Chapter 1 - The Villain

"So, you're sure you're happy with this? Once you start the game, you can't change your starting perks or settings. No takesies backsies and all that…" A man in a suit droned on, his eyes sagging down as he was obviously exhausted.

"Yup! I thought everything through!" I nodded quickly, grinning as I ignored his attitude. Around me sat the pitch-black void, which made the plain-looking desk the man was sitting behind look out of place, but I didn't mind the atmosphere much.

After all, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Hell, it was even rarer than once in a lifetime! I had died tragically in my first life, but I was being given another chance!

I had awoken in this void roughly an hour earlier, after dying in a way that I had no memory of, with the opportunity to reincarnate. The man behind the table had led me through the creation screen, and I had picked the world and starting perks already.

At first, I had thought about being reincarnated in some fun and badass world, filled with action, but then I had quickly remembered that this was my new lease on life, and I blatantly did not want to die! Swinging around and killing titans in the AOT world sounded awesome until I realized that I had to, y'know, fight damn TITANS!

So, instead, I had chosen a simple, safe, yet fun world - Pokemon. I had been a pretty avid player in my first life, so I could abuse that knowledge to climb to the top! I'd build an unstoppable team, dominate the Elite Four, and become champion!

I could create my own team of best friends in the form of Pokemon, and then, with my fame and success as a trainer, build my own harem with the gorgeous female trainers there! I would be living my best life and having fun in the process! All the while, I wouldn't actually be at any risk of death! It was the perfect world to choose!

"Great, great. Enjoy your new life…" The man groaned, rubbing his eyes, before he pressed his finger into seemingly nothing. However, a second later, my body started to glow with blue light.

"Thanks!" I grinned widely at him, excitement filling my body, "Today, my Pokemon journey begins!"

However, when I opened my eyes a few minutes later, I would not be staring at a pokeball. Instead, it was something much more terrifying.

—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"S-Sir, it's really not my fault, ok? I-It was that damn kid! He couldn't make up his mind, and he kept switching between perks! I've been working for weeks on end without rest, and that damn brat had way too much energy! Honestly, he deserves- guh!" A plain-looking man, dressed in an expensive suit, shouted frantically as he waved his hands around.

His shouting was abruptly cut off as another man, looking also rather plain but with a noticeable beer belly, reached out and roughly grabbed the first man by his tie.

"You mixed up two souls you incompetent bastard!" The large man shouted into the skinnier man's face, yanking him forward so he was staring right into his eyes, "How the flying fuck can you mess up this badly?! You sent him to a whole different universe!"

"I-It was just a slight mix-up! An honest mistake!" The skinnier man tried to justify, breathing heavy and sweating as he stared fearfully at the bigger man, "T-They're not even that different of universes! Pokemon and Percy Jackson! They both have young male leads, they're both full of monsters, they both have big scary gods! It's pretty much the same thing if you think about it!"

"One has cute little animals that are your best friends, and the other has man-eating monsters that could kill you with just a glance! It's not the same thing at all, you stupid fuck!" The bigger man huffed, then groaned as he let go of the tie and took a step back, "Fuck, what kind of idiot even chooses a world full of Greek gods to begin with? He should've been punished for his stupidity, but instead, you sent him to the safe-ass Pokemon world! Now that poor other kid is going to be eaten by the Kraken and rot in hell for an eternity!"

"A-Ah, well, actually, I, um…" The thin man glanced away, not meeting the bigger man's eyes, "Actually, I… one of them wasn't a re… in… tor.... It was, um… a… il… es…"

"Eh? What'd you say?" The bigger man asked, leaning forward, "You were muttering, so I couldn't hear ya. Who was the idiot who picked that death trap of a world?"

"I-It wasn't a rein…car…nator…" The man said slowly, jerking his head back as if he was about to be hit for his words.

"Not… a reincarnator?" The bigger man asked incredulously, "How the hell do you send a soul somewhere that isn't a reincarnator?! Did you even read the manual?!"

"There's a manual?" The thin man muttered, his eyes widening, "That would've been nice to know! I've just been winging it!"

"You damn idiot! Just tell me who you sent and to where!" The large man huffed, a vein popping out in his forehead from the stress of the situation, "This isn't some joke! Fuckin' speak, damn it!"

"R-Right! The kid went to the world of Percy Jackson, and at the same time, there w-was a bit of a… summoning going on!" The man said quickly, pausing for only a second before he cowered under the bigger man's harsh gaze, "The gods were trying to summon a Hero from the past to help them! It shouldn't have worked, but I, um… fell asleep on the keyboard after sending the kid away… and… I don't know how, but I sent damn Achilles to the Pokemon world!"

As the man finished his words, he snapped his fingers, and a holographic screen was pulled up next to him. In the image, a young, rather plain-looking boy was running through a forest.

"Come back here, dragon! I will slay you!" The boy raised a butter knife in his hand, swinging it forward at a small orange creature who was running for his life.

"C-Charmander! Char!"

"Slow down, you beast!"

"Charmander!"

For a moment, the office was thrown into silence as the large man just stared at the image blankly.

"You… you swapped the souls of… Achilles… and some kid who just wanted to catch Pokemon?" The big man said slowly, then slumped back as a chair materialized behind him, "This is so fucked… this is all fucked! Achilles is going to go kill all those damn Pokemon, and that kid is about to be eaten alive by monsters!"

"W-What do we do?! The manual doesn't say anything about this!" The thin man asked panickedly, then paused as he became consumed in thought, "Well, actually, I didn't read it, so I don't know if it does. Should we check?"

"I did read it, moron, and it doesn't! What we're going to do is… nothing," The larger man said in finality, "We'll do nothing!"

"N-Nothing?"

"Yup! If this gets caught, then both of our asses will be on the chopping block, so we'll just pretend it never happened!" The large man decided with a confident nod, "I feel bad for the poor kid, but fuck it, we can't do anything about it anyway. He'll be dead in a couple of days, and it'll be like this never happened!"

And so, the two men nodded as they agreed to take the secret to their spiritual graves. No one would ever know about the reincarnator that they accidentally sent to his death.

Except, of course, the reincarnator himself.

As my eyes opened, I blinked rapidly as a bright light shone upon me. I reached up, placing a hand in front of my face as I winced. Damn, I know I was just in a pitch-black void, but the Pokemon sun hurt like hell!

"Ha! I told you it would work, brother! There is not a soul in all of the Underworld that you can't control!" I winced, my hand moving from my eyes to my ears as a booming voice resounded around me. It was as if someone was shouting directly into my ears with a megaphone.

[Welcome to Percy Jackson: The Game!]

[Searching for save file…]

[Save file: Achilles loaded!]

I blinked as a floating screen greeted me, and my eyes trailed over the text. Then, I blinked again as I got confused - save file: Achilles? Like, that Greek guy? What the hell did he have to do with Pokemon?

"Summoning Heroes isn't that simple, and it's rarely worked in the past. I can't believe it went this smoothly…" A much quieter and more subdued voice responded, sounding a mixture of pride and annoyance at his own success.

I finally glanced forward, forcing my eyes open even as I wasn't fully adjusted to the bright light, and immediately took a shaky step back as my eyes went wide. There were a lot of things I expected to see when I arrived in the Pokemon world - maybe a lab, where Professor Oak would give me my starter Pokemon? A forest full of caterpie? Maybe even just a simple house, where I'd be able to grow prior to my journey!

What I didn't expect was a bunch of giant people! I was suddenly in a very, very, fancy circular area, with expensive-looking thrones surrounding me. The floor was bright and shiny, there was a massive burning flame in a towering fireplace to my side, and the thrones looked as if they were made of pure gold.

On those thrones sat giants, each of which were easily hundreds, if not thousands, of feet tall. It was hard to even process their size, as I was roughly the size of their pinky toes, though it was hard to tell from far away.

So, as any logical person would do when placed in such a situation, I said-

"What the fuck?"

The giants didn't even seem to hear my words, as another spoke loudly.

"This is not the time to bicker, brothers! The summoning was a success, and it's time to relay the quest we have to our Hero." The man who spoke was just as large as the other ones, and sat nearly directly in front of where I was standing.

He looked strangely normal for a giant man, as he had a pretty plain face, blue eyes, and messy hair that went well with his massive Hawaiian shirt, making him seem like a pretty typical 'surfer-dude' type. He looked to be in his late 20s or mid 30s.

"Hey, Achilles, bro, no hard feelings, right?" I glanced to my side as another voice spoke, belonging to a young man, who looked to be in his 20s, with literally glowing skin, a handsome face, and golden hair, "I had to do what I had to do, y'know?"

"Silence, Apollo! I'm sure he doesn't want to speak to you!" Another giant person, this time a woman with a beautiful face and sharp eyes, called out, "It's good to see you again, Achilles. I'm sorry I couldn't assist you when…"

She trailed off, her face twisting with disappointment, but I just stared at her blankly, still having no idea what was going on.

"Enough! Let us get to the matter at hand!" The initial voice boomed outward again, belonging to the man sitting directly in front of me, who had a throne noticeably bigger than the ones surrounding him.

This giant looked a bit more intimidating than the average-looking first man, as he had a more gruff face and was wearing a long white robe. His eyes were also blue, but whereas the first man's were calm, his were filled with energy - and, if I wasn't going crazy, looked like they were literally sparking.

"Achilles! For the gods to speak directly with a mortal, and to summon the soul of an ancient Hero no less, is unheard of!" The middle man said, his voice booming as I resisted wincing from how loud it was. Like, damn, he couldn't talk a bit softer?

"However…" The man leaned forward, his eyes boring into me as his face shifted into deathly seriousness, "We are in a situation where it is necessary. The council has agreed that some laws must be broken, and we will bear the consequences for doing so. Now, we, the Olympians, will give you a quest personally!"

As he was speaking, I was… staring at him blankly. Was this part of the reincarnation process? Was this guy going to send me to the Pokemon world now?

"Achilles, Hero of the Trojan War, and the greatest Greek Warrior to ever live! With the reward of Godhood on the line, you must prevent the second Titanomachy and prevent the formation of Kronos!" The man finished, and as he did, a flash of lightning literally sparked through the ceiling - which was a dark black color, and looked to be riddled with stars. Was that magic, or did they just have a projector somewhere?

As the man finished, I just stared at him blankly again. Godhood? Titanomachy? Kronos? What the hell was this guy talking about?!

As I thought about it, my eyes slowly widened, and memories came hurtling back into me. Those names were all Greek, and judging by how this giant looked, he was…

"Zeus," I muttered, staring at him with eyes as wide as saucers.

I was talkin' to fucking Zeus! Wait, then all these giants were actually gods?! What the hell were gods doing in Pokemon?!

I stared blankly at the words appearing in front of me, and as my brain was whirling. Gods? I was in some damn Greek mythology world, not Pokemon, and now I had to make a decision this important right at the start?!

I didn't even know what world I was in! You couldn't at least give me a bit of time to think before shoving a quest like this on me?! I only have 2 minutes!

"Um…" I raised my hand doubtfully as twelve giants stared at me with enraptured gazes, eager to hear my answer, "I…"

"I just want to catch some damn Pokemon!"

Unfortunately for me, catching Pokemon was not in store for me in this world, and the notification that appeared next set that in stone.
