Author's POV
According to legend, witches are among the most powerful supernatural beings. They wield spells and can control the elements. Witches are also known to be enemies of werewolves and vampires. This enmity has lasted for centuries, as the legend says, stemming from their differences and also from a brutal confrontation that even took place here, in Harmonie, to determine who is the strongest. They could have been allies, but the desire for power has always outweighed the will for peace.
Athénia's POV
???: My dear…
I slightly open my eyes and see a woman standing in front of me.
Athénia: Good heavens, who the hell are you?
The woman looks at me with mixed emotions.
???: My princess…
Athénia: What!?
I realize I'm not in my room anymore. I'm in a breathtaking place.
Athénia: Where am I???
???: My darling, you've become a beautiful woman. But now you must fight. You must form an alliance—you, the vampire prince, and the werewolf princess.
Athénia: And why would I!? Need I remind you that we've been enemies for centuries?
???: My dear, you must uncover the past and defeat the evil. You are powerful.
Athénia: Don't make me laugh. Only men have magic in their blood. We women are just machines meant to preserve the prosperity of heirs.
???: You...
I hear my alarm ringing. Ugh, what the hell is wrong with this alarm?
I slowly open my eyes and see that I'm in my room. Yep yet another vision, if I can even call it that. And once again, the alarm ruined everything. Hooray. I'll never find out what she wanted to tell me. I sit up on my bed and glance around. Some maids walk into my room and stare at me weirdly. As if I wasn't used to it. You want to know why? Because apparently, I'm "weird." I'm the only one in the kingdom with white hair and blue eyes. They treat me like a freak because of that. I don't see anything wrong with being different.
I ignore them and head to my bathroom. I look at myself in the mirror and see my blue eyes. It's true, I've never seen anyone else with eyes like mine or such white hair. Anyway, I'm just a "curse." Oh, let me explain.
For centuries, the GRONDS family has been known as the royal family of Harmonie. In our world that is, the world of witchcraft men are the only ones born with magic; women are merely vessels to carry heirs, which breeds a deep sense of inferiority. Harmonie looks like a human town because among the women, there are both humans and females with sorcerer blood who lack the magical abilities of men.
The royal family lives in the castle or as humans would call it, the grandest mansion. There's also a large primary and secondary school in Harmonie. Those who wish to continue their studies may leave for human lands. There's a big hospital as well, mostly to help women give birth. As for the males, they don't need hospitals to heal. From the age of two, boys can already use magic at that young age.
There are various shops, a park with a paradisiacal lake, and of course, many homes where the people live. From the outside, the royal family appears to be the wealthiest.
In the royal family, it's rare to have girls, they're considered curses. The first king, Arthemus Gronds, was the great founding ruler. Sons followed sons for generations, until the fourth generation, when a single daughter, Lisiane Gronds, was born. Her birth was seen as a disgrace to the family. She grew up enduring insults, which only stopped once she got married and gave birth to seven sons. The male line continued until this very generation the time I speak of now.
Anyway, I take off my clothes and get into the bathtub, fully submerging myself in the water while thinking about that damn vision. I have them every day, and it's always the same. I don't understand why or what the woman is talking about. I think I've seen her before, but I don't know where. All I know is that, like she said, I must join forces with Silver Moon and the vampires. I know, it sounds insane.
After a good hour in the water, I get out of the tub and put on a bathrobe, then walk out of the bathroom. I realize the maids are gone. I sigh thank goodness, I can't stand them. I hate those girls.
I head to my dressing room and, as the king says, look for an outfit appropriate for a princess. I choose a long, low cut dress and slip on my sandals. I look at myself and scoff
I look like a demonic angel. It's nearly breakfast time, so I leave my room and walk through the hallway. When I reach the stairs, I descend like a diva, wearing a smile as fake as my outfit. I enter the dining room.
Athénia: Good morning, everyone.
Nevine: You're late.
Ugh, how rude not even a "good morning." That's my father, the great king.
Athénia: Sorry, Father.
I walk to my seat and sit down as the servants begin to serve our food.
"Don't touch the princess!!" shouted a man's voice.
"Oh, another hero saving the princess from death," said another man's voice, sarcasm in his words.
"Even if it costs me my life, you will not harm the princess," said Man 1.
"We'll see about that. Wouldn't you like to join my army?" asked Man 2.
I couldn't see clearly; the two figures were blurred.
Man 1 drew his sword and infused it with a killing spell; he had a little hope that it would work.
"You have time to think," said Man 2.
Man 1 attacked while Man 2 blocked with his sword. It became a duel. Man 1 leaned backward as Man 2 tried to slit his throat in an instant. Im flipped the sword and drove it into Man 2's belly.
I heard a voice scream — my voice in the vision — but I couldn't hear what I was saying.
Man 1 screamed in pain and kicked Im, pushing him a little away.
"Time's up," the man said again.
"No — I will never betray the Chosen One, the future Supreme," said Man 1.
Man 1 fell to his knees, looking miserable.
"I'll repeat my question: will you join me?" Man 2 asked.
"Never," replied Man 1.
"Pathetic. You're so loyal to someone you probably don't even know," mocked Man 2.
"You're wrong. I know the Chosen One well. She's a woman determined to do anything to save us all," said Tevi.
"Still, she won't save you," Man 2 said, smiling dangerously.
"I know. It is my destiny to die for the awakening of the Chosen One. It is my fate to die, and I accept it willingly," said Tevi.
Im looked at Tevi with a dark expression edged with danger.
"Will you join my army? I'll give you five minutes to decide," Man 2 asked, glancing at his watch.
"My decision has been clear from the start," murmured Man 1.
"So — have you made your decision?" Man 2 asked once more.
"I am only a tool to create the Supreme, a fighter. I always knew I would have to die one way or another," answered Man 1.
"And your decision — will you die for this woman?" asked Im.
"She is not just a woman but the future of the entire hybrid race. She is the Chosen One we've heard about for centuries. My duty is now done; it's time to make way for another to continue learning to become the Supreme," replied Man 1.
"Tevi, would you stop dreaming? I will kill this Chosen One," said Man 2.
"She was born to win," said Man 1.
"And I was born to destroy her. But don't worry — your death won't be as painful as hers," said Man 2.
He plunged his sword straight into Man 1's heart, leaving him dead.
In shock, I dropped my spoon.
"Why did you drop that?" my father said disapprovingly.
"I'm sorry," I said in a trembling voice as I picked up my spoon.
"Always seeking attention," my brother murmured. I ignored him. I need to pull myself together.
