Chapter 2 - It's your fault

"Nicole! Nicole!" My mother yelled because I refused to get up from bed.

Even though I was gonna be late to school I made no effort to leave the comfort of my soft bed though I wouldn't call sleeping in jeans comfy but still, I wasn't getting up.

"Nicole, how many times do I have to call you before you know it's too late to still be in bed when you have school" she scolded me with a face that wrote 'I don't know what I'm going to do with you'.

I stared back looking annoyed because she's the reason I'm so tired, woke up late and still wearing my clothes from the day before.

"It's your fault, I'm still in bed from keeping me awake almost all night just so you could complain!" I retorted back.

"I shouldn't even go to school" rolling into a more comfortable position on the bed.

"Oh no you don't, you are going to school young lady" she said as she walked towards the bed to drag me out, "I know that I kept you up late and I'm sorry but even if it wasn't me you would have found something else to keep you up, like how you stay up late to watch anime, dont think l don't know," Oops busted "so don't try to blame your inability to get up on me" she finished as she dragged the blanket of me.

Groaning, I reluctantly got of bed and made my way to the bathroom before my mother decided to take things in her own hand.

Coming out of the shower, to my surprise mum was still standing there waiting, I made my way to my closet to wear the clothes I chose for today the day before.

"Mum, can you leave, I want to dress" I said to my Mum as I noticed she hadn't left yet.

"Nicole" she said as she came closer putting both her palms on the both side of my cheek, stroking it.

"I love you" she said in that voice that screamed motherly affection in which I replied a love you back to her but couldn't hug her as I didn't want to make her work clothes wet.

I checked what the time was on my phone but realised I was still going to be late nonetheless so I didn't bother rushing.

Quickly dressing, I shoved my homework into my backpack slung it over my shoulder to leave.

Pausing at the door, I glanced around my room- my unmade bed, shoes kicked into the opposite corners and my sweater hanging of my closet door. It looked exactly the same. Ordinary familiar.

My rumbling stomach which reminded me that I had to eat pulled me out of whatever trance I was.

The house was quiet signifying mum had already left the house and the only sounds to be heard was my backpack thumping against the wall to me and my loud steps I hurriedly ran down the stairs.

In the kitchen, the breakfast table was empty except for a single sticky note: Don't forget your lunch have a good day, love you.

Quickly, shoving my lunch in backpack, I took an apple from the fruit bowl on the counter, glancing at the clock I realised I was even more late.

Shoving my shoes by the door was a battle on its own, locking the house I ran to my blue Toyota corolla sitting at the curb like it knew I was late.

I fumbled with my keys, nearly sending them flying and muttered, "Seriously? Not today."

As soon I as I got in, No time to waste I shoved it into gear and muttered, "Come on, we've got to go."
