until you show me your full power, I won't bother using my true Destruction Energy."

"Sixty percent, huh?" Lin Hao said with a smirk. "That's still impressive. But since you're upping your game, I guess I'll have to return the favor."

His aura flared again, red lightning sparking through the air. The ground below trembled from the sheer intensity. Lin Hao's power climbed, his primal energy fusing faintly with something deeper an instinctive calm that Beerus instantly noticed.

Beerus's eyes flickered. That aura… it's changing. It's not just power, it's awareness.

As Lin Hao's expression grew serene, his movements became fluid, almost effortless. Beerus, for the first time, felt a faint chill of anticipation.

"This presence…" Beerus muttered under his breath. "It feels just like Whis's Ultra Instinct."

And with that, the true battle between mortal instinct and divine destruction began to unfold.

Seeing Lin Hao's proud expression, Beerus curled his lips, his golden eyes narrowing. "Hmph," he muttered, irritation creeping into his voice, "your power is indeed tremendous right now but transformations like that always drain stamina. Let's see how long your body can maintain it once exhaustion sets in."

"Maintain the transformation?" Lin Hao replied calmly, his tone edged with confidence. "You don't have to worry about that. Even without relying on this form, I can defeat you with ease."

Beerus raised an eyebrow, puzzled. "Oh? You're saying you don't even need that transformation to face me?" The question carried both curiosity and disbelief—few mortals ever dared speak to him that way.

Lin Hao smiled faintly. "That's right. Transformations aren't the only path to power." Deep inside, he could already feel the stillness of something greater the realm beyond Super Saiyan, beyond mortal limits.

Beerus's tail flicked once. "Interesting. Then I'll fight you seriously from now on," he said, his tone low and sharp. "But I'll warn you I won't use my God of Destruction Hakai ability. I'd rather test your technique than erase you by accident."

His golden pupils gleamed with genuine anticipation. It had been eons since anyone pushed him like this.

Lin Hao nodded lightly. "Good. Then allow me to show you a technique I've recently mastered."

With that, Lin Hao closed his eyes, drawing back every ounce of ki into himself. The golden flames surrounding his body flickered, then slowly faded away. In an instant, the blazing Saiyan aura vanished, leaving him in a quiet, natural state—his breathing steady, his spirit perfectly balanced.

Then, he opened his eyes.

His black pupils shimmered, turning into a silver-gray radiance that reflected no emotion. A bright silver light enveloped his body, flowing like liquid energy.

Thin trails of silver ki began to spiral upward from his skin. His hair, once black, glimmered with faint silver highlights, and his entire figure shone as though dusted with divine starlight.

The air around him changed completely. There was no pressure, no heat only stillness. His ki had become impossibly calm, like a mirror-smooth lake that hid infinite depth beneath its surface.

Beerus stared at him, a rare hint of unease crossing his feline features. The presence emanating from Lin Hao was eerily familiar.something he had only witnessed once before, when Whis trained him centuries ago.

"You… what is this technique?" Beerus demanded, his voice tight.

Lin Hao opened his mouth, his tone even and composed. "Ultra Instinct," he said. "I believe you've heard of it before, Beerus."

Beerus's eyes widened. "Ultra Instinct?! You can't be serious! That's a divine state—the realm even most gods fail to achieve! You… you're a mortal!"

He took an involuntary step back, the words echoing in disbelief. The idea that a Saiyan could tap into a technique used only by angels and gods of the highest order was unthinkable.

Lin Hao tilted his head slightly, his silver eyes cold yet tranquil. "Hard to believe, isn't it?" he said softly. "But perhaps the difference between mortals and gods isn't as wide as you think."

Beerus growled, anger and awe clashing within him. "You arrogant fool!" he spat. "Let's see how long that calm face lasts!"

Purple destruction energy erupted around Beerus, crackling like thunder. In the next instant, his figure blurred and vanished completely. The sky boomed as he reappeared before Lin Hao, a sphere of violet ki condensed in his palm pure Hakai energy restrained by his will.

He swung his arm down in a flash, aiming straight for Lin Hao's head.

But Lin Hao didn't flinch. His expression remained placid, his body utterly relaxed. The moment Beerus's attack came within range, Lin Hao's torso shifted slightly—just enough for the blast to graze harmlessly past him.

Beerus's eyes widened in shock.

Ultra Instinct was moving his body automatically every nerve, every muscle responding on its own, faster than conscious thought. Each motion flowed like water, perfectly efficient, avoiding every blow before it landed.

In that instant, Beerus realized it: Lin Hao had truly awakened the state of the gods.
