Chapter 79 - Chapter 79. Which Black Hole Are You Talking About?

Chapter 79. Which Black Hole Are You Talking About?

"Outer World, Inner World, Main World."

As soon as Natsume returned to the Pokémon Center, he shut himself away to research.

If he could learn telekinesis, he didn't expect to reach Sabrina's level.

Even mastering the Inner World, or proficiency at the Outer World level, would still be a huge help in all kinds of experiments.

Especially those with high precision requirements.

When telekinesis can permeate every corner of the laboratory.

Natsume speculated that it should be about the same as having a God's-eye view.

"First of all, this field values talent the most."

Muttering to himself, Natsume flipped through the notebook Sage Hart had given him, which recorded not only Shinzan's own learning curve but also, from long ago, his notes on training Sabrina.

Comparing Sage Hart and Sabrina's growth curves, Natsume clearly drew one conclusion:

Sabrina's talent was monstrous, while Sage Hart was a normal person.

Sage Hart took one month to get started, able to feel a psychic seed forming in his head, which steadily swelled over a year of hard practice.

At that stage, he could start to move things at a distance and bend spoons.

Most of the Saffron Gym students were at this stage.

By the fourth year, Sage Hart could merge the psychic seed in his head into his whole body.

Telekinesis coated his body like a newly grown organ that sensed the world, marking that he had stepped onto the threshold of the Outer World.

At this stage, he could control some large instruments, use telekinesis to suppress his emotions, perfectly control his body, and carry out fine manipulation.

By contrast, from the day Sabrina first touched the training method at age seven, she stepped directly onto the threshold of the Outer World.

After that she advanced a whole realm every year, entering the Main World before she was even ten, successfully practicing herself into a shut-in child.

Sabrina's growth curve gave Natsume a headache.

As expected, a genius is useless as a reference point, and the best textbook is another ordinary person.

Natsume moved his gaze back to Sage Hart's growth curve; compared to Sabrina, Shinzan should be at ordinary human level.

As for telekinesis, the League had long since researched it, and Natsume had read a lot.

A newly condensed psychic seed in a psychic human has telekinetic strength roughly equivalent to a Level 10 Psychic-type Pokémon.

A psychic who has stepped onto the threshold of the Outer World has strength roughly equivalent to a Level 30 Psychic-type Pokémon.

At the threshold of the Inner World, roughly equivalent to a Level 50 Pokémon.

At the threshold of the Main World, roughly equivalent to a Level 70 Pokémon.

Natsume's expression turned a bit odd.

In truth, people in this world are full of prodigies, and their physical strength and other qualities are pretty outrageous, which makes him feel out of place.

Natsume had reasonable doubts that the human gene segment inside Mewtwo might have been provided by a human psychic at Main World level.

Although psychics at that level are few and far between, if Giovanni wanted to, he should be able to manage it.

Giovanni, you fool!

If Natsume were doing it, he would definitely add Ash Ketchum's genes as well.

Combine the strong with the strong, and maybe Mewtwo really would have made a comeback.

"Forget it, forget it, I won't push my luck."

Natsume shook his head and, following the entry-level meditation method, carefully traced a black hole over and over in his mind.

One very important reason the League never popularized the telekinesis training method—it's far too talent-dependent.

Some people could practice their whole lives and never step onto the threshold of the Outer World.

Natsume didn't expect his own talent ceiling to be that high; reaching the Outer World would be enough.

For experiments, the Outer World realm is entirely sufficient.

After a long while, Natsume opened his eyes with a hint of confusion.

Aside from a throbbing head, he felt nothing at all.

That shouldn't be right; with an IQ of 100, this kind of mental work should be a piece of cake.

He opened his system panel and found his IQ was now 101.

Maybe that helps?

Half-believing, Natsume closed his eyes and continued meditating.

Hm… tracing a black hole in his mind was indeed challenging, but Natsume was the patient type.

The cosmos, stars, light, then gradually the distortion—slowly, slowly it took shape in Natsume's mind.

Natsume admitted the method was a bit difficult; his scalp even got hot at one point, and he had to ask Gengar to help by laying a damp towel on his head.

Fortunately, once Natsume completed the first star, the rest became much easier.

Two days later, Natsume could perfectly sketch a black hole in his mind.

The stars drawn in, the bending of light, the distant halo—every last detail presented itself in Natsume's mind.

"Natsume, we're back!"

From far below, Ash's voice drifted up.

Smiling broadly beside them stood Sage Hart.

The Haunter they had caught was quite interesting; perhaps…

Suddenly, Sage Hart snapped his head up toward Natsume's room.

"What is it, Uncle Shinzan?" Ash asked in surprise.

With a grave look, Sage Hart placed a hand on the group and teleported them to Natsume's room.

Once inside, everyone gasped.

Natsume was floating in midair, and the room's chairs, vases, books—everything—were floating too.

Centered on Natsume, they slowly orbited around him.

Sensing people arrive, Natsume opened his eyes.

How strange—he'd finished tracing the black hole, so where was the psychic seed?

Why was there nothing?

Clatter—clatter—

As Natsume opened his eyes, all the floating objects lost their support and crashed to the floor in pieces.

"Ah—Mr. Natsume!"

Honora cried, but fortunately none of the shards hit him.

Natsume glanced down, then looked over at Sage Hart.

"Why'd you drop my stuff?"

Sage Hart: "…"

"Natsume, that looks like your own telekinesis did it," Brock said, pointing at the littered shards.

"Wow, Natsume, did you get past the entry stage? It looks amazing!"

Misty leaned in, peering left and right at him.

"Natsume, I want to fly!"

Ash, not to be outdone, pushed Misty's head down and, starry-eyed, just about pressed his face to Natsume's.

In the back, staring at the all-too-familiar mess, Sage Hart sighed inwardly.

Another Sabrina has appeared…

In Shinzan's perception, Natsume could step onto the threshold of the Inner World at any moment.

It might happen naturally after a single night's sleep.

"So you're saying I actually got in…"

Natsume looked curiously at his hands, then turned to Ash and willed it.

"Whoa, Natsume, I'm really flying!"

Ash glowed blue and floated into the air, flailing happily.

The Pallet Superhero's weakness of not being able to fly is solved!

"Why can't I feel… mm, that 'psychic seed' you mentioned?"

Natsume walked up to Sage Hart and voiced his question.

"True geniuses really can't feel the psychic seed, because they can very quickly reach the Outer World standard," Sage Hart said heavily.

"Outer World?"

Natsume looked himself over, then willed it, and in an instant switched to a God's-eye view as the entire room appeared in his mind.

He could even see tiny bugs in the corners with perfect clarity.

"No wonder tracing the black hole was so hard—turns out the payoff is this huge!"

Natsume was pleasantly surprised.

"Black hole? Any beginner can sketch that quickly."

"With your talent, why didn't you try tracing something more complex, like a house?" Sage Hart said, face odd.

"Which black hole are you talking about?" Natsume realized.

"Wait, which black hole are you talking about!?" Sage Hart blurted, stunned.
