When Rick slowly opened his eyes, he found himself staring at the ceiling. The sun's rays bouncing off his face as it neared it's dusk, the shadows in the room were leaning to the left side.
He moved his upper body up into a sitting position and began stretching his arms, tilted his head to the sides which made a cracking sound.
After he was done stretching he moved his legs to the side on the bed and stood up, he looked around the room was empty as the wind breezed through the curtains.
Then he tried to move his leg forward but instead he saw the his face getting closer the floor as he couldn't move his leg.
As he was about to hit the ground he place a hand on the ground and saved himself at the last second, and then sound of the door opening could be heard from a distance.
It was Tatsuya who had entered the room. he had a juice box in his hand and a straw in his mouth
Tatsuya immediately noticed Rick on the floor as he quickly lifted himself up and sat on the bed.
" I didn't know you were that sick, " Tatsuya said his tone netrual took a sip of his juice. " is the brain damage that bad, it's causing to kiss the floor? "
A smirk then creeped on Rick's face before he replied, " heh heh real funny, little weeb spends a day in a gang and now he thinks is better than me. "
" Is that news to you? " Tatsuya stated as he took another sip. " The ranking already showed that I'm better, soo... "
Rick then a placed a finger on his mouth and he glanced to the side without turning his head, " huuuh, what ranking? I didn't see any list like that. "
" I don't know, The one were you were position hundred, " Tatsuya replied the tone of his voice calculated and mocking.
" It was number thirty, " Rick replied immediately without hesitation.
" Aaah, so you do know about it and does position thirty make it any better? "
Rick opened his mouth to reply but he paused for a moment then clenched his jaw and look down, ' dawn it, he got me. I really hate that stupid computer club with those rankings which are obviously fake... '
Rick then let out a frustrated sigh, " Anyways what happened to me? What am I doing here? " He asked his voice low and calm.
" You just passed out, " Tatsuya said as he tried to squeeze his juice box but only air came out the straw. " The nurse said you drank or ate something which highly stimulated your nervous system. "
Rick's eye narrowed slightly, " That can't be true I skip out on lunch and breakfast today, " he explained.
" Well whatever you did, you came in contact with a stimulant and it somehow got into your bloodstream and with your weak immune system... just passing out was favourable outcome. " Tatsuya explained while chewing on the straw.
Rick's one eye raised higher than the other, " uh, I can only understand one language, you know. Use words please. "
" Don't worry about it too much, the nurse already gave a ejection to neutralize it which means you'll be fine, " Tatsuya explained while chewing on the straw.
Rick sky blue eyes studied Tatsuya's face then after a short pause he asked, " have you talked with Ren today? "
" Yeah he was just with me when we first came to check on you a while back, " Tatsuya answered his blue eyes looking down on Rick.
" Is that so... Did you notice anything different? "
Tatsuya paused for a moment and mumbled to himself, " notice anything different... "
' as much as I can remember he didn't act that different at all, did I miss something? ' he wondered to himself.
He then took out the straw from his mouth and threw it in the trash bin before answering," No, nothing really stood out to me. Did something happen? "
" Nope not at all, I was just wondering if he got his quest? " Rick replied the tone of his voice calculated as he grabbed his phone at the table.
He then opened the Guide app and scrolled down, " As you can see, for me I'm still waiting. " He stated as he faced the screen of the phone to Tatsuya.
" Better nothing than the quest I got? " Tatsuya complained.
" Boo hoo, keeping crying while having the most exciting quest so far, " Rick stated his voice was in mocking tone.
" Change the word exciting to dangerous, with my team it won't be long before someone gets themselves killed. " Tatsuya added then he muttered to himself, " and don't even get me started on my mischaracterization. "
Then before walking away he said, " most of the students have gone home by now. So I'll be off now, I still have a quest to finish. "
He then paused while opening the door and turned his head slightly back, " just be patient I'm sure the Guide app has an interesting quest for you. "
With that Tatsuya walked out the door and Rick remained sitting on the bed.
Meanwhile Ren had just opened the door to the roof and in front of him was Horikita, she was on her knees and sitting on her legs.
The wind blushing through her black hair, her emerald eyes reflecting the chess pieces on the board in front of her.
" What are you doing? " Ren asked as he approached her. " Shouldn't we be looking for the source of this collapsing problem, "
" I already know the cause, " She stated with no hesitation and her tone certain as she moved a white knight piece in front. " Right now, I'm trying to figure out who the main culprit is. "
' She replied with that much certainty, her deduction skill must be very high levelled, because even I have no idea what's going on. ' Ren noted to himself, his red eyes looked down at her.
" I see, soo is that why you called here? " He asked.
" You are correct, our culprit appears to be very cautious and aware of my presence, so It's hard for me be involved directly without many... casualties, " she explained.
Then her eyes began to look more intense. " So that's were you come in the equation, with you around it will be easy to take down my enemies. Everyone involved will regret it because I won't let anyone ruin the order of this school and get away with it. "
" Let me guess you basically want me to operate from the shadows while you remain in the spotlight and guide me catch your... culprit, " Ren then let out a deep breath.
Then he mover closer to her and asked in a slow and serious voice, " what made you think I would agree? "
Horikita's face remained calm as she moved a black pawn two steps forward, " I didn't, that's why I'm not giving you much to do because even the little you do will affect everything. "
Then she moved a white bishop four step and killed killed the pawn, " talking about this reminds on of the interesting theory Ilya came up with when it comes to chess... she said all the pieces are female. "
Ren narrowed slightly his red eyes slightly a hint of curiosity but didn't say anything.
Then Horikita continued, " her theory comes from how a pawn can be turned into the knight, the bishop, the castle and the queen but can't be turn into a king. "
" The queen is obviously female and pawn which turn into others pieces can't be turned into king which is the only obviously male which means that all the pieces are female, " She said then out amused chuckle.
" And speaking of the king despite having the least moves it's fate determines the victory or defeat, don't you find that interesting, " she asked as she moved the king forward.
" I'm more disturbed than interested by how that somehow makes sense to me, " Ren replied in his causal tone.
" That's a reasonable reply, I thought that same when she said it to me that I almost laughed. " She stated and then a fire appeared in her eyes, " Rick Katagiri, will you become the king to this game I'm about to start playing? And help destroy my enemies. "
A smirk appeared on Ren's face as he offered her his hand, " sure as long as you can back up what you are saying because I don't like having my time wasted. "
A smile appeared on Horikita's face her emerald eyes reflecting Ren's face as she grab and shook his hand.
