There is a theory that when one is on the brink of death, they think about more important things than what they normally would.
Everyone, when knocking on death's door, wonders if it was all worth it.
But Jonathan, who legally immersed himself in this work even when he was close to death, would never ask himself if it was worth it.
By having the strength to fight beings that were once considered fiction, Jonathan felt that it was all worth it.
This was more than just a job; what he did was because he hated dark entities and wanted to eliminate any trace of evil that could affect him or people who didn't deserve it.
Some die for money and usually regret it in the end, but those who die for a noble cause feel an unprecedented will that pushes them onto a path illuminated with meaning and reason.
Crack!
In this situation, the feeling was so intense that Jonathan didn't think about surviving, but about eliminating the threat. After all, this was the reason he was fighting.
Thinking about this, Jonathan, who was absorbed in the battle, adjusted his stance, and after taking a hit with force, he cut off Slenderman's hand and threw a grenade—this time at a shorter distance.
Slenderman's healing was powerful, but at this moment what mattered was slowing down that regeneration.
It became a battle of endurance, to see who could heal faster.
Boom!
With powerful energy running through Jonathan's body, the grenade that exploded at close range didn't affect him much.
But just as he expected, Slenderman didn't move and simply stared at Jonathan's figure, who now had noticeable wounds on his face.
"A truly demonic thing…" A hint of surprise flashed in Jonathan's eyes when he saw the damage wasn't much.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Creating some distance and taking advantage of the confusion, Jonathan fired three more shots that hit Slenderman's chest, where he assumed the blind spot was.
But the fire at the moment of the explosion was like a volcanic eruption, dragging a massive wave of air that spread rapidly in all directions, destroying everything in its path.
The fire instantly filled Jonathan's vision, and he was a little shocked. "No, I must move."
Feeling the shockwave carrying gravel, Jonathan covered the most vulnerable parts of his body and stopped his attack for just a few seconds.
Even though he worried Slenderman might strike before he had time to react, he needed to protect himself, or he would be gravely injured if his eyes were damaged.
Crack!
But as expected, the damage wasn't great simply because the impact wasn't directed at him. When the entire area shattered and the surroundings filled with smoke and dust, Slenderman's furious roar was heard.
Suddenly, a powerful energy burst out, and the smoke and dust in the sky instantly dispersed, revealing Slenderman's figure, who had teleported once again.
The wounds on his body burned with flames, his inhuman form now completely visible before Jonathan, who, without hesitation, fired again.
"Compared to other supernatural beings, you're a joke." Jonathan had the courage to say these words because to him, they were true.
As he fired again, he prepared another grenade, and a trace of divine energy was placed on it before throwing.
If physical damage worked, though only slightly, then combining it with the strength of his supernatural power would surely deal more damage.
Following the sound, Slenderman instantly appeared before Jonathan.
"So fast?" Before Jonathan could throw the grenade, his pupils shrank as he saw the demon's massive figure appear right in front of him.
Now holding only his whip in his left hand, he attacked without hesitation with all his strength, hoping to cut off another of the demon's limbs.
"I can't get close…" Jonathan dodged some branches that sprouted from the monster's body, while large rocks controlled by his telekinesis moved toward Slenderman.
He knew physical damage wouldn't work, but if he could slow him down even for a second, it would be worth it.
And even if he failed in this mission, Slenderman would be sealed within this forest.
