Chapter 1 - Deepu's thoughts

Deepu's man's talk

Deepu's thoughts

Being the youngest in the family, Deepu got into great trouble.

Although his friends were jealous of him for being the darling of everyone in the house, he was not happy about it at all. He had to listen to everyone's scoldings all day long and had to do all kinds of forced labour.

If Mummy or Grandma had given him a little affection in return, it would not have been a big deal! Didi and Bhaiya would have given him everything without any money.

Considering him as a servant, they would make him dance the whole day.

At the most she would give me a toffee or a coloured chocolate and I would be off.

On such occasions he would think, "If only he had grown up like these people, he would have had some authority in the house too.

As brother and sister grew up, they did not consider anyone as their equal.

Granted, he studies in higher classes, but that doesn't mean that the others are lower."

Really, at least this was what he thought about Deepu.

It was as if they had no idea that Deepu had grown up now, was going to school, was studying in the fourth grade, and so on.

And he is also the monitor of his class.

For them, he was the same little Deepu whom they loved whenever they wanted and scolded and sent away whenever they wanted.

"Even mom and dad don't say anything to him and take his side."

Both of them had a table to study and a cupboard to keep their books.

Deepu had a peg on which he would hang his bag and he would spread a mat on the ground to study.

Papa would sometimes make space on his table for him to keep him happy, but sitting next to Papa would already drain half of my life. How would I be able to study?

When my sister and brother were studying, no one in the house would allow him to speak loudly.

But while Deepu was studying, we would watch the TV with the volume on full.

Deepu's friends kept coming and going throughout the day but no one even asked them to sit, but Didi or Bhaiya's friends had to sit and formally greet Deepu.

Mummy used to prepare a lot of breakfast for them, it was Deepu's job to deliver the breakfast from the kitchen.

It was Deepu's daily work to deliver books to sister and brother's friends.

There was an alarm clock in the house, it was kept at the headrest of Didi and Bhaiya in turn.

Deepu had a great hope that he too would sleep with the alarm clock near his pillow and start his day with its melodious sound, but it was written in his fate that he would have to wake up at 8 in the morning after being scolded by his parents.

Deepu used to wonder, what are the exams of Didi and Bhaiya? They keep going on everyday, whenever you see them, they get up at four o'clock and sit down to study!

One day, he became adamant.

"Today I will sleep with an alarm clock. Don't we have to study? Every time I see you, I see the pride of my brother and sister!"

Didi started saying, "What time do you have to get up? I will wake you up!"

Deepu, if I had to tell it to others, I would have told mom, at least she would have woken me up lovingly.

At last mom felt pity.

She said, "Sheelu, your exams are over today. Tomorrow you don't have to get up early. Try to please Deepu once in a while."

Mom's recommendation worked.

The alarm clock was ready to be placed near Deepu's bedside. He wanted to wind the clock with his own hands, but Didi's face

He became silent after seeing it.

He was getting an alarm clock, that was enough.

He kept having dreams of alarms all night. He kept all his books under his pillow so that he could wake up in the morning and read.

I was also thinking of placing a table lamp, but had to remain silent out of fear.

He had set the alarm for five o'clock and slept, but when he woke up in the morning, the sun had spread in the room like every day. He looked near the bed,

She was missing. I understood that Didi must have done this after she fell asleep.

"Mommy...." he cried loudly.

Would.

"What ?"

Mom's irritated voice came from the kitchen.

"Where is my watch?"

He shouted, looking suspiciously at his sister who was combing the room.

Didi said, "The watch has passed away, Raja Bhaiya." There was so much sweetness in Didi's voice that Deepu got nervous.

"What happened?"

she asked in surprise

"Brother said that"

"What was supposed to happen?"

Last night you kicked her so hard that she jumped high." Bhaiya replied in a roundabout manner.

"But... but it was kept near the pillow, how did it get kicked?" Deepu could not understand anything.

"Bhaiya made a face and said, your head was not on the pillow, you kept moving from one place to another on the bed all night!" "What a loud sound it made when it fell. The whole house was awake, except you."

Didi teased me again.

"There is a limit to pampering."

"For a little stubbornness he got the watch completely destroyed.

Now that alarm clock can't even be repaired.

With a sad mind, Deepu quietly went and sat on the cot lying in the courtyard.

Dandi, chanting a rosary near the Tulsi tree in the courtyard of the house, asked.

"Why, what happened?"

"I broke the watch while sleeping and everybody is scolding me."

"You too are a complete idiot."

Grandmother said to him lovingly,

Deepu, I needed an alarm clock to study in the morning.

"Grandmother "

"Okay, tell me, when there were no clocks, did people not stay awake?

Just look at me, I wake up every day at four o'clock and after taking a bath, I go to the Laxminarayan aarti.

What watch do I sleep with?"

Grandmother's words forced Deepu to think.

Grandma! How do you wake up so early in the morning?

Grandmother!

"There is one thing, won't you tell anyone?

Keep this trick to yourself."

Deepu shook his head.

Grandma took him to her bedside.

"Look, this is my pillow, I tell it at night while sleeping, 'Brother Pillow, wake me up at four in the morning.' That's it, it wakes me up."

When Deepu heard the trick, his eyes widened in surprise. He kept waiting the whole day for the night to come so that he could sleep on the pillow.

See the miracle.

At night, he spoke his thoughts to the pillow without anyone noticing and went to sleep peacefully. When he woke up in the morning, it was still eight o'clock.

The same situation continued on the second day, then on the third and fourth day as well. He removed this remedy from his mind.

I understood that like grandmother's tales of ghosts and fairies, this too is an imaginary thing.

One day Deepu felt the need for an alarm clock, but the alarm clock was broken.

Deepu said to his sister, "Sister, will you wake me up at 5 in the morning?

"Didi", "Tomorrow! No, baba, tomorrow is Sunday. Tomorrow I will not get up before 8 o'clock."

Bhaiya told me, "where do you have to go to shoot arrows tomorrow?"

He got very angry at this.

As always, Mummy took his side.

She said, "Hey, her school is going on a picnic tomorrow. The school bus will leave at 7:00 in the morning.

I finish all my work so late at night that I can't say yes in the morning."

Deepu, Grandma, will you wake me up at 5 o'clock?

Grandma! Why five, I will wake you up at four.

Saying this, grandmother huddled under her quilt.

Deepu took the help of a pillow to wake up at 5:00 in the morning, "Pillow brother, please wake me up tomorrow, exactly at 5:00, otherwise the bus will leave at 7:00."

What a surprise it was! When he opened his eyes in the morning, there was darkness all around. He thought it was night and lay quietly out of fear.

After a while, he heard the voice of 'Raghupati Raghav Rajaram' from grandmother's room and he regained some peace. He ran to grandmother's room.

She was still under the quilt.

"Grandma, I woke up before you!"

"Why so early?" Grandma said to him while lying in the quilt.

"We have to go on a picnic today. You know grandma, we will go at 7:00 in the morning.

Look at mom, she is still sleeping.

When will the food be ready? We have to reach school at 7:00."

Deepu complained.

"Then it's still very late. It's only five o'clock!"

"Five!" Deepu shouted happily, "Then Pillow's brother woke me up on time!"

"I told you so."

"Where, Grandma.

Deepu complained, "He did not wake me up even once for so many days."

Grandmother called him and said,

"Deepu son, you have gone mad. Does even a pillow speak?"

The real magic is in our heart. It wakes us up when we need to do something.

You can turn off the sound of the clock, but the sound of the mind never stops; it wakes you up!

Deepu becomes very happy after knowing the secret of the sound of this unique clock.
