Chapter 72 - 《DXD: Transfer Student》Chapter 72: It's Not That Studying Is Useless

Honestly, Draconis had expected Yotsuba's warning to mean Ichika's room would be overflowing with girly knickknacks—maybe a few secret stashes, maybe a mountain of plushies.

He was wrong. So wrong.

The moment the door swung open, the disaster revealed itself: a dozen pairs of shoes scattered across the entryway, even though the shoe cabinet was already stuffed to bursting. Shopping bags piled everywhere, half-open and spilling out stockings, shirts, and what looked suspiciously like last week's laundry.

No lights were on, but Draconis's devilish eyesight had no trouble in the gloom. He could pick out panties and bras draped carelessly over hangers, a few even dangling off the wardrobe door. Chaos was an understatement.

"…Did someone rob this place?" Draconis deadpanned.

Yotsuba didn't even blink, just flicked on the lights. "Ichika's room is always like this."

On the bed, Ichika stirred, cocooned in a thin blanket. She sat up, blinking sleep from her eyes. "Hey, don't treat my room like some unexplored territory."

Yotsuba rolled her eyes, hands on hips. "Seriously, you trashed your room again?" She went straight to the wardrobe, picking up a pile of clothes like she'd done this a thousand times.

Ichika just laughed, flopping back down, blanket pulled tight. "Still sleepy. Can't you let a girl rest?"

Draconis nudged the bed frame with his foot. "Get up. I'm here to tutor you all, not to admire the mess."

Ichika peeked out from under the covers, teasing. "You finally visit a girl's room and that's all you've got to say? How boring."

"I'd compliment you, but honestly, there's nothing praiseworthy here." Draconis turned away, voice calm. "Cover up properly. You're showing more than you should."

He hadn't expected Ichika to be a fellow fan of sleeping naked. The blanket had slipped, leaving her bare back exposed—nothing but skin and a hint of embarrassment.

She froze, then scrambled to wrap herself up. "Ahaha… Sorry, guess I forgot to put anything on. It's a little embarrassing."

Her cheeks flushed pink, but Draconis was already distracted by her vanity table—a battlefield of cosmetics, most uncapped and scattered in a rainbow mess. Did high school girls really need this much makeup?

He thought of Mai's room, just as chaotic, just as full of mystery bottles and palettes. Maybe that was why Mai always looked so mature.

Compared to her four sisters, Ichika was definitely the most grown-up—her style, her attitude, even the way she handled chaos.

"Yotsuba, toss me something to wear?" Ichika called.

Yotsuba nodded, rifling through the pile and pulling out a set of black, lacy lingerie. She blinked, swallowing hard. "Wow… You really wear stuff like this?"

"Hey, quit flashing my underwear around!" Ichika laughed, rolling her eyes as she caught Draconis's utterly unbothered expression.

"Just get dressed. I won't stick around for the show." Draconis left, closing the door behind him.

Outside, Nino, Miku, and Itsuki had already changed, each sporting their trademark accessories—ribbons, headphones, hairpins. Finally, he could tell them apart.

By the time Ichika wandered downstairs, yawning, Draconis and the rest were already at the dining table.

"I grabbed breakfast. Eat while it's hot," he said, glancing at Ichika. She'd put effort into her look—a gray V-neck tee hugging her curves, white skinny jeans showing off her figure. Clearly, she didn't roll out of bed without a plan.

"Oh? So thoughtful?" Ichika arched an eyebrow, surprised. The other sisters were already eating, chatting about everything except the textbooks in front of Draconis. Not a single glance at the study materials.

No wonder their grades were a disaster.

Draconis waited until breakfast was done, then tapped the table. "Alright, time for tutoring."

Nino groaned. "Can't you invent a magic spell or something? Studying's so boring…"

"That's a separate commission." Draconis replied, deadpan. "If a human wants me to create a spell, the price is about fifty years of lifespan."

"Forget that!" Nino recoiled instantly.

Draconis smirked. Easy win.

Ichika yawned, stretching. "Honestly, what's the point of studying? Once you're out of school, it's useless."

Her attitude was classic underachiever—exactly what he'd expected.

Nino nodded in agreement. Miku stayed quiet, neutral. Yotsuba and Itsuki dutifully pulled out their textbooks—the only two who actually listened.

Draconis sat across from the five sisters, calm and collected. "It's not that studying is useless. It's just the little bit you've learned that's useless."

Silence. Five pairs of eyes stared at him, speechless.

Even if they didn't want to admit it, they knew he had a point.

Nino huffed. "Why do you always sound like some old guy with life advice?"

She was the rebel, no question.

Draconis just shrugged, voice gentle. "You can ignore me if you want, but this was Yotsuba's wish. Her desire was sincere enough to summon a devil like me. So for her sake, you should at least give it your best."

The sisters exchanged glances. Yotsuba's ears turned pink as she fidgeted, caught off guard by the attention.

"Ahaha… You guys, don't stare at me like that…" she mumbled, embarrassed.

Ichika and the others finally relented, pulling out their textbooks and settling in.

Draconis opened his materials and began his first tutoring session—five sisters, one devil, and a table full of possibilities.
