Phuture read more notes inside the bible while she walked a long stroll down a dirt road after finally escaping the woods.
Celie Ward was an advocate against slavery for her entire life, growing more involved after her father's death. She started reading when she was a child, taught by her intellectual father before he posioned the master.
When her father successfully poisoned and killed the master, his own fellow slaves sold him out to spare other lives. They would've likely killed everyone in efforts of finding the culprit, so her father decided to face the consequences instead of running away.
They executed her father brutally, castrating him and burning his skin for him to suffer more. When they finished killing him, they decapitated him and showed off his head to the slaves on a platter. All of this was documented inside of Celie's bible, but they still allowed her to die with the book.
There was also reports on missions written within the bible, missions of the ongoing civil war taking place. She assisted The Union in several battles with her older brother, but they were both caught by before The Union could reach them.
In the notes, Phuture finally discovered where Celie was born and raised.
South Carolina.
Great, now I finally know where the hell I am at least. I'm still unsure what city…but I know South Carolina is definitely a Confederacy State so I need to lay low.
There was so much to read in such small amount of time, there had to been at least a decade worth of information written in the bible.
She journaled and wrote about her life inside the bible like a diary. She was likely caught for reading the bible, because there's no way her master read what was inside.
Maybe they did read, and that's why she was accused of conspiring.
Celie was determined to battle against her oppressors, understanding that her father's death was for his children. She died for her child, just as her father had done for her.
More tears came to Phuture's eyes, she wiped them away and continued reading.
Celie worked on the rice plantation with the other field workers, in a place called The Oaks. The Oaks is where Celie's son and family are, and Phuture became determined to save them.
According to the journal, the year was 1961 and the civil war was at it's peak.
Therefore, warfare was probably taking place in cities around Phuture. Still, the search for The Oaks began despite the ongoing conflict.
Phuture continued walking at a steady pace, facing upward to the shining sun raising into the blue skies. She spent hours walking again until she finally come across the sounds of more people. She immediately crouched in stealth position again and rushed towards the side near trees, until she saw something shocking that thrilled excitement in her bones.
The Union! Are they already here to battle? Hell yeah! I can join them and help save Celie's family!
Phuture jumped out from hiding and rushed towards two men wearing blue. Both men were about six feet tall and musclar in body structure. But most noticeably to Phuture, their skin was just dark as her own.
One of them lit up with the excitement at her sight, he shouted. "Celie! What the-"
He rushed towards her and hugged her tightly, lifting her from the ground during a warmful moment.
"Celie! Everyone said you were already captured a couple days ago!" The man spoke excitedly as more soldiers came their way, he said. "Did you escape?"
Phuture smiled uncontrollably, matching the energy of happiness to the man who knew Celie. She couldn't expose the fact she wasn't Celie, in the nineteen century they would call witchcraft and hang her. At least for now she decided to keep it undercover, because there was too many Union soldiers around.
"I escaped!" Phuture shouted with a grin, she continued. "I saw three Confederates on the way, but I killed them. We've gotta get to The Oaks now!"
The smile on his face faded, he said. "Sis…you think mom and Willie Lou are still alive?"
Phuture's eyes shot open in shock.
Holy crap! He's Celie's older brother Terrance! He managed to escape before The Confederacy could catch him, but his sister Celie was caught before she could find him. It's all starting to make sense!
"I don't know…" Phuture answered honestly, she said. "We still have to go free everyone!"
Terrance grinned, he replied. "Yes, of course. Are you wounded?"
"Nah, I'm good. It's time to go!" Phuture grabbed Terrance by the arm and pulled him along. "Let's go kick their asses!"
"Wait!" Terrance pulled her back. "The Oaks is well protected…you know St. Helena Island is one their headquarters! We just can't go barging in!"
"Why the hell can't I? Listen, I don't care how many of them are there! Matter fact…where is your leader? Take me to the captain bro."
Terrance looked at her with a dismayed expression. "What's wrong with you? You sure you alright Celie?"
Damn it! I must be acting too much like myself! I need to chill out a bit…since Celie was eager to fight back I can play this right.
"Sorry!" Phuture said. "I'm fine, just bring me to your captain!"
An Union soldier approached their conversation, politely excusing Terrance to the side.
"You can General Wright, never wrong." The Union General introduced himself to Phuture, offering his hand to shake. That's when she noticed the entire platoon had been attracted by her outing. "You're the young lady who's been assisting us with Private Ward, right?"
"Yes! That's most certain unquestionably definitely me, I'm Celie!"
"It's a pleasure to finally speak with you face to face." General Wright said. "I just have one question to ask you before we continue on with preparations for St. Helena Island. Are you aware that we have confirmation of your capture and execution, Ms. Ward?"
Phuture's jaw dropped.
Holy Divine! I'm exposed!
