Chapter 14 - Chapter - 14 : The Sour Mood

Alas !

The moment didn't last long.

The bus soon moved on track, and everyone got ahold of themselves. Teachers also came to lessen up hassle and 'rescue' those standing students in taking their seats.

The crowd surrounding Anning and Baizhi also dispersed, and Anning reluctantly let go of Baizhi.

Just after sharing such a moment, they both again remembered - they weren't talking with each other , and with that moved separate ways again.

The teacher was now counting the students, so they all were hastily being sat down. Anning obviously chose window seat, because she was motion sick, and Baizhi moved somewhere else.

The bus started moving, and after counting, the teacher went back to his seat, near the front door.

Some students exchanged their seats as quickly as the teacher went, to sit with their partners ; as a result the seat beside Anning became empty.

Anning stared at it for a while, but soon didn't mind and looked away. She was missing the feeling of her special someone in her arms, her body heat almost tangible.

And the flutteringlashes, she was feeling butterflies in her stomach.

Afterall, it was their first time being this close.

Baizhi was her only friend who will sit with her, and now that she was angry, it was obvious for being the seat to be empty.

Anning was looking out of the window when she felt her stomach churning and a headache threatening to come. She has started feeling nauseous because of the motion - sickness, but she had left her bag of books with other bags, which was in the boot of the bus.

The music on her phone wasn't helping either, so she decided to sleep it off.

But after closing her eyes, she found her senses being sharpened and the nauseous feeling came turning tenfold. She opened her eyes again and stared out of the window in the trial of distracting herself.

But then, she felt the seat beside her dipping slightly. She was surprised that her senses were still working.

She turned her head to look at the intruder, only to come face -to -face with a sour faced Sizi. Sizi was looking at her, but when Anning turned, she quickly looked away as if she were trying to hide a guilty secret.

Anning, already nauseous, blurted out, " Why are you here ? "

Then realizing that what she said was rude, hurriedly corrected herself, " I mean, where are your friends ?"

Sizi, still not looking at her, scoffed, " I had already told you they were not eligible. This was the only seat empty, anyways. "

She turned toward her, looking in her eyes, then added somewhat derisively, " Was expecting someone else ?"

What's with this tone ?

Anning ignored her, thinking this was one of her many tantrums, and then continued looking out of the window. Just for a moment, she thought, Sizi was behaving very weird ; her eyes were vivid when she looked at her but still unreadable, as if distant and hurt.

As if she wanted to say something else but was unsure of how too.

She was just pondering over this, when she heard a tongue - clicking sound from beside her. She saw through the corner of her eyes that Sizi was jerking her hand slightly and then blowing on her finger with a scrunched up face.

After looking for a bit, she noticed, her index finger have a deep metal cut and was bleeding right now.

Without thinking, she moved her hand and took hold of her hand that she was flicking.

" Where did you get this ?" Anning asked.

" Hell, it's bleeding, let's get to the teachers. " She added and made to stand her up by holding Sizi's arms.

Sizi took a second for processing, then she wrenched her hand back from Anning's grip and hissed rather coldly, " Stay in your lane. I'm not someone who always needs anybody else for taking care of me."

And then, she was gone to somewhere else. Anning stared at her, thinking what she had done wrong to get that. Usually, Sizi talks to her in a very decent manner, and never with such cold demeanor before.

She was still processing whatever happened in the split of a second.

She somehow felt something vacant inside her like a gloom undertaking the space. And then she sits quietly on her seat and continued to look outside the window, but the scene just fled like fleeting glances. She was just trying to help.

Oh God ! It sucks being social.

She figured out that maybe the cut was inflicted during the crowding of the bus.

Maybe.... her bad mood was also because of that ?

She knew someone was continuously watching her but her head refused to turn.

Of course, the one watching her from sidelines was none other than Baizhi. She practically had her eyes glued there from since Sizi took seat beside Anning. Whatever her friend was blabbing was passing from one ear and went through the other, without even registering.

She wanted to go and ask about the situation, but then halted mid -way, not wanting to interfere.
