I opened my eyes and realised I was nothing yet. I remember being something, I once had an identity, a name, memories, and then I one day died floating in this endless void, being eroded by it till my soul disappeared.
Yet, for some reason, I felt it won't.
[Oh no, I think I might have come a little late]
Neptune said with panic. I do not know why I called him Neptune, maybe because I am seeing a man with fins and a trident, or I am just hallucinating once again.
[Ahem Hello young soul, I apologise for being a little bit late, now...let's just fix your soul though you won't get your memories you will get relief.]
I felt a strange surge of energy fill me up, and for some reason, I gained awareness of my existence for a brief second before I let out a sigh. "A little but late? It felt like I was slowly being devoured by a primal force?"
[Yeah, that's my bad....anyways Repeat number #6 or #7 I am a God placed upon the reincarnation circle job since I kinda messed up and a certain person made me do this forcefully and now that I had suddenly lost track of my job, I have to compensate you while also giving you access to four spins of the wheel.]
So I'm just going to ignore all that and focus on my compensation. "Ok, what's the wheel?"
[Well, originally, I was going to allow you one try of the wheel to gain an ability. Now I have to give you an ability wheel try, a legacy wheel try, an item wheel try, and a world wheel try. So yeah,.]
That is quite specific, but I am interested in the wheel and also the prospect of coming back to life and escaping the oppressive darkness. With excitement, I immediately spoke. "Ok, let's begin."
The giant fish man whom I refused to call Neptune waved his hand, and a giant wheel appeared right behind me. Of course, I could see it since I currently had no eyes and could just see 360 because I am technically a floating orb of light. "So do I touch it. Also, which wheel is this?"
Neptune chuckled. [It's the ability wheel, and you can use it by simply touching it.].
I was amazed by the entire mechanism of it, but I didn't stay for long and immediately touched it, and as soon as I did, it began spinning rapidly and I stared at it for a long time until it stopped and the entire wheel lit up in gold.
The ability I got was something called. [Trial By Error]. "What does that mean?"
Neptune's eyes twitched, and he stared at the wheel. He sighed and then turned to me. [Yeah, I don't know why this still exists, but anyways, it is basically an ability that allows you to rapidly adapt to things you have failed. For example, you have failed to live, so now you have learned to escape death, you have failed to win against someone, you begin to learn to adapt to the fighting style and abilities of that person, you have failed to see what you cannot see, you start to find a way to see what you can't see. The ability basically makes all failures and defeats a trial, and if you fail them, the trial would be treated as an error that you would begin to automatically correct, making you seem perfect in almost everything. The ability has limits, but it would also slowly treat that as an error and will begin correcting itself, making it and you virtually limitless.]
"Isn't that a bit of an exaggeration?" I asked, not truly believing such a broken thing exists.
[Well somewhat yeah, if you somehow die and come back then you start to learn ways to avoid death, if you lose to someone a considerable amount of time you would be able to beat them soon, if you concentrate your perception on something you can't see, then after some time you could see it the ability isn't instantaneous like that but it can become instantaneous like let's say, you're fighting someone and your slowly getting injured you then begun to block that attack and soon you even parry it then your opponent moves to the next attack and then vice versa.]
I definitely hit a jackpot. "Ok, the next wheel, please."
[The next wheel is the legacy wheel. Get ready because you will receive all the memories of that person you rolled and their appearance and their abilities and items even though it is not the actual person but a perfect identity of it, so brace yourself.]
"Yeah, yeah, just summon the wheel." I was too excited to care about owning someone's entire identity.
I spun the wheel once again and watched as it began to speed, I began to anticipate what I would get this time.
The wheel spun once more, and after a few more seconds, it began to stop, and a golden colour was apparent again. The words written were [Chara Dreemur—The Seven Human Souls.]
Huh wha—.
"That fucking hurts?!!." I said as I clutched my head, I could feel countless little things pricking my head and could feel my 'soul' expanding a bit until it began to change from its normal shape into that of a red heart.
The pain soon subsided, and i gained the memories of the person it landed in, and damn was there a lot of hate there, like I understand being killed by the father of your supposed brother and your brother wanting to save you but in the process blew up both him and your soul basically turning you into a metaphysical ghost with no soul but only a spirit.
Anyways since I have no name at the moment, I shall refer to myself as Chara.
[Oh, not a bad legacy, has high potential if used properly and having all the seven human souls is also not bad...]
"Sure, ignoring the fact that they are somewhat alive, it is not bad," I said as I tried to ignore the voices of the souls in my head.
The fishman didn't wait and summoned the next wheel, which was an item wheel.
I didn't think much of it and just spun the wheel. Soon, the wheel turned into another colour, and it became red, and what I got was specific. [Death Scythe Embryo]
"What is that exactly?" I said, turning to the fish man.
[It's something from a univers that was originally filled with people who could control fire but was remade into a univers where souls and reapers exist and also scythes which are just spirits infused Into a weapon, they usually evolve by devouring 99 fallen souls and one with soul but the one you got is readjusted to devouring a hundred souls and each soul can allow the weapon to change appearance and gain an ability, just put it on top of a weapon and it will be infused. It is from a world called Soul Eater.]
That's useful, I'll just put it in the Real Knife and see what would happen when I am in my new world. "The next wheel, please, I am tired of staying in this peripheral and terrifying void."
The fish man summoned the next wheel, and I didn't hesitate to push it. The wheel began spinning, and then it abruptly stopped. The world it landed on was called [One Punch Man], whatever that means.
[Now that we are done, the compensation that was meant to be given to you will be transferred to this world, and do not worry as I am not scum I have given you a house that has some food and also sweets, now then Chara, I shall send you on your way goodbye.]
As he said that, a flash of light consumed me, but I heard something before it fully did.
"Why am I being referred to as fishman..."
.....
I felt like I was inside water, but that was not the case, I was actually on a bed, and above me were six floating balls of light, which were the six human souls, determination was naturally me, anyway the souls were hanging above me and they seemed silent now so I just pulled them back into my soul and sat up.
I then pulled out my inventory and took out my real knife and also the Death Scyhr Embryo, which looked like a glowing ble dumpling with the image of a chibi soul within it. I shoved it into the Real Knife, forcefully not giving a second to admire it
The real knife shuddered for a moment before I felt a connection to it, I observed it, and so there were no changes in it, I think I would put it back into the inventory but before I could do that I heard a voice talking to me.
"Can you not put me in there? It's actually quite stuffy." The voice came from the knife which, for some reason, did not actually surprise me.
I raised a brow and turned the knife upside down. "Where should I keep you then, I could mistake you for a cooking knife and cut things with you."
The knife shuddered as if disgusted. "Ugh, no, but if you don't mind, I wouldn't mind sinking my blade into the flesh of living creatures and tasting their blood as they silently scream, watching their souls being consumed. Mmmmh~ just thinking of that makes me excited, Master let's go cut some things, let's go on a genocidal spree and kill as much as we can."
Yeah, I was tempted to put it back into the inventory. Why did my knife have a strange personality all of a sudden, like can it be normal...ugh well whatever it was my decision to put the Death Embryo in so I guess I'd have to live with it. "Not now. First, I have to explore this house and then see what my compensation is, the fish man might be angry for me calling him a fish man so he might make it hard for me to find the compensation."
"...Bummer, but I'll help you check." The real knife somehow jumped out of my hand and transformed into a human. She looked cute, to say the least. She had red eyes and sharp little teeth, her hair colour was silver, and the style ot was in were twin drill. She wore a black and white nothing, lolita.
Well, now I can't treat her like a weapon in this form. What a bummer, and I have to also give her a name. "I'll just call you Rael."
Rael looked at me suspiciously. "Isn't Rael just real with the a place before the e, Master are you uncreative?"
Wow, not even an hour after being born, and she is already criticising me. "I'm not uncreative, I just thought it would be a suitable name for you."
Rael pouted and crossed her arms. "Fine, but I want to kill something later."
Bloodthirsty little brat, isn't she? Well, if I find something killable, I wouldn't mind, so I just nodded to her and got off the bed.
She followed me. When I took a step I heard a crack then I looked down, and I somehow stepped on a phone
I froze as the phone hissed beneath my foot like a living thing—glass spiderwebbing into a hundred tiny fractures. A pale blue light still leaked from the cracks, stubborn as a heartbeat. The screen flashed an icon I somehow recognised: a tiny wheel, the same shape as the ones Neptune spun, only smaller.
A blue panel then appeared in front of me and the phine turned to dust.
[You have been given the Megalomaniacs Multiversal group chat, currently, you can send out four random invites across the multiverse. Do you wish to send out invites?.]
Oh so it's random...but why am I getting a group chat?. I turned to Rael. "Can you see that?"
She tilted her head as if confused. "See what?"
So she can't see it, oh well.
