Chapter 5 - Glory in fire

Alex POV – Manhattan

The city's screaming, burning, breaking.

And I'm loving every second of it.

I don't hold back. Why would I?

Superman saves cats from trees and pulls punches so villains live to monologue another day.

I'm not Superman. I'm better. I'm me.

A swarm of Chitauri dives at me. I open my mouth and let the cold rip out of me — a breath so sharp it flash-freezes a dozen of them midair. Their chariots stall, wings crusted in ice, and they shatter against the pavement below like brittle glass.

Before the crowd can even gasp, I swing around and burn the next wave out of the sky. My eyes ignite — beams of red fury, hotter than anything they've ever seen. The rays slice through metal, flesh, and armor like a hot knife through butter. Whole squadrons vanish in streaks of fire and smoke.

I rocket forward, fists swinging. Each punch breaks sound barriers, each hit turning Chitauri soldiers into bloody fireworks. A Leviathan beast roars and charges, its massive head blotting out the sun. I meet it head-on. My fist drives through its armored skull, out the other side. The monster crashes down, dead before it hits the asphalt.

The shockwave rattles the city. Windows burst. Car alarms blare. And the crowd?

They cheer.

Phones everywhere. People crying, pointing. Some fall to their knees. Some just stare. All of them see me.

Civilian POV – Random Onlooker

I can't breathe.

This guy… this thing just tore through the sky faster than jets, faster than lightning. He rips monsters apart like paper. Fire shoots from his eyes, ice from his lungs. Every time he moves, the ground shakes.

He's not human. He's not like them — not like Thor, or Iron Man.

He's something else.

Something godlike.

And I'm watching it live.

IronMan POV

Jarvis is screaming in my ears. "Energy output: off charts, sir."

No kidding.

I hover above the wreckage, HUD lit red with warnings. And below me — this new guy, this nobody in red and blue — just soloed a Leviathan with his bare damn hands.

I don't even crack a joke. I just watch, stunned, as he paints the sky in fire and ice.

Captain America POV

I've seen soldiers. I've seen gods. I've seen monsters.

But never this.

The kid moves like war itself, tearing through invaders faster than I can raise my shield. Whole swarms fall before they reach the ground.

I tighten my grip, chest heavy. Because right now, I don't know if I'm watching a savior… or the start of something worse.

Natasha POV

The battlefield's a slaughterhouse.

But for once, it's not us bleeding.

This new guy is ripping aliens apart with a smile on his face. Freezing, burning, crushing, flying faster than I can blink. And the people? They're chanting. Recording. Worshipping.

I reload, eyes locked on him. Because power like that? It doesn't stay friendly for long.

Hawkeye POV

I lower my bow. What's the point?

Arrows look like toys compared to what this guy's doing.

Mach 20. Laser eyes. Ice breath. Fists like hammers of god.

The city doesn't need me right now. It needs to survive him.

Thor POV

I grip Mjolnir tighter, lightning humming in my hand.

This warrior — this man — is no mortal. No Asgardian. No beast.

He is something else. A storm given flesh.

And for the first time in centuries, I feel small.

Alex POV

I hover above the battlefield, smoke rising, blood dripping from my fists, eyes still glowing.

Every Chitauri that dared touch this city lies broken, burned, or frozen. Every face in the crowd is tilted up at me, wide with awe. Phones are out, names already being whispered.

A god doesn't beg to be seen.

A god takes the spotlight.
