"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 157: He's Probably Mad I'm Dating His Sister
Monday morning, the start of a new week.
Draconis skipped school as planned. After teleporting, he found himself at the base of a mountain, its summit crowned by an old shrine—one that hadn't seen worshippers in ages.
He climbed the stone steps, senses alert. The air buzzed with power: divine, but laced with something darker. Godly, yet tinged with magic. Strange.
At the top, a torii gate stood sentinel. This was holy ground—a place no devil should set foot. Yet Draconis felt no threat here. Not even a twinge.
"Welcome, Draconis."
A voice called out from beneath the torii. Akeno waited, dressed in shrine maiden robes.
"Akeno." He smiled, stepping closer. "You look incredible in that outfit."
She slipped her arm through his, drawing him in for a kiss. The embrace lingered, soft and unhurried, until Draconis finally patted her back and pulled away.
"You didn't drag me out here just for a private make-out session, did you? Rias would go nuclear."
He took her hand, leading the way toward the shrine.
Akeno chuckled. "Rias is busy finalizing the conference details with Sirzechs. She'll swing by later."
"So Michael's waiting inside?"
"Mm-hmm. I'll go with you. This way."
"You seem pretty familiar with this place," Draconis noted, keeping it casual.
Akeno's smile faded, replaced by a wistful look. "I lived here for a while, back when the previous shrine master was still alive. After he passed, no one took care of it. I asked Rias to help preserve it."
Draconis had heard rumors—Akeno carried fallen angel blood. Seeing her in shrine maiden garb, he'd always suspected she had deeper ties to places like this. Today confirmed it.
She led him to the main hall.
A voice rang out from above—calm, dignified. "So you're Draconis. We finally meet."
Golden light burst from the heavens, a shaft of radiance descending. Within it, a figure materialized: halo gleaming, white wings unfurled, robes immaculate and trimmed with gold. The very image of an angelic god.
The young man smiled with serene warmth and offered his hand. "Greetings. I am Michael, Chief of Angels."
The Archangel himself.
Draconis shook his hand, following Michael into the shrine. The guy radiated power—no question. But Draconis wasn't some rookie anymore. If push came to shove, he could escape. Besides, he had devil backing now. No need to be intimidated.
"Lord Michael, what brings me here?" Draconis asked, standing beside Akeno.
Michael smiled. "Actually, I have something for you."
A sword appeared before him, floating in midair, wreathed in white, holy energy.
Draconis narrowed his eyes. "A Holy Sword, isn't it?"
"You've heard of Saint George, I'm sure. This is the weapon he wielded—Ascalon, the Dragon Slayer."
Dragon Slayer.
Even the name sent a chill through the soul.
Dragons existed in this world—beings nearly equal to gods. Draconis had met one of the famed Two Heavenly Dragons before: Vali, host of the White Dragon Emperor's Sacred Gear.
The White Dragon Emperor and Red Dragon Emperor—legendary beasts, their power passed down through human hosts. Vali had emerged; the Red Dragon Emperor's host was still missing. Staring at Ascalon, Draconis's mind raced.
Michael's timing was suspicious. He knew the fallen angels had the White Dragon Emperor on their side, yet he handed over a Dragon Slayer sword now? What was his angle?
Was he trying to stir the pot?
Draconis kept his poker face. "A holy relic, huh? Why give it to me? I'm a devil."
Michael's smile was gentle. "Don't worry. I've modified the sword—devils can wield it now. And you've already achieved holy-demonic fusion. That's why I chose you."
He continued, voice steady. "I see this meeting as a chance for the three great factions to finally make peace. Our Creator God is gone, the old Maou are dead, and the fallen angels' leaders have vanished. The timing couldn't be better."
Draconis shot back, deadpan. "This opportunity has been sitting here for centuries."
Michael nodded. "They were always hesitant before. But now, if we don't unite, other powers will get involved. We have to act."
He gestured to the sword. "This Holy Sword is a gift to the devils. I've given something to the fallen angels too, and the devils have sent us legendary Holy-Demonic swords. The balance is clear."
Draconis couldn't help but laugh. "A gift from the angels to the devils? And I'm the lucky recipient? That's asking for trouble. What did I do to deserve this?"
Michael's eyes twinkled. "You're too modest. Your achievements are well known. And this was your Maou's decision—no one would dare object."
Draconis muttered under his breath, "Sure, just my luck. He's probably mad I'm dating his sister and wants to paint a target on my back."
Michael: "…"
Akeno: "…"
Hard to argue with that.
