Location:The Millford Road; Seven Peaks — the north gate paving, the arch, the passage, the Hall
Date/Time:TC1858.03.30 – TC1858.04.03
She smelled Seven Peaks an hour before she saw it, and for a while she thought she'd made it up.
Woodsmoke, a great deal of it, from a great many fires, lying along the valley under the cloud. Under that, faintly, beans. Brisk stopped in the middle of the road with her weight on the good foot and breathed it, and it was still there, and she said out loud to nobody, "That's the Hall," because there was nobody else to say it to and she wanted to hear whether it sounded true.
It was the fifth morning since the bridge. She'd stopped counting them on the second and started again on the fourth, when she found she could.
