Outside the carriage, the situation was chaotic. The several thousand Royal Knights of the Heaven Dou Empire were not just a random group of soldiers. They were well-trained and brave. Even though the sudden sound of rushing wind made their hearts race with fear, they did not lose their cool.
The leader of these Knights was a powerful expert at the Spirit Saint level. He quickly pulled his sword from his waist. His voice was loud and rough as he shouted across the field to his men. He told them not to panic and ordered them to form a circular defensive formation. He wanted them to protect the carriage and get ready to fight the enemy.
As soon as he gave the order, the Royal Knights moved with great skill. They wore bright silver armor that caught the light. They quickly built a wall of shields on the outside. Behind the shields stood the spearmen, and the Spirit Masters stayed in the middle. This created a very tight circle around the carriage. Soon, a soft light of spirit power began to glow over the shields. It looked like a solid wall that nothing could break.
However, the enemies they were facing were far too powerful. Figures dressed in black began to jump out from the thick forest. They moved like Gui Mei, appearing almost like ghosts. There were only about a hundred of them, but each one was a high-level Spirit Master.
The weakest person among them was at least a Spirit Emperor because they had six spirit rings circling their feet. Many others were even stronger, showing seven spirit rings. There were even about ten experts who had eight spirit rings, making them Spirit Douluo. A force like this was strong enough to destroy a whole small kingdom by itself.
When the two sides finally hit each other, the defense of the Royal Knights did not last long. The black-clad figures tore through the silver-armored soldiers as if they were made of thin paper. One tall and thin man in black moved his body like he had no bones. He rushed right into the middle of the formation.
Suddenly, his arms changed into two huge, glowing blades that looked like the arms of a praying mantis. Eight spirit ringsâtwo yellow, three purple, and three blackâshone brightly under his feet. He used his Fifth Spirit Ability, Thousand Blade Slash.
His arms moved so fast that they looked like a blur. He slashed at the shields with the force of a storm. The heavy metal shields of the Royal Knights were built to stop arrows and bolts, but they were sliced apart like soft tofu. The soldiers standing behind the shields did not stand a chance. They were cut into pieces instantly. Blood and parts of bodies flew everywhere. It was a very scary and bloody sight to see.
On another side of the battlefield, a different man in black let out a loud roar. He was built like a small mountain. As he yelled, his body grew even larger and his skin started to look like hot, red rock. He had seven spirit ringsâtwo yellow, two purple, and three black. He used his Third Spirit Ability, War Stomp. He lifted his massive leg and slammed it down onto the hard ground.
There was a massive boom. A wave of energy and hot magma shot out in every direction. The force was so strong that it sent thirty Knights and their horses flying into the air. Their bones snapped before they even hit the ground. When they landed, the magma covered them and turned them into charcoal. With just one move, the defensive line was full of holes. The road was covered in broken bodies and dead horses. The air was filled with the screams of men and the cries of horses. The Royal Knights were losing too many people, and they were starting to lose hope.
Inside the carriage, the people could see everything through the small windows. They watched as the Knights fell like grass being cut in a field. The sounds of the battle were very loud. Sword Douluo Chen Xin growled low in his throat. His eyes were sharp and full of anger. As a Level 96 Titled Douluo, he hated sitting still while his allies were being killed. He started to stand up, wanting to go out and kill the enemies himself.
But before he could move, Ning Fengzhi reached out and grabbed his arm. Ning Fengzhi told him to stop and stay calm. He reminded the old sword master that their main job was to keep the Crown Prince safe.
He said the situation outside was confusing and they didn't know how many enemies were really out there. If Chen Xin left the carriage, the defense would be weak. If a stronger enemy attacked while he was gone, something bad might happen to the Crown Prince.
Dugu Bo was sitting there with a grumpy look on his face. He stood up and cut Ning Fengzhi off with a mean smile. He told them to stop arguing. He said that when it comes to fighting large groups of weaker enemies, he was the best person for the job.
He told Chen Xin to stay and guard the carriage because that would be the safest plan. Dugu Bo looked out at the bloody fight, and his green eyes showed that he was ready to kill. He muttered that the people from Spirit Hall were like mad dogs who never gave anyone a break.
Without waiting for another word, Dugu Bo turned into a flash of green light. He jumped out of the carriage and headed straight for the fight. Chen Xin called out for him to be careful, but he didn't try to stop him.
He knew that Dugu Bo's poison was perfect for fighting a lot of people at once. Ning Fengzhi watched him go with a worried look. He held his Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, ready to use his spirit power to help if things got worse.
Inside the carriage, Crown Prince Xue Qinghe sat very still. Even though he looked calm, he was squeezing his sleeve very hard. He thought to himself that Bibi Dong was a crazy woman for forcing him into this. He knew these black-clad men were just the start of a much bigger trap.
Dugu Bo looked at the waves of enemies coming from all sides. He saw the Royal Knights being slaughtered and shook his head. He wasn't scared; he was just ready to end it. A bright green light exploded from his body.
He let out the full power of a Titled Douluo. Nine spirit ringsâtwo yellow, two purple, and five blackâappeared around him. He shouted the name of his move: Jade Phosphor Dragon, Poison Devours Heaven and Earth.
A thick, dark green mist poured out of his body. It looked like a flood of poison spreading in every direction. This mist was very dangerous. It could melt skin and bone, and it made people's bodies stop working. It moved across the ground very fast. The black-clad enemies, who had been winning the fight, were caught by surprise. As soon as the green mist touched them, they started screaming in pain.
The Spirit Emperors in black were the first to die. The mist acted like strong acid on their bodies. Their spirit power protection was useless. Their skin and muscles melted away until they were just piles of liquid. Even the stronger Spirit Saints and Spirit Douluo had a hard time.
They tried to use all their power to push the poison away, but they could feel their strength fading. Their skin burned and their bodies began to break down. No matter how much they had trained, they couldn't stop the strongest poison in the world. In just a few seconds, twenty enemies were dead, including two Spirit Douluo who had been too close.
The rest of the enemies were terrified. They yelled for everyone to run away. They recognized the poison of the Poison Douluo. They stopped attacking and tried to run as fast as they could to get away from the green clouds. The huge attack they had planned completely fell apart.
However, Dugu Bo's poison had a big problem. It did not know who was a friend and who was an enemy. As the mist killed the men in black, it also reached the Royal Knights who were still alive or lying wounded on the ground.
The poor soldiers began to scream for help as the poison touched them. Their armor and skin melted just like the enemies. The Royal Knights had already lost so many men, and now even more were dying because of the poison meant to save them.
The road became a giant zone of death. The green mist swirled around, and the ground was covered in melted remains. You couldn't tell who had been a hero and who had been a villain. Dugu Bo stood in the middle of it all. He looked sad as he sighed. He had stopped the enemy, but he knew he had killed many of his own side too. It was a victory that cost a very high price.
Just as the battlefield went quiet for a moment, a high and sharp voice cut through the air. It sounded cold and mean, like a snake whispering in someone's ear. The voice called out to Dugu Bo. It said that he must really want to fight against Spirit Hall. The voice told him that since he wanted to protect the kids so much, he would die right there along with his hated poison.
