Mas lifted the spacecraft into the air with a burst of speed. The navigation system powered up, counting down.
"One… two… three!" The ship warped out of Terra's atmosphere, heading toward the coordinates set by the guidance system.
Vwooommm… shhhhuuu… weeeoooo… The spacecraft successfully exited Terra's atmosphere and warped into unknown space.
Mas spoke, his expression slightly serious as he piloted the ship.
"We need to get Ruby to the base as fast as possible."
Kai asked, curious, "The base… where is that?"
"You'll see soon enough, kid. Right now, we just have to survive those guys chasing us."
Kai frowned in confusion. "That kind of power… does everyone have it? And why are you so strong? Ruby almost died from just a single kick!"
Mas replied calmly, "That power… it's something we are given. We're called the Chosen."
Kai's brow furrowed. "So that red-haired girl… she must've only done good things to get her power… I heard from Ruby that doing good deeds grants power, but why do bad people have power too? I don't understand."
"Calm down, kid. Yes, good people gain power… but those who seem bad? They were once very good in the past."
Kai tilted his head. "Oh… I see. But why?"
"No one stays good forever, and no one stays bad forever. That red-haired girl probably gained her power from all the good she did in the past."
As Mas and Kai talked, Mas noticed something alarming.
"Crap… the navigation system's broken?"
Kai asked, puzzled, "Navigation system… what's that?"
"The system that marks coordinates for each warp, kid."
"Oh… so it's broken?"
"Yes… which means we're lost. And now, we have no idea where we are."
Kai turned pale, sweat forming on his forehead. "If we're lost… what happens when the power runs out?"
"We'll just drift for a while… but don't worry. As long as the communication system works, we won't die in space. Might take a while, though."
"And… what if the food runs out?"
Mas paused for a moment, then chuckled darkly, "Well… maybe we could eat Ruby."
Kai yelled, horrified, "Are you insane, brother?! Come on, seriously!"
Mas returned to his normal serious expression.
"Relax. Someone will probably come along and help us, like always."
Kai frowned, "But what if the person who finds us is an enemy?"
"Hmmm… then we're probably screwed," Mas replied.
Kai thought to himself, People really do die easily, huh… I shouldn't waste my life. I need to value it.
Meanwhile, something shot through space like a lightning bolt. A young girl with messy high ponytail black hair, pale skin, and piercing blue eyes appeared. She wore a short-sleeved white outfit with shorts designed for combat. Standing 155 cm tall, she wielded a massive silver spear crackling with lightning.
"I am Meyrin, the Left Hand of the Northern Continent," she announced, accompanied by a hundred soldiers aboard a massive spacecraft. Floating outside in space, she addressed Mas's ship.
"What are you doing here?"
Kai, hearing a voice in his head, exclaimed, "What's this? Hearing a voice in my head… telepathy? I've never seen this before!"
Mas replied, "We're just lost… we didn't mean to break any cosmic laws. Please, have mercy."
"We are the guardians of this Northern space," Meyrin said.
Mas muttered under his breath, Damn… we ended up in the Northern sector because of that useless navigation system.
Kai whispered, "It's okay, Mas. I don't think she's hostile."
Kai spoke up aloud, "We come in peace… please help us. Our ship is out of power, and someone aboard is injured. We beg for your assistance."
Mas added, "She won't hear you directly—it's telepathy. I'll respond."
"Alright, Miss Meyrin. Our ship has run out of power. Please, we humbly request your help," Mas transmitted through telepathy.
Meyrin hovered outside the spacecraft.
"Very well… soldiers, take this ship aboard Sevoria," she commanded.
The soldiers responded, "Understood, milady," through the ship's speaker.
The large spacecraft lifted Mas's small white van-like ship inside, taking the three of them toward the planet Sevoria.
