Year 2050, 2200 local time

On a ridgeline hidden in the brush, two men in ghillie suits sat quietly observing a hidden compound. They had slowly crawled over a 24hr period to get to this position, avoiding patrols from the local militia taking care not to disturb the surrounding brush making up their hide site. Now all they had to do was wait for the target to appear, confirm his identity and take the shot.

Victor "Wolf" Steel, tried to stay still as possible while watching the compound through his spotting optic, the damn bugs in this Godforsaken jungle were relentless in their goal of making him miserable.

He and his partner Jace "Viper" Winslow, had inserted via parachute two days ago, over 10 kliks away to ensure nobody in the terrorist cell knew they were coming. A perfect opportunity to take out one of the regions main leaders, had dropped into the CIA's lap when an intercepted message chain had mentioned "The Jackal", a notorious warlord/psychopath would be meeting with weapons dealers in the area.

Once the intel was confirmed, both of them had been smuggled onboard a cargo plane that was scheduled to fly over the region during an overnight flight plan, to do a night HALO drop. Then followed the 10 klik hike through snake and bug infested jungle to the compound.

It was going on two hours into Wolf's watch, when activity started picking up in the compound. He nudged Vipers boot to wake him, "Viper, increased activity in the compound, something stirred them up".

Viper pulled his rifle up to his shoulder "Roger, eyes on. Any sign of the target?" Wolf slowly panned over the area with the thermal fusion setting active looking for any sign of the "Jackal", before responding quietly; "negative just the same people running around". After a few minutes, several sets of headlights became visible coming down the dirt track through the trees moving torwards the compound. Wolf panned over to them, "eyes on three technicals moving to the site, one o'clock right to left". "Roger, eyes on". Once the technicals cleared the tree line, Wolf was able to get a better look at each vehicle and the occupants thanks to the thermal overlay on the night vision spotting scope. "Front and rear vic have mounted Dshka's, middle vic has the target. Cleared to fire once you confirm the target".

In the convoy

The Jackal was sitting quietly in the back seat of the middle vehicle, listening to his men laugh and joke about the last village they had raided, smiling to himself 'once we get this newest batch of rpg's and ammo we will be able to continue our war against the capitalist pigs trying to control our people'.

As he finished that thought the vehicles slowed to a stop in front of the ramshackle warehouse. He waited for the local leader to walk up with his guard before getting out of the vehicle. The cell leader immediately saluted the Jackal and smiled; "its a pleasure to see you again sir. We have ten crates ready for you, just came in from our friends overseas". As he was speaking his men were bringing out the crates and stacking them next to the vehicles. The Jackal walked over to one and opened it, inside packed with straw there were five RPG-7 launchers. He picked one up and examined it, then put it back motioning his men to start loading the crates. "Excellent, these will be put to good use". One of his men walked up with a briefcase, and opened it to show the local cell leader. The Jackal smiling motioned to the case; "one thousand diamonds, uncut as agreed". Once the man had inspected the payment, he smiled and took the case "a pleasure doing business as always". He reached out for a handshake, and the the Jackal's chest exploded.

On the Ridgeline 5 min earlier

"Target confirmed, fire when ready viper". Viper slowly breathed in and out waiting for the correct moment, the crosshairs in his scope rested on the torso of the jackal while he inspected a crate of rpg's. Once he had a clear shot, he activated the target lock in his scopes ballistic computer setting the distance and wind outomatically. Breathe in breathe out, light preassure on the trigger, breathe in breathe out CRACK!! The bullet screamed across the clearing entering the targets chest cavity before detonating with a shower of blood and bits of bone. Wolf watched the round impact the Jackal in the chest just to the left of the sternum, "target down, perfect shot viper". Viper just snorted "would be more impressive if we had to do the calculations manually like they did thirty years ago". Wolf smirked, "true, takes all the challenge out of it. Alright lets start heading for exfil before they organize search parties". With that both men began slowly crawling out of the area.

2 hours later

Sitting in front of a large set of computer moniters, a young man is monitering communications around the region and waiting for the exfil call from their operatives. Suddenly one of the other agents called out, "got coms from the cell going crazy, looks like our team succeeded. Call command and inform them". The agent nodded then placed the call. "Sir, we have confirmed our team succeeded with their task. The rival company lost their main asset".

"Understood, prepare a bonus for the team make sure it doesnt fall back on the company".

The agent immediately turned to the other agent in the room with him, "prepare exfil, command is liquidating the asset, make sure it looks like another agency acted". He then returned to his station.

5 hours later at the exfil site

Wolf and Viper sat quietly waiting for their ride, the hike out of the operation area had been tricky. The terrorist cell had managed to organize search teams much faster than anticipated, and they had come close to getting caught several times. Had it not been pouring rain causing the search teams to move slower and their dogs unable to get good scent trails, they wouldnt have slipped through. Once they made it to the exfil site, Wolf activated their transponder that would allow the heli crew to find them. An hour of tense waiting later, Wolf heard the signature whumping sound of a helicopters rotors getting closer. "Viper, heads up helo inbound get ready to go". Fifteen minutes later, an old Bell UH-1B "Huey" touched down in the field across from them. The crew chief leaned out and flashed a light in the standard sequence the team used. Wolf and Viper jogged over to the Huey and jumped in, "thanks for the ride boys, we are sick of this jungle. Definately would not recommend spending the night here". Getting a chuckle out of the crew as they lifted off, Wolf and Viper settled into the jump seats for the long flight back to civilization. Wolf looked out of the door while the trees sped past under them, 'cant wait to take a shower, then I'm going to get a burger and sleep for a week' smirking to himself he turned to ask Viper what his plans were, when he was suddenly engulfed in fire and pain then blackness.
