"Haha... can we talk about this?" Yoru flashes a nervous grin towards the Reavers approaching him. He was surrounded, and he was in no shape or form to even think about fighting back. "I'm sure you can fill your kill quota by not killing me, you know?"
As soon as the words left his mouth, a Reaver lunged at him. The blades on it's arms already spinning at an incomprehensible speed.
Without thinking, Yoru dives down, landing on his stomach completely as the blades completely devour where he once stood. "Ooh... my stomach..." Yoru groans in pain, having landed on his stomach wrong.
But he had no time to continue moaning and groaning. The legion was still upon him, and he was certainly not going to get away without a fight. He only had a second to recoup, before the other Reavers that were nearby lunged at him. Some where caught behind the others, giving him time to prepare for each Reaver.
"Hey! I thought this was a turn-based game-! I'm supposed to go next!"
BOOM!
An explosion from somewhere had reverberated through the Space Station, not that it had helped Yoru dodge the already air-borne Reavers. He swiftly rolls out of the way of one Reaver, before using his hands and scrambling to his feet. Grabbing a nearby pot, he swings with all his might.
Surprisingly, the pot wasn't that heavy, despite it's large size. A thought of super strength flashed in Yoru's eyes for a split second, before he's snapped back to reality as the pot breaks upon impact on the lunging Reaver's head.
Sparing no second thought, he turns heel and sprints off into a random direction, leaving the dazed Reaver with his three other companions. Although, they soon give chase, much to Yoru's dismay.
He leaps for an entrance, landing in a random, adjacent room, he's left looking at random clothing articles, books, boxes... nothing useful to use. Thinking fast, he quickly uses his keycard to shut the door. This should buy him a few minutes, at best.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Yoru starts grabbing whatever he can even think of using as self-defense. A brown scarf? Sure, he'll take it. "Might as well choke out the enemy that can breathe in space, y'know?" He couldn't take any of the boxes, they were too large to carry around. And even if Yoru did decide to carry it around, it would be too cumbersome to use. Before moving to open the door, Yoru's eyes land on...
A book. It was glowing red, with runes inscribed on the front.
"Is this..?!"
Yoru dashes towards it, immediately opening it. Inside were quotes from...
"... Sun Tzu? What are you doing here?"
Quotes from the Art of War, from Sun Tzu. Not that knowledge couldn't be useful, but could it be used as a weapon? Against Reavers, against any of the Antimatter Legion? The quote 'Knowledge is Power' isn't meant in a literal sense.
"... I can work with this," Yoru mutters. "Dr. Ratio uses a book. Why can't I? Is it because I'm not a buff scholar? I'm buff." He slowly looks down at his own arm. He wasn't ripped, by all means. He was definitely not looking like Mydei, but he certainly wasn't a fat pig. He was... average at best.
"Who needs muscle anyway? I have a book," Yoru mutters, trying to cope with the situation at hand. "And this book says, 'The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting'. So... how am I going to do that?!"
The banging on the door had continued throughout Yoru's entire stage of grief. He slowly moves box after box, positioning it perfectly, so that he could take on these Reavers. Some were set up as walls, others as an area he could dive into for a quick obstacle. He puts the brown scarf around his neck, the book on his waist.
Yoru moves slowly towards the door. "I can't die yet. I'm too young to die." He slams his hand onto the control panel. The door immediately opens, and the four Reavers burst in. Yoru quickly dives backwards behind one of the boxes.
SCREECH!
The box was completely torn in half by the blades of the Reaver. "Oh, what the hell? Couldn't they have done that with the door? Would've saved me the trouble of opening it, you ungrateful bastards!'" Yoru moves his hand to his hip, where the red book lays. He whips it out, slamming the cover of the book onto the Reaver's head.
It was to be expected that, it did nothing. And of course, that was exactly what happened. The book bounced harmlessly against the Reaver, as another Reaver lunged towards Yoru. Thinking fast, he completely drops down, letting himself fall limp to the floor.
The lunging Reaver misses, the blades pierce the Reaver that was hit on the head with the book. It pulls it's blades out of it's ally, the corpse falling to the floor, starting to disintegrate into a portal.
"Hey! I need those blades!"
But it was no use. Even if the Reaver's corpse were to stay there, Yoru wouldn't even be able to properly sever blade from arm in the situation he was in. His quick reflexes kick in again, unwrapping the scarf from his neck and wielding it in a way so he could grapple with the scarf.
As the Reaver lunges again, he ducks under the attack. "They only have two attacks... a lunge and a spin. If I can just predict those, I can win." He quickly positions himself behind the Reaver to initiate a choke.
"Kgh?!"
Yoru's face twists into disbelief, before he was sent flying into the wall from a kicked box. One of the Reavers had kicked the box into him before he could choke the Reaver.
Pinned against the wall from the box, Yoru struggles to move it off of his body. "God. Why isn't this turn-based? I'm so god... damn tired." The Reavers don't care about his situation, the three Reavers pushing forth at blinding speeds to cut him down.
SLASH!
Yoru watches as one of the blades cuts him across the chest. A deep gash made by the Reavers. He looks up at the Reavers, watching them, waiting for them to finish the job. However, before they could finish the job...
"Boom."
BOOM!
Gunshots had rung out, before a loud explosion was heard, coming from the opposite hall of the Base Zone. "Was that supposed to be Kafka?" Three of the four Reavers quickly move towards the hallway where the explosion was, leaving Yoru for dead on the wall. One Reaver had stayed behind, moving slowly towards Yoru to finish the job.
"... whatever... I can't die just yet... right?" Yoru reaches a hand out to the Reaver, palm outstretched, hoping for a miracle. "... come on."
Nothing happens. The Reaver moves in, the kill imminent. Yoru closes his eyes for one last time.
Slash... Ting!
Yoru opens his eyes. The Reaver was still standing there. He was still alive. Looking down at his torso where the gash was, he realized it was slowly healing.
The Reaver makes another move to slash Yoru. This time, Yoru raises his arms in self defense. As the blade looms near, it slashes at Yoru. It cuts the coat that covered his arm, but...
Ting!
The blade bounced right off his skin. "What is this..?" He wasn't going to let an opportunity like this slip. Moving quickly, Yoru leaps to his feet, jumping at the Reaver. He topples the Reaver to the floor, quickly moving on top of the Antimatter beast and pummeling it's face.
WHAM! WHAM! WHAM!
Punch after punch after punch. Yoru kept punching the Reaver, not letting up for a second. Not until the Reaver finally fell limp beneath him, disintegrating under him. The destruction of the Reaver meant Yoru was safe, for now.
Breathing heavily, Yoru stands up. Glancing at his own chest, the would had healed completely. "I'm alive. How?" It was a good question, but it definitely wasn't something he would be able to figure out himself. "Whatever... I have to deal with this later. That explosion... it was definitely Kafka. A large explosion in the Base Zone, when she uses her ultimate for the first time. It seems like the Trailblazer would finally descend to the Space Station. Which meant...
"... I have to get to the storage zone."
