Chapter 65 - Whip and Darkness

Boom!

Argh!

Jonathan was not affected by the demon's roar; his attention was entirely focused on controlling his energy with his right hand, which at that moment held his whip.

Driven by the need to make his attacks impossible to heal, the energy of light emitted from his body caused particles of light to appear around him.

Jonathan's speed was supernatural. No one could believe they were witnessing this kind of supernatural confrontation and still remained unharmed, but they knew that if he didn't have the ability to eliminate the entity, they would all die—so they prepared themselves.

As Jonathan advanced, the furious Slenderman moved as well, and his speed was nothing out of this world without his teleportation. Compared to Jonathan, Slenderman seemed to have no more speed than an ordinary human.

At that moment, an astonishing scene unfolded. As if the demon sensed something was wrong with Jonathan's attack, he stopped, scanned his surroundings, and when he saw a fallen tree trunk to the side, with a wave of his hand, that trunk shot straight at Jonathan.

Boom!

Jonathan, who was only focused on cutting Slenderman's body, was hit on the side, sent flying, and rolled several times before stopping.

"Hold the dark entity, fire!"

The soldiers, upon seeing that, felt their blood run cold. All of them, who had been in a safe perimeter, began firing at the Slenderman in front of them.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"ARRRGHHH!!!"

Doing the same as he had seconds before, Slenderman waved his hand, and a trunk, as if controlled by telekinesis, crashed into some of the soldiers, forcing them to stop shooting.

"Argh!" Slenderman roared, but at that moment, by chance, he looked toward where Jonathan had fallen—only to see he was no longer there.

Where was he?

At that moment, shrouded in a cloak of darkness, Jonathan appeared behind Slenderman like a ghost, wielding his sacramental sword. He attacked vertically, wanting to slice his enemy in half, but Slenderman used his telekinesis to deflect the powerful strike, losing his left arm in the process.

"Hmph…" Jonathan grunted, and changing his stance, he drove his right leg into Slenderman's stomach.

Boom!

The powerful strike sent Slenderman flying like a meteor, crashing into several trunks. But Jonathan, who wasn't finished, waved his hand, and two dark blades shot toward the spot where Slenderman had fallen.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The abnormal explosions were also due to the soldiers using grenades to buy time for the others to reorganize.

Only then did Jonathan have a moment to wipe the blood from his forehead. Even though his healing was high-level, he felt several of his ribs broken and his whole body screaming in pain.

"You are fascinating. I wonder how you've gained all that power while being just a mere human…" Slenderman's voice echoed, and as if he had taken no damage other than his severed left arm, he emerged slowly, walking toward him.

Just a few meters away, Jonathan wore a serious expression. He didn't want to fall into a conversation with a monster, so he raised his sword—but this time, traces of both darkness and light shone across his body.

Without a word, Jonathan once again rushed toward Slenderman, and at that moment, the surroundings seemed to slow down.

As if he didn't feel the force of Jonathan's attack, Slenderman also unleashed his full power without restraint. Darkness poured out of his body, trying to toy with Jonathan's mind, but he discovered that Jonathan had extremely strong defenses.

"Return to the place you came from!"

The soldiers nearby, recovering from the shock, couldn't understand how Jonathan had reappeared on the battlefield so quickly, but they didn't care. Everyone believed that no one except a Belmont could eliminate the demon before them.

Roaaarrrr!!!

Drawing once again from the dark energy within him, Slenderman didn't hold back and used great reserves of his power to make his attacks effective.

The black shadow before Jonathan seemed to change from time to time, but he paid it no mind.

Through a prayer, Jonathan cut even the air itself with his sword.

From the surroundings came worried glances, fearing they would not succeed tonight. Many had already died, and more were expected to fall if they couldn't contain the dark entity here.

The speed of the two figures clashing was astonishingly fast; very few could see what was happening, as if dim light and intense darkness were colliding before their eyes.

Boom!

At that moment, a loud sound shook even the trees. Jonathan's steadfast light shattered Slenderman's darkness.

Those who were still conscious saw only a flash of light before the two strikes collided.

Within that light, Jonathan unleashed powerful attacks against Slenderman with everything he had, though the demon was far stronger than he had imagined.

In that instant, Jonathan found himself surrounded by darkness, yet he could still see his target, so he struck forward.

The distance was still too great, and Slenderman seemed to dodge his attack well, so Jonathan only cut across his chest. However, he didn't escape unscathed, as out of nowhere a trunk shot toward his head, aiming to slash his face.

Crack!

Dodging the strike, Jonathan still received a fierce cut that nearly cost him his left eye. Even so, his vision was impaired; when he tried to keep his eye open, blood had entered, tinting half his sight red.

But under his control, the sword in his hand shifted position, aiming to pierce the demon's heart and finish him once and for all.

Boom!

But using his telekinesis, Slenderman stopped Jonathan's sword from advancing and shoved his attacker back, saving himself at the last second.

Slenderman had managed to evade several times, but this time Jonathan would not give him the chance. As he retreated, he drew his pistol and fired repeatedly, aiming for Slenderman's head as the demon withdrew and hid in the darkness.

Jonathan, emerging from the shadows, shouted: "Everyone, fire!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

All the soldiers, who had been on alert, immediately opened fire on the dark curtain. The flashes of their shots lit up the surroundings.

Jonathan was calm because his high level of healing protected him from fatal wounds.

But that calm vanished when he heard a voice: "Haley, where are you?"
