Chapter 12 - beginner dungeon (4)

As the raid was about to begin all people who had destructive skills started to prepare themselves, including me. Once everyone was ready we fired our skills.

*BOOM*

As the gate was destroyed flaming debris was scattered everywhere, and everyone charged into the city.

Most of the people started to fight the goblin, but 3 additional epic awakeners joined us to charge towards the castle.

As we charged through the city we could see chaos around us. The debris from the city seemed to knock down some buildings, and a fire was starting to spread. It also didn't help that there were misfired spells causing destruction.

We saw several goblins heading towards the battlefield as we charged. We tried to save energy, so we only killed what was necessary.

Alice created a sword of blood to tear apart the goblins and used their blood to attack those behind them. Blake used his sword to slice them in half, firing flame bullets at those who he doesn't have time to take care of. And I mainly used my chain for those within 2 meters of me and magic for those further ahead.

As for the epic awakeners, they seemed to be able to keep up.

The first seemed to wield a dagger and quickly executed those in his way before moving on, and if the corpses were anything to go by, he also had poison. The second wielded a sword that was covered in flames however it also seemed that they could switch the elements. The third seemed to be a combat mage and coated their hands with magic.

Soon enough we managed to make it to the castle.

Even though it could be considered a castle It wasn't as huge as one would expect. Its area was only around 30 by 30 by 20 meters.

As we approached the castle, we saw many goblin guards charging toward us. Their levels seemed to average around level 6 to 8.

We made quick work of the castle guard before moving into the thrown hall.

The thrown hall was huge, probably making up at least 30% of the castle. It was 20 meters long, 15 meters wide, and at least 10 meters high.

the center of the hall had a velvet carpet leading the way to a throne with over 20 royal guards on each side. On that throne sat a 3 meter tall goblin in a noble robe and cloak, with a crown on their head. In his hands he held a scepter and a sword.

Besides the king there were two figures. To his right there was a night in black armor, wielding a great sword. And to his left there was a mage in deep blue robes, holding a wooden staff.

Me, Blake, and Alice calmly walked forward and approached the throne as the three epic awakeners stayed behind. It was as if a silent agreement was reached.

The three strongest would fight by themselves.

As we approached the king, he began to speak.

"Warriors," he spoke. "I know our fight is inevitable, but I have a question to ask you. Why do you wish to fight?"

Before me or Alice even had the opportunity to speak Blake decided to answer for us.

"Why douse anyone decide to fight?" He spoke.

"Is it to for pride? For greed?"

"No!"

"They may have an influence but there is only one true answer"

"... power!"

'When did he learn how to give speeches?!'

suddenly a soft laughter was herd coming from the goblin king.

"Hehehe. Yes, that's the nature of this world." he said.

"The strong live and the weak die."

"Theres no point in trying to deny this fact."

The goblin king started to rise from his throne.

"And there's no point in trying not to fight!"

"I know that you outmatch us in terms of power, but I wish for me and my closest servants to die with dignity, so allow me this request."

"I ask that you allow us to have an honorable duel."

Blake looked to both me and Alice as if asking for permission.

Both of us nodded in agreement as each of us approached our chosen opponents.

Blake would fight the king, Alice would fight the knight, and I would fight the mage.

As me and the mage faced each other he decided to speak.

"I can sense your mana, and I know that just in terms of mana that I'm seriously outmatched so I have a request. I wish to have a mages duel."

"You may have power, but I have experience so I would want that each of us prepare our strongest spell."

"So let the winner be determined by the one who survives?" I asked.

"Yes," he said "As I mentioned in terms of mana you are more powerful, so I know for a fact that I have no chance of winning a proper fight. This is the only way I even have a proper chance at winning."

After hearing his words, I started to debate whether or not to agree.

'Should I agree to this? It's a fair request and I'm confident in my own power but is it worth the risk?'

After a few moments of debating whether to approve I finally came to a decision.

"I agree." I said, agreeing to his request.

The goblin mage seemed to nearly sigh in relief before speaking.

"That's great!" He spoke. "I'm truly relieved that you agreed."

"Now that it's decided then let's begin."

Both of us started to prepare our spells.

The goblin mage raised his staff as several magic circles of various colors started to form, each representing a different element. Those colors were red (fire), gold (lightning), dark blue (water), light blue (ice), and white (wind).

After creating the magic circles, it seemed as if he was trying to fuse them. Sparks of elements radiating off of the circles, but I wasn't paying close attention. I was busy trying to create my own spell.

I first started by creating a fireball in the air, then I started to add more to it.

The fireball started to expand increasing from one meter, to 2, to 3, before stopping at 5 meters wide. Then it started to shrink.

No!

That wasn't accurate, more like condensing.

The fireball gradually decreased in size before reaching a mere 10 centimeters in size. Even if it was quite small it was as if it radiated pure power.

After condensing the fireball, I started to carefully expand it until once again reaching 1 meter wide.

Once the foundation of my spell was created, I decided to attempt something which I have been meaning to try.

To create a spell with a void affinity.

I have attempted this before however it never seemed to work due to the nature of the void affinity. The affinity by itself never worked but I wanted to attempt to fuse it with another affinity to see if it would work then.

Once I tried to add the void affinity to the fireball the effect could be seen immediately.

It was as if parts of the fireball started to fade from existence.

It was flickering like a broken tv, until .... it happened.

It stopped flickering, and instead a single black spark could be seen in the fireball.

Soon the spark expanded before the entire fireball turned into a ball of pitch-black flames.

'I finally exceeded!'

After finally doing what I have tried to do I started to spend the rest of my mana into increasing the power. The ball of black flames decreased in size before quickly returning to its original size.

This happened many of times over until I reached the limit of what I could control.

After finalizing my spell, I looked over to the goblin mages spell and noticed he has also finished.

His spell now looked as if it was barely stable.

The magic circles were overlapping, and sparks of energy were being constantly created. It wasn't sparks created from power, but from something that was about to fall apart.

Noticing that both of us have finished our spells we fired at each other.

Infront of the magic circles an unstable ball of magic was created. It looked as if it combined each of the elements it was made of, but it also appeared like it was about to fall apart and split back into the elements that it was made from.

Soon enough it launched itself towards me as I also fired my spell at him.

The spells collided with each other midair.

At first, I thought that they would explode midair but that wasn't what happened.

My spell went straight through the goblin mages spell. It was as if the spell just ceased to exist once it made contact.

Once the ball of black flames reached the mage it exploded and turned the goblin to ash.

No!

That's wrong. Not even ashes remained.

Since I finished my fight, I looked at the others, and it seemed like they were still fighting.

'Well, might as well check my stats while I wait for them to finish.'
