It had been awhile since the last school bell rang, Tatsuya had just finished changing his shoes and was walking out the main school gate carrying his backpack on his shoulders.
The sun had almost disappeared, most the students had already gone home, the only students could be seen walking down the pavement.
He continued walking and thinking to himself, ' I know should focus on my quest but somehow I can't help but worry about those two, Ren didn't asking me anything about the quest... '
He stopped walking and then stared down, ' Is it a sign that he trust me with it or does he not just care? ' he wondered.
He stood still for a moment but no answer came to mind, " ahhh, this so frustrating. " He snapped as he began walking again.
' I just hope today there is nothing to deliver last time was so scary, ' he thought as held his chest, ' and my heart won't stop racing whenever I think about it, but... somehow I don't feel too scared at all. '
After that he continued walking in silence while he asked and answered questions in his head as time went by.
Later into the evening.
The door of an elevator opened and Tatsuya walked out, he walked to a door with the tag, " 503 " then took out keys from his pocket and opened the it.
At the entrance he took of his shoes and put them into the shelf.
Then he walked past the living room, which was surprisingly well kept, everything was in place and on the other side the sink was clean and the utensils looked sparkly.
He immediately he went straight to the door with a straw hat and orange ball with a star on.
When he entered the room, the most of wall covered in Manga art. One side had shelves filled with anime figures and Manga volumes.
He turned his head from side to other and looked around the room as he let his backpack fall on the floor.
Then he took a deep breath like he was sucking the all the air in the room and then he let the air out, " nothing beats the feeling of being in the presence of greatness. "
With that he jumped and let his body fall on the bed, then turned to he face the celling. In the celling there was a mirror which reflected his face.
While he was looking at his reflection as dragged down his lower eyelid with a finger.
" why do my eyes look so dead? " He asked himself as he tried to open them wider.
" And trying to forcefully open them wider just makes me look weird, but strangely I don't feel tired at all, " He stated his a bit tone hesitant.
" Did all those nights I spent binge watching anime finally get to me? I should visit a shrine just to safe." he decided then he got off the bed.
His eyes moved to the jacket with a headless spider hanging on the wall.
Meanwhile in the very night Ren and Rick where walking together down a busy road, on one side there a group of boys watching the river flow as they chatted.
As the two walked Ren put his hands in his pockets while Rick was busy staring at his phone, " Not getting a quest is making me feel unease. " Rick stated his voice sounding a bit impatient.
" I'm sure the new upgrade comes with quirks of it's own, give it time, " Ren said, his red eyes focusing on the road in front of them.
" Yeah it feels like the app is just messing with us at this point, " Rick said as he place a hand on his chest. " And my heart won't stop racing each time I get a notification, "
Then after a paused Rick said, " Oh, Boss man I forgot to tell you, before you came to get me a few students came looking for you, most of them were second years. "
" Is that so, " Ren replied in a uninterested voice without looking at Rick.
" Yeah and most of them were members of the basketball team, " Rick started explaining while a smirk appeared on his face. " they basically wanted to meet you because they heard stories of how you won the dodgeball game. "
" I see, so they wanted to challenge me or possibly recruit depending on how they saw me, is that right? " Ren asked the tone of his voice calm.
" Impressive your guess is correct, " Rick said as a smirk appeared on his face, " that's the boss man for you, it's like you already knew it was going to happen and they mostly wanted to challenge more than recruit you. "
Ren eyes glanced to the right side, looking at Rick as he thought, ' it's not that impressive, early stages basic plotline. Predictable and mostly boring... And I won't be taking any part of it. '
" They said the story they heard about you how took me down was unreal and a threat their reputation as team. So they had to see it for themselves and put you in your place. " Rick said with a mocking tone while holding back laughter.
" If it becomes a quest I'll indulge them... but I don't see a chance of that happening, " Ren added before the sound of a dog barking became audible.
From a distance a dog came running straight at Ren, it was huge, had long sharp teeth and each bark was louder and felt deeper than the other.
The smirk on Rick's face grew and Ren's shifted his gaze at the dog his red piercing eyes looking down on it.
Upon making eye contact with Ren the dog stopped moving it's legs and the force made it slide for about to second before it quickly turned around and ran as fast it could while whimpering.
Rick then let out a chuckle, " hehe, I bet the dog was like stick to the script man, I'm suppose to the scary one here, " he said in a playfully tone.
Ren didn't react he just continued walking, ' I hate that most animals are naturally afraid of me, they do say animals can see things ordinary humans can't... '
He then moved his hand up and looked at it, ' is that suppose the reason they're afraid of me... Because they can see what I really am. '
Then Ren mumbled to himself, " who cares it's not like animals anyways. "
The dog widened the distance between them, as it ran towards a person.
As Ren and Rick got closer to the person, they noticed a girl with long black hair tied in a pony tail, she had leaned down slightly while patting the dogs head trying to come it down.
But as soon as the dog saw Ren, it slowly walked behind the girl with it's tail between it's legs.
" Wow this the first time, I've seen Red humbled like that, he's always vicious. " The girl said in a impressed and amused tone.
" Huh, who? " Rick' asked with raising an eyebrow, then they stopped walking before her.
" Red, that's his name. I hope it didn't scare or bite you. " The girl said with slightly concerned in her green eyes.
' Red, so what? we are just naming our dogs anything nowadays. ' Rick thought as his eyes narrowed slightly.
Then with a forced smile he answered, " no, not at all, we are fine. "
Ren was silently watching with his hands his pockets as the two talked.
Mid conversation the girl suddenly clapped her hands together, " wait a moment you are Ren and you are Rick from class A and B, don't you recognize me? "
Rick started snapping his fingers continuously while slightly looking up, " you look familiar, you're... You're..."
" I'm Kaide, Kaide Takamiya class B's representative, you know it's kinda surprising that you guys don't know me. " She said mock pouting with a smile on her face.
" The student council did mention you at one point... " Ren added
" And? " Her eyes began light up as she waited for Ren to say more about her.
" Huh, what? " Ren raised one eyebrow slightly higher than the other not knowing what to reply.
Kaide then let out a defeated sigh, " well it doesn't matter, " she then leaned to her dog and brushed at it ear, " come on it's alright, let's go now. " She started jogging and the dogs began swinging it's tail.
" Well it was nice meeting you two I wish could talk longer but I've got to finish my exercise, let's remember each other the next time we talk. " She said before jogging off.
' What a strange person, not boring but not interesting either. I'm surprised I could see her face clearly despite it being the first time we've talked, I don't know if she's an NPC or not. ' Ren noted to himself as he began walking.
Rick followed behind but right after taking a few steps he heard his phone ring while catching up to Ren, he got his phone out of his pocket.
Then Ren commented, " you've got your quest, what you were looking forward to has finally happened. I hope your skills at adequate for the challenge. "
" Obviously I'll handle it with ease, I mean a quest can't be that hard, " Then after opening the Guide notification and seeing what it read he stopped walking.
His breathing started to increase and a wide smile appeared on face showing his gritted teeth.
Ren noticed Rick's reaction and turned his head looked at the screen and upon reading it his eyes narrowed slightly before returning to their normal state.
The text read:
" KEEP KAIDE TAKAMIYA ALIVE FOR AS LONG AS YOU CAN, +900 POINTS. "
Rick's sky blue eyes were filled with an intensity while staring at the screen, reading the text repeatedly without moving an inch.
