Chapter 13 - Training

Callie's POV

"I'm happy with the progress you have made, I will be discharging you later today" Doctor Mary beamed at me.

"Thank you, for everything Truly" I smiled.

I had been in hospital for two weeks now, Jaz visited me daily between her shifts at club. She has been teaching me the basics about pack life, who is who, when first shifts usually happen and about how the moon Goddess Selene looks after wolf shifters. Threading their fate and connecting bonds between mates.

She gave me some basic information about the Alpha's but beyond a few childhood stories she said she didn't want to share too much, it was up to me to make a decision about if I accepted the mate bond.

Honestly I didn't know what to think about it.

Since Jax promised me he would help track down my family I haven't seen him or any of the brothers for that matter.

I just wanted my life to go back to what it was two weeks ago.

"Knock, Knock" Jaz sang as she entered my room. "I heard you're getting released today!" She exclaimed.

I couldn't help but smile, I was eager to leave this place. Everyone had been kind but I honestly could stand hospitals. There was something about the smell and the lights I think, it made it impossible to rest fully.

"I can't wait to go back to work I feel useless laying around all day" I said.

Jaz gave me a confused look.

"Work? I don't think you'll be returning to the club" she said slowly as if trying to gauge my reaction.

"What do you mean? Was I fired!" I asked, horrified, I'd never been fired from a job before.

"No don't be silly, it's just… I think the Alphas have made other arrangements.."

I blinked. "Other arrangements?" I asked skeptically.

"It's just .. the club isn't somewhere they'd want their future Luna working… it's on the packs borders, othe beings come and go freely it's hard to.. stay safe." Jaz tried explaining but I was beginning to feel frustrated, annoyance bubbling under my skin. I felt a swirl in my chest.

A growl.

My hands shot to my mouth as if to try and physically cover the sound that just escaped my throat.

Jaz looked at me wide eyed, slowly a smirk appeared on her face.

"Oh! Your wolf! She obviously doesn't like us assuming she can't protect you" Jaz said smugly.

My wolf. Was that what that was. Had I been feeling her this whole time. Simmering under the surface, trying to make herself known.

I sat in deep thought when a smell hit my nose.

The scent of forest after rain. I looked up, standing in my room was one of the alphas.

Similarly to Jax his sapphire eyes pierced me, a smirk tugged at the side of his mouth. Slightly leaner but somehow just as large, muscles rippling though his navy shirt which clung to every part of his torso.

"Looks like someone's wolf wants to make an appearance" he said, voice husky and deep.

I blinked, trying to refocus my attention on his voice and not his god like features.

Jaz giggled, I looked to her breaking my thoughts.

"Alpha Alfie here is Jax's brother, second of the quadruplets" Jaz said, trying to hide her laughter.

"Hi nice to meet you" I said quietly, keeping my gaze averted form him.

"Since your wolf is eager to come out, I think it's a perfect time to start your training" Alpha Alfie said with the same smirk and now darker eyes.

His eyes were definitely blue last time I checked. But now they were almost black. Had my mind been thinking of Jax and assumed they had the same eyes? No they were definitely blue. I'm sure of it.

"Your..um your eyes" I began

"That's his wolf, Havoc." Jaz explained "When they're black his wolf is at the surface"

I continued eyeing Alpha Alfie, sceptical of this information.

"So what training did you have in mind Alpha?" Jaz said breaking the intense eye contact between us.

He was silent for a moment. Pondering.

"I'd like to start on basic defense training, a pack healer will also be working with Callie to try and improve her bond with her wolf, build trust so we can start thinking about her first shift." He said calculativley.

I sat trying to take it all in. Training- when was this going to happen.

"What about my work?" I slipped out.

Alpha Alfie paused. "Work? Sweetheart, you're mates to four Alphas of the Darkshadow pack. You don't need to work, whatever you need, we'll provide." He said seeetly.

"I don't want that" I said without a breath.

His face dropped, breathing hitched like I had physically punched him in the gut.

"I mean, I need to work, feel like I'm contributing, I don't want to sponge off of you and your brothers" I recovered quickly, realising I'd hurt his feelings.

He smiled softly. "Whatever you need, little mate." I sighed with relief at his words.

"But not in that club" he cut in my thoughts abruptly.
