Chapter 71 - Chapter 70: Drum Island

A/N: About Harald, when I looked back at the chapter where he was stabbed, I realized he wasn't in his Domi Reversi form at all. So I'm not exactly sure what really happened there. However, Jack, the main character, believes that Harald was betrayed by the World Government after listening to the theory.

Some theories suggest that Harald own followers killed him because he agreed to the World Government proposal, even though that agreement involved the destruction of Elbaf.

For now, let's wait until the end of the arc to find out what truly happened to Harald.

By the way, I plan to increase the number of advanced chapters to 20. I won't open the King Tier yet because I want to make sure there are at least 20 advanced chapters available first. I will update advanced chapter on this platform so I can check if the grammar is ok or not.

..........

Nami condition worsened as the days passed, and although Jack had planned to head straight through the route that would eventually lead toward Alabasta, everything changed the moment her fever spiked.

He could skip Brook. He could skip Franky. But Chopper… Chopper was the one person he absolutely could not skip. The reason is very simple, because he is the number one fan of Chopper, compared to Luffy chopper is more important.

Jack had taken the helm and order Jarvis to speed up the ship movement to Drum Island and they will arrived in 1 hour, giving some crew like Luffy realize the danger and need of doctor inside the ship.

"Full speed. We're heading straight for Drum Island."

Inside the girls' room, the atmosphere was thick with worry. Nami lay on the bed sweating, her breaths shallow and uneven. Bonney sat beside her, holding a cold cloth to her forehead, tears silently dripping down her cheeks.

"Come on, Nami Onee San… get better already…" she whispered shakily.

Nojiko tried her best to stay calm, but her clenched fists and trembling shoulders made her fear obvious. "She's strong. She'll get through this," she said but her voice cracked halfway.

Robin stood at the side of the room, her expression calm but eyes sharp. "Her fever's rising steadily. We need medical attention as soon as possible," she stated gently.

Even Kuma looked troubled. "Her pulse is unstable," he murmured, checking Nami with a surprisingly delicate touch. "If we don't find a doctor soon, her condition may worsen."

Sabo nodded, placing a reassuring hand on Luffy shoulder. "We'll get her help, Luffy. No matter what."

Koala bit her lip anxiously. "Poor Nami… I didn't think she'd fall this sick."

The tension broke when Luffy, trying to cheer Nami up began drawing a "funny" face on himself. He puffed his cheeks, pulled his lips, and contorted his eyebrows in ways that only Luffy could.

Unfortunately, instead of funny… He looked like a straight-up nightmare from horror Movia

"WOAAAH! Luffy-senpai, do you want to kill Nami-senpai!?" Bartolomeo shouted, horrified. "That's not funny.... THAT'S A MONSTER FACE!"

Luffy blinked, confused and offended. "Eh? Really, wasn't she supposed to be laughing.…?"

At that moment Usopp walked in and froze.

"What hap... AAAAARGH! BAKEMONO! MONSTER!" he screamed, leaping behind Zoro.

The commotion drew the others closer.

Zoro stared at Luffy's face for a solid three seconds before grunting, "Yeah, that's nightmare fuel. She might get heart attack and die."

Sanji immediately kicked Zoro in the head. "IDIOT! HOW DARE YOU SAID NAMI DIE!"

Zoro stood up and fight sanji, "Bring it on eyebrow cook."

"You moss-brain marimo!"

"What'd you say, eyebrow freak!?"

Before the fight escalated, Nami stirred weakly, and everyone fell silent. Bonney wiped her eyes. Nojiko rushed to hold her hand. Luffy looked down, his goofy face forgotten.

"Nami… you'll get better. I promise," he said softly.

Even Broggy and Dorry peeked through the door, then burst into booming laughter.

"GYAGYAGYA! Strawhat's face could scare a Sea King!"

"GABABABA! That face almost made me sick!"

Their laughter shook the ship, but no one had the energy to scold them.

Jack, watching all this from outside the room, sighed.

"Guys, we will arrive in 1 hour, so just be patient," said Jack.

He knows how dangerous it is to nami and maybe using the phastos knowledge he could stimulate the white blood cells or to remove toxin entirely but Chopper is the most important.

And he also had asked Jarvis how long the toxin will spread on the body nami and it will took the whole day before the toxin affected her.

He believed this is different bug compared to Original series because the affect is more severe. So silently he told Jarvis to move even faster so they will arrived at Drum Island in 30 minutes.

Meanwhile Garp just arrived at Drum island.

"Why does this island no longer snowing, wasn't it snowing everyday," muttered Garp.

No one answer him instead one of the marines just arrived to report to him.

"Vice Admiral Garp! This town was just attacked by the Blackbeard Pirates!" a panicked Marine reported, saluting with shaking hands.

Garp stopped mid–rice cracker bite. "Blackbeard Pirates? Hah? Who the heck is that supposed to be?"

"He's… the adopted son of Whitebeard Pirates, sir! According to the report, he betrayed them by killing one of their own crewmates."

Garp clicked his tongue. "Tch! Just like I always said, pirates are a troublesome bunch. You trust them, they stab your heart and steal your snacks."

Before the Marine could respond....

BOOOOM!!

A massive explosion rocked the town, shaking the earth under their feet. Dust flew up from the far side of the port, and several buildings trembled.

"What now!?" one Marine cried, stumbling backward.

Garp squinted toward the smoke. His Observation Haki instantly spread through the battlefield like a wave. Within moments, he felt two intense signatures clashing violently.

One belonged to Bogard and the other one was was wild, burning hot, reckless, and undeniably familiar.

Garp's eye twitched.

'Wait… Ace is here!?'

The old man froze for a second, then broke into a wide grin that showed all his teeth.

"Oi, oi… that little brat!" Garp muttered, half annoyed and half absolutely thrilled. "I told him to become a marine and not blow up a whole town!"

"Vice Admiral Garp, should we send reinforcements!?" a Marine shouted.

But Garp ignored him, muttering to himself as excitement rushed through his blood.

'That idiot… coming here without sending a letter… fighting in the middle of a town… he really takes after that damn Roger.'

His grin widened even more.

Then his fist cracked like thunder.

"I guess I'll go greet the boy," Garp said, already crouching.

"V-Vice Admiral, wait....!"

Too late.

Garp launched himself with so much force that the ground shattered beneath him, sending Marines flying backward as he rocketed toward the explosion.

The Marines watched the massive crater he left behind.

"He's gone…"

"The ground cracked…"

"Should we even follow?"

"No."

"Absolutely not."

Meanwhile, Garp soared through the air, coat billowing behind him like a flag. The closer he got, the clearer the sound of blows became... explosive fire meeting Bogard's precise sword strikes.

"HAHAHAHAHA! YOU TWO BETTER NOT DESTROY THE WHOLE ISLAND BEFORE I ARRIVE!" Garp roared midair, voice echoing across the town.

Down below, Ace glanced up mid-fight, flames swirling around his arm and Garp managed to punch Ace from the back.

"Tch this is bad.... Gramps!?"

Ace stay here to wait for Luffy and Sabo, not to meet Garp and get beaten by him.

Bogard sighed. "This is going to get messy…"

And with that, Garp crashed into the battle between two of the like a meteor, ready to discipline his grandson and maybe punch him and make him agree to become sichibukai.

The cold air of Drum Island bit at Ace skin like tiny needles, but he barely noticed thanks to his logia power.

"Man… this island is colder than I expected," muttered Ace before using his logia power to make sure no snow and the surrounding ice melted.

After that he continue to roast the rabbit he'd hunted.

"Man… this island is colder than I expected," Ace muttered as steam rose from his shoulders.

He wiped his mouth and forced himself to make sure the food is cooked before bite it down.

"Woahhh... This is so tasty," Ace swallowed all the meat before saying. "Luffy… where are you now?" He had been here for a few days waiting for Luffy.

He was about to leave when a shadow fell over the snowy clearing.

A tall man stepped forward, and he knew this man, this is his grandfather subordinate named Bogard, with his hat low and his sword partially drawn, looked more like a hunter than a Marine.

"Portgas D. Ace," Bogard said calmly. "You will surrender. Now."

Ace raised an eyebrow. "Eh? Surrender? To who?"

"To the Marines, of course."

Ace scratched his cheek. "Mmm… I'll pass."

Bogard didn't move, but the air tightened around him. "I'm not asking."

Ace grinned. "Guess we're doing this the hard way then."

Without another word, Bogard vanished.

Ace's eyes widened. "His fast."

He tilted his head right as Bogard blade sliced past his cheek, leaving a thin trail of blood. Ace hand automatically hardened with Haki, blocking the next strike.

CLANG!

"Tch… not bad for an old guy subordinate," Ace smirked.

Bogard didn't reply. His attacks came even faster, sword flashing with cold precision. Ace dodged left, then right, sparks flying every time their Haki-clad limbs collided.

Ace felt excitement bubbling in his chest.

"Heh… you're strong. I like it!"

He pushed forward, punching with enough force to send a shockwave through the snow. Bogard leapt back, his boots skidding across the frozen ground.

Ace cracked his knuckles.

"Okay, okay… I admit it you are very strong and If I don't use my Logia, I might actually lose."

His body flickered... heat distorting the air.

"Mera Mera no…"

BOOM!!

Flames erupted around him, melting the snow and turning the clearing into a steaming crater. Bogard shielded his face with his arm, sword still firm in his grip.

Ace grinned wildly. "Don't die on me, Marine!"

He launched forward, flames trailing behind like a blazing comet.

Bogard braced himself...

But suddenly…

A voice thundered across the island.

"AAAAAAACEEEEEE!!"

Ace froze.

His entire body froze.

Every childhood trauma froze.

His flames sputtered out like a candle in the rain.

"…No. No way. No, no, no—"

BOOOOOM!

A massive fist slammed into the back of Ace's head.

"WAHAHAHAHAHA!!! THERE YOU ARE, YOU LITTLE BRAT!!!"

Ace face planted straight into the snow like a meteor.

"Tch this is bad.... Gramps!?" Ace wheezed, his muffled voice vibrating through the snow.

"Running around causing trouble, fighting my subordinate?! I raised you better than this!!"

Ace trembled. Not from fear of death, he had faced far worse.

But this bring back all the memory being hunted on the jungle.

It has been too long since he tasted Gramps fist of love.

Ace exploded out of the snow with a scream.

"NOOOOOOO! GET AWAY FROM ME OLD MAN!!!"

He turned into pure fire and ran.

Not fought.

He ran away very fast.

Through the forest, across the frozen river, past the screaming reindeer who sprinted in terror. Even the animals of Drum Island knew better than to get between Garp and a grandchild.

Behind him, the ground shook with every thunderous step.

"COME BACK HERE, ACEEEEEE!!! LET ME LOVE YOU!!! WAHAHAHAHA!!!"

"LOVE?! YOU CALL THAT LOVE?! YOU'RE TRYING TO KILL ME!!"

Bogard watched them sprint across the island, expression blank. With a sigh, he cleaned his blade and slid it back into its sheath.

"Vice Admiral Garp just took away my hunt…"

Ten minutes later, Ace was wheezing, flames flickering weakly. He hid behind a boulder, peeking out while gasping for breath.

"Did… did I lose him?"

CRACK!

A huge hand grabbed his head.

"I GOT YOU!"

"GYAAAAAAAHHHH!!"

Ace thrashed like a dying fish, but Garp held him with one hand, lifting him like a sack of potatoes.

"ACE! HOW DARE YOU RUN AWAY FROM YOUR GRANDPA! WHO TAUGHT YOU TO RUN?!"

"YOU DID!! YOU LITERALLY TRAINED ME TO RUN FROM FREAKING BOMBS AND FIST CANNONS!!"

"WAHAHAHAHA!! GOOD TRAINING, RIGHT?!"

"NOOOO!!!"

Garp fist descended again.

DON!!

Ace saw stars. Then comets. Then entire galaxies exploding.

He fell face-first into the snow, twitching.

"Ughhhh… old man… just let me die…"

Garp crossed his arms proudly. "Nonsense! Dying is for weaklings! Now get up.... you still owe me an explanation why you're on this island!"

Ace slowly pushed himself up, groaning. "I… I was searching for Luffy…"

Garp's eyes sparkled. "Luffy my other grandson? WAHAHAHA! So you did come for him!"

"I didn't say that!" Ace shouted, face red.

"You didn't need to! It's written all over your face!"

Bogard finally approached them, shaking his head. "Vice Admiral… should we apprehend him now?"

Garp blinked. Then waved his hand dismissively.

"Later. First, I need to beat some sense into him."

Ace energy left his body.

Bogard sighed.

"This is going to take a while…"
