Chapter 51 - the half open window

Cassian's heart pounded, a fresh flush creeping up his neck as he realized Aiden's eyes held more than just warmth, they held hunger. A quiet, simmering promise of touches that would unravel him completely, of nights that wouldn't end with just a kiss on the forehead.

But then Aiden surprised him.

Instead of leaning in, he pressed a soft, lingering kiss to Cassian's temple and whispered, voice rough with affection, "Sleep. Your day was hectic."

Cassian blinked up at him, cheeks warm, eyes soft. Without a word, he turned in Aiden's arms, burrowed close, and tucked his face into the curve of Aiden's neck. He nuzzled there, breathing in the familiar scent of soap and sleep, and murmured, "Good night."

Aiden smiled against his hair and pulled him tighter, one arm draped protectively over his waist. "Good night, Cass."
