Chapter 1: The Car That Killed My Friend (Kind Of)

Yugo Kanzaki always knew his life was meant for something great. He just didn't expect that greatness to involve blood, fangs, and sharing his body with a 500-year-old vampire king.

At sixteen, Yugo was the definition of average: no girlfriend, no muscles, no talent, and a GPA that screamed, "Hey, at least he tried." The only thing he excelled at was dying repeatedly in vampire RPGs and being invisible in gym class. His best friend, Reiji Nomura, was the polar opposite. Tall, slick, and so in love with his father's rusty Toyota Celica that he called it his "mechanical soulmate."

"Yugo, look at her purr," Reiji said one foggy evening as they parked on an empty stretch of mountain road. "Listen to that engine. That's the sound of power, baby."

"That's the sound of something dying," Yugo muttered, swatting a mosquito and glaring at the fog. "Why are we even here? This place looks like where people go to get cursed."

"This is where legends are born," Reiji said dramatically, throwing his arms wide. "Also, the GPS broke."

Then she appeared.

From the mist stepped a woman in red heels, pale as the moon, eyes glowing like molten rubies. She had curves, confidence, and absolutely no business being alone in a murder-horror-fog scenario.

"Excuse me," she purred, her voice silky. "May I borrow a bit of... attention?"

Yugo backed up instantly. "Nope. Nope, that's a vampire. I've watched enough anime to know this is how people die."

Reiji, of course, did the opposite. "Hey there, you lost? Need a ride in my Celica? She's got 140 horsepower and a glove box that closes... sometimes."

"Oh, I don't need a ride," she said, smiling.

Then she bit him.

Yugo screamed, spun, tripped on a rock, and knocked himself out.

---

He woke up to Reiji standing over him, shirtless, pale, and weirdly hot?

"Bro," Reiji said, baring slightly pointy teeth. "I think I died. But I feel amazing. Also, I can see through your hoodie."

Yugo screamed again.

---

That night, they didn't go home. Reiji, now a fresh vampire with freaky blood senses, led them through the forest to a hidden elevator disguised as a vending machine. Inside, ancient glyphs glowed, and the air smelled like iron.

"Where are we going?"

"To meet my new queen," Reiji said with sparkly eyes.

"You're already simping?"

The elevator dropped for what felt like forever. When it stopped, they stepped out into a gothic cathedral carved deep underground. Hundreds of vampires bowed as a regal woman in black stepped forward: Queen Seraphina.

"You brought me a vessel," she said, eyeing Yugo.

"Wait, what? Vessel?!"

Chains erupted from the ground. Yugo was strapped to a blood-forged throne. The queen's hands glowed red. Chanting filled the chamber. A sigil burned into his chest.

"Begin the Blood Core Ritual."

Yugo screamed.

Then everything went dark.

Inside the void, a deep voice laughed.

"Ah... so I live again. This boy will do."

And Yugo, for the first time in his life, passed out with style.
