Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Yu Jin - Loves Learning - Ember

Inside an unassuming little house in Mondstadt City, Yu Jin, Garura, and Collei were preparing to study.

Yu Jin was to learn common knowledge about this world, while Garura and Collei were to learn knowledge that did not belong to this world.

"Ah~~~, this is so hard! How come I don't understand anything!" Garura looked at "Fundamentals of Glintstone Sorcery," which was thicker than her face, with a bitter expression.

When Yu Jin first said he would teach them powers that could be cast without a Vision, she was the most excited, but that excitement was quickly shattered by the brick-like spellbook.

In contrast, Collei was much better off; in her hand was "New Edition of God-Slaying Prayer."

After Teacher Tops proved that Prayer and sorcery came from the same source, Yu Jin guided Tops, Sellen, Ranni, Melina, Rennala, Godwyn, Miquella, and others to compile and streamline the existing sorceries and Prayers in The Lands Between.

And "Fundamentals of Glintstone Sorcery" and "New Edition of God-Slaying Prayer" were their masterpieces.

These two books greatly simplified the difficulty of learning sorcery and Prayer; even an otherworldly person like Collei, who had no prior experience with sorcery or Prayer, could get started by reading Yu Jin's translated version.

As for Garura, she was simply slow-witted.

"Brother Yu Jin, is there anything simpler? This is too hard!" Looking at Garura's earnest plea, Yu Jin could only search his older memories.

Then he thought of Miracles.

So-called Miracles are the great deeds of the ancient Gods. To learn Miracles is to learn the deeds of the ancient Gods.

The more one believes in the deeds recorded in Miracles, the greater the power released. For a slow-witted person like Garura, it was perfectly suitable.

Yu Jin took out pages of yellowed paper, on which were depicted the glories of the Age of Fire.

Yu Jin reached out and touched these papers. Although the Age of Fire had ended, and although the ancient Gods had been killed by him one by one, the emotion and shock these Miracles brought him felt as if they were right before his eyes.

So, he was now also a creator of Miracles.

"Here, read these deeds. Believe as much as you want, and the power will be as much as you believe." Yu Jin pushed the yellowed papers to Garura.

Garura had never seen Yu Jin's expression just now. For a moment, she suddenly felt as if Yu Jin had become a dying old man, wistfully reminiscing about the deeds of his youth.

She carefully accepted the papers, nodding heavily to Yu Jin and saying, "Brother Yu Jin, don't worry, I won't disappoint you."

Seeing Garura's cautious demeanor, Yu Jin couldn't help but find it amusing. He said,

"I'm not that fragile. Instead of worrying about me, you should worry about yourself. If you can't even learn Miracles, then you truly are a slow-witted person."

Then he thought of something else and warned Garura:

"The deeds of the ancient Gods are indeed inspiring. But you must remember, those are things of the past. Learning Miracles is not for you to become a remnant of the old era, but for you to become a creator of Miracles!"

"A creator of Miracles?" Garura looked at Yu Jin and smiled confidently:

"I will, Brother Yu Jin."

Yu Jin nodded. With such resolve, his teaching was not in vain.

Then he picked up "Teyvat Travel Guide" again. It was a good book, but unfortunately, it only covered Mondstadt.

With Yu Jin's intelligence far exceeding 99 points, reading these books generally wouldn't take more than ten minutes.

He still had many unanswered questions, such as how Hilichurls turned from humans into monsters, what Delusions were, what Visions were, and why he always felt like someone was watching him from the Sky.

It seemed like some strange questions had crept in, but perhaps that was just his imagination.

In any case, Yu Jin had many questions, and it seemed he needed to visit the library.

Thinking of it, Yu Jin stood up and said to Garura and Collei:

"I'm going to the library. I'll be back tonight. As for dinner, you'll have to manage yourselves."

"Oh."

"Bye-bye."

Garura and Collei didn't even lift their heads. It seemed that in these past few days, they had moved on from their past and no longer relied on him too much.

Stepping out of the house, the sun shone brightly.

Mondstadt was still bustling today, and this hustle and bustle was somewhat unusual.

"Did you hear? The Fatui let the criminal from the Black Fire case escape!"

"Oh? I thought they were so powerful. I didn't expect them to fail to keep even one criminal in custody."

"I'm telling you, it seems the Fatui suffered heavy losses, and Snezhnaya has sent a new batch of people to Mondstadt!"

"What's the new Harbinger's name? It's 'The Lady,' I think!"

...Yu Jin's ears twitched. A new Harbinger? This was a big deal. He hoped the new Harbinger would be more polite. Otherwise, Yu Jin would have no choice but to invite her for a meal and a heart-to-heart talk.

During these days, Yu Jin had generally figured out the layout of Mondstadt City, so finding the library was not difficult for him.

Mondstadt's library was located within the Knights of Favonius headquarters and was open to everyone.

After explaining his purpose to the Knight standing next to the headquarters building, Yu Jin entered the building.

Pushing open a large door in the main hall, a two-story library appeared before Yu Jin. It was hard to imagine such a large space within the Knights of Favonius headquarters.

The library was not lacking in people. Yu Jin did not arrive particularly early, and many areas in the library already had people.

Finding an empty seat at random, Yu Jin began his journey of learning.

The books on the table gradually decreased, and time slowly passed, but Yu Jin's doubts did not diminish; instead, they grew.

Most of the books he read were tales of mountain monsters or bards' ballads, which seemed unremarkable.

However, Yu Jin still noticed the underlying problem: setting aside the Archon War from thousands of years ago, something major seemed to have happened five hundred years ago.

All the books avoided that event, at most mentioning it vaguely.

"Thump! Thump! Thump!" In the late-night library, Yu Jin was the only one, so he tapped the table without restraint.

"Forget it, some things are more interesting to discover on your own." Yu Jin stopped tapping the table. Going all out was quite boring.

"I didn't realize Mr. Yu Jin was such a book lover?" A lazy and charming voice came from the second floor.

Yu Jin looked up and saw a beautiful woman leaning on the railing.

A large witch's hat, a light purple long dress paired with black stockings up to her thighs, exuded intellect and allure—it was the librarian, Lisa.

"As a newcomer, I read more books to avoid making a fool of myself." Yu Jin replied indifferently.

Lisa was indeed beautiful, but unfortunately, Yu Jin had no concept of that; he only cared whether she was male or female.

"Is that so?" Lisa's eyebrow twitched. She had heard Kaeya mention Yu Jin several times these past few days, and seeing Yu Jin in the library today, she had specifically wanted to see him for herself.

Lisa didn't believe that someone Kaeya praised would be someone who would make a fool of himself.

But she was truly mistaken; Yu Jin would make a fool of himself, and he enjoyed doing so.

Lisa walked down from the second floor and came to stand opposite Yu Jin, casually picking up a book he had read and flipping through it.

Lisa's brows furrowed. This was just a common lyrical poem; in Mondstadt, a place teeming with bards, such books were abundant.

But seeing Yu Jin still reading with relish, Lisa could only attribute it to his personal preference.

"Mr. Yu Jin, how do you find Mondstadt as a newcomer?" Lisa initiated the conversation.

"Excellent! I've never seen such a vibrant city!" Speaking of Mondstadt, Yu Jin praised it unreservedly.

And it was true.

Hearing Yu Jin's praise for Mondstadt, Lisa's heart also brightened. As someone who cared for Mondstadt, she liked praise for it.

"Mr. Yu Jin, having read so many books, do you have any questions? Perhaps I can be of some help." Lisa asked Yu Jin. Of the books here, if not ten out of ten, she had read at least eight out of ten.

As a rare genius witch in two hundred years, Lisa was quite confident in her knowledge.

"Questions? Never mind, exploring the unknown is a rare pleasure." Yu Jin smiled and shook his head.

"Exploring the unknown? That's... hmm, a beginner's thought." Lisa remembered something, then sighed:

"Knowledge, however, can attract disaster."

"Clever people always think more. Beneath the deep sea is both abyss and Sky; at least, I saw the Sky."

"And you are still trapped in the deep sea."

Yu Jin gave Lisa a meaningful look and said faintly.
