Chapter 124 - Resolving the Beginning

"Ahhhhhhh!!!"

The ropes tying Jayden broke, and in the next moment, he tried to push Jonathan's hand away from his forehead, but failed. Seeing Jayden's nails digging into his skin, Jonathan showed no expression of pain; there was only a calm look, and the moment the boy's movements stopped, he pulled his hand away from his forehead.

"There. Now he'll sleep." Jonathan took out a white handkerchief to clean the blood from the wound where Jayden had buried his nails.

Wednesday let out a sigh of relief upon seeing Jonathan was fine; she had never felt so many emotions in one place as she did now.

"Call the cleanup team; we need to find every detail we may have overlooked in this place and also erase the ritual in the shed." Jonathan said this while looking at Akira, who immediately left the room to make the call.

It was then that Anna, who was crying beside her son, lifted her gaze and asked, "So… my sister isn't here?"

"She's been erased from the human world; she must have ascended." Jonathan said this without mentioning any unnecessary details that wouldn't be understood anyway. He had dealt with countless cases like this, so he only needed to give clear answers they could comprehend.

But something that surprised Jonathan was that the darkness still hadn't been erased from this town, as if something were missing somehow. So, looking around, he asked, "Do you know where your sister gathered during her pregnancy before she died?"

"She walked a lot in the forest… is something wrong?" Anna, who believed everything was over, felt alarmed by that question.

Jonathan shook his head and said, "I want to eliminate everyone who does these kinds of rituals; I think for some reason we haven't eliminated all of them."

But these were obviously just Jonathan's speculations; he couldn't go around the world choosing enemies of the darkness just because he believed so, and he dropped the topic.

Even so, Felix, who had returned with his son, who had been knocked unconscious earlier, stood up and murmured, "Honey, how's Jayden?"

"Honey, how are you feeling?"

"Fine, a little confused, but fine." The man nodded, remembering how he had suddenly lost consciousness.

Jonathan saw that this family was fine, so he walked down the hallway. Felix, the man of the family, went out to have a more private conversation.

"What will happen now?"

Jonathan turned as he lit a cigarette and said, "You'll be evaluated; your family will be quarantined, during which you'll be isolated most of the time to make sure you don't have any problems."

"For God's sake, is it that serious?" Felix couldn't believe his family was such a big problem and let out an ironic laugh, which clearly wasn't a cheerful one.

Jonathan finished lighting his cigarette and said, "Sometimes people reveal contagious illnesses that harm others, psychological symptoms, or persistent damages that we don't notice until it's too late."

"What will happen to the house?"

"It will be cleaned; in the worst case, we'll incinerate it and build a new one for them."

Just as Jonathan was about to say more, Wednesday returned with the cleanup team, who were wearing masks and suits to protect them from any contagious infection.

"Now you'll follow those people; they'll take you to a center where you'll recover, and after that, if everything is fine, you'll be released." Jonathan looked at Felix to ensure they had no problem with this.

When everything was under control, the cleanup team began placing yellow sheets on the walls, and others climbed up to the shed.

While they worked, Jonathan walked toward the exit of the house. "What do you think?"

"It was really intense; I never thought a job like this would be so complicated." Wednesday smiled as she lit a cigarette to calm her nerves.

At that moment, Jonathan received a call, to which he asked, "What did you say?"

"We have a high-ranking man from the cult Monica was involved with who killed several field agents; we can surely get information about the cult, but we need your authorization."

"I'm on my way." Jonathan signaled Akira to leave. "Let's go; the people here will handle the remaining problems."

Akira got into the truck and asked, "What are we going to do?"

"Extract information."
