Bennett looked at the tall trees, grassy hills, and cloud-filled sunny sky ahead of him with a puzzled gaze. His head of messy hair and casual clothes stood out among the vibrant greenery. To understand what happened we would need to look back five minutes. One moment Bennett was moments away from finishing Terraria by defeating Moon Lord on Master Mode. But right before defeating the Moon Lord, he blinked and then was on a hill. A notification in Bennett's mind attracted his attention.
[Ding! Welcome to the world of Terraria! Travelers of another world, time is limited! The novice protection period only lasts 10 days before the more dangerous monsters emerge!]
[Ding! Distributing the benefits given by the World's Will to otherworldly travelers! System functions online! Personal status functions online! Achievement function online! Chat function online! Trading function online! Crafting function online! Guide being sent! Initial supplies being distributed! Set up, complete! Best of Luck Travelers!]
A mental reminder went off in Bennett's mind and he noticed he could access a new pocket dimension. Inside were some breads, drinking water, and a set of very familiar copper tools. A short sword, an axe, and a pickaxe. Weren't these the same tools you initially received when playing Terraria?
If that was true, doesn't that mean all the bosses also existed in this world? A horrifying shiver went up Bennett's spine. Fear plunged Bennett's cognition, his mind felt like it went through a blender the moment this realization occurred. All the bosses were real, all those horrific events in the game were all going to descend upon this world. Bennett's cognition had touched upon a hidden part of this world unknown to many. Just the mere knowledge of that fact had begun to pollute Bennett's mind. Unaware of the outside world Bennett didn't notice a series of rapidly occurring notifications.
[Ding! -1 Sanity!]
[Ding! -1 Sanity!]
[Ding! -1 Sanity!]
Suddenly someone tapped Bennett's shoulder. Without warning, a horrendous aura flooded Bennett's sense. The stench of boiling blood, wriggling flesh, blood vessels, jagged teeth that crunch and chew on all horrors. In an instant, Bennett's cognition returned to normal or as normal as can be after what he just experienced.
[Ding! Unlocked Achievement – A Glimpse of the True Horrors (Legendary)]
[Description: Your cognition has perceived a sliver of the True Horrors beneath Terraria's surface, distorted under pressure, and yet managed to not descend into complete madness or die. A feat that few can achieve.]
[You have awakened the Talent – Distorted Cognition: +100% to All Mental related Attributes! +100% Resistance to Mental Pollution!]
Sweat dripped down his head onto the grass. His clothes were soaked with sweat as Bennett's breathed deep breaths. Bennett quickly focused his attention elsewhere, luckily there was someone to focus his attention toward. Turning around Bennett saw a man with brown hair, wearing a gray shirt and jeans. It looked like the Guide, and the system confirmed it.
[Tom – The Guide]
[Description: A Guide provided by the World Will to help Travelers quickly adapt to the new world]
"Hello there, my name is Tom. I'm here to help you get adapted to this world. Ask me anything you want to know." Tom smiled joyfully.
None of the previous pressure Bennett felt before was seen from this man. But Bennett knew better. After all, the methods to summon the Wall of Flesh were both related to the Guide. No one could even imagine that a monstrosity of flesh and blood being related to this helpful gentleman. However, in Bennett's mind that previous feeling couldn't have come from anything else other than Wall of Flesh. But if the Guide wanted to pretend to be ignorant, Bennett felt it was in his best interests not to expose him.
"Nice to meet you, Tom. I'm Bennett." Bennett extended his hand for a shake. To which Tom shook happily. Indeed, Tom felt like a completely normal human being made of flesh and blood. Bennett needed to check the System functions, so he told Tom to give him a minute to situate himself.
As Bennett turned his attention to the System functions, he noticed the Chat feature. Three channels beckoned: Global, Regional, and Local. The Global Channel limited posts to one per day, while the Regional allowed five. The Local Channel was unrestricted but limited to 10,000 participants.
[I'm calling the cops! This is kidnapping!]
[+1 Brother upstairs]
[Hahaha! I have travelled through time! I am definitely the protagonist, watch out world! You aren't ready for me!]
[Not another person with middle-school syndrome *facepalm*]
[Someone, send help! A strange man is approaching me! He has brown hair and gray shirt! Help!]
[Huh? I see that person too. Are we in the same local area?]
[Um, fellow netizen upstairs. I also see that exact the same person. Why can't I see you guys. I'm in a plains with a clear view.]
[Weird, I'm on a mountain. I also see the same guy.]
[Fuck! I also see him!]
[This is the Global Channel, how the hell are so many people seeing the same guy?!]
[Shit! It's got to be a ghost! Run while you still can!]

Bennett took a weird glance at Tom. As expected of the Guide, he is everywhere. Seeing that he couldn't get anything of value from the Channels, Bennett looked at the other functions of the system.
In the Achievement function, there were a few Common Achievement such as [Entering a New World] and [Meeting the Guide] that Bennett wasn't notified of. Bennett guessed that was because they didn't provide any bonus stat benefits. Only Achievements that provided stat bonuses or different effects would notify him.
The Trading function had nothing in the store as everyone had just traversed to this world. Bennett determined, the current Trading function was based on bartering. But it was very likely to use coins in the future. Therefore, setting up an automatic money farm in the future would be beneficial. It seems like those who have previously played Terraria would have a great advantage over those that haven't played.
The Crafting function didn't show anything because he had no crafting materials. Further testing how crafting would work is crucial as Bennett didn't believe it would be as easy in the games. After all, the Guide standing before him wasn't as simple as in the game.
Finally, the Personal status function.
