Emily stared at me with a confused expression and then back at the devil who stood before us. It irked me to my bones the way Joanne smiled.
I will never let any member of my family or anyone I know get caught up in their games. That would be over my dead body.
"What is the matter Nica, don't tell me you want to be the only one enjoying the goodies we offer?" Joanne then turned to Emily.
"This marriage will be good for your career Emily, you will no longer have to struggle for anything. You think whatever your sister gives you is good, then just be Ruben's wife..." She was offering her son like some sacrificial lamb.
"Stop it. Stop trying to convince my sister! Leave my family alone!" I yelled at her trying to speak up.
"You already said Emily is way older than Ruben. She'll find someone better, NOT YOUR SON." I yelled. I couldn't control my rage anymore. I know my baby sister can be greedy, but she isn't stupid. She'll never fall for this tramp's games.
My sister will not be moved by money and mere riches, she's CONTENDED with whatever I give her. I smiled with confident.
"Why now Nica. You sound so jealous. It seems you do not want anything good for your sister." Joanne accused.
"You know that's not what I meant."
"Then what do you mean Nica? Why are you rejecting the offer?" Emily turned to me, shocking me in an instant.
"I... Th... Tha..." I stuttered.
I couldn't tell her these people are sick in the brain. I couldn't tell her she was entering into a trap.
I couldn't tell her the deep shit I have gotten into.
My lips quivered, tears blurring my vision as I tried to speak. I felt helpless and useless that I couldn't save my baby sister.
"This was not the agreement. You said you wouldn't touch any member of my family." I yelled at Joanne and Emily's face contoured as confusion filled her beautiful face.
"I said that if you did your side of the bargain. I need grandchildren to keep our family bloodline Nica and it seems you're not giving me that." Joanne said.
"Emily listen to me." I turned to my sister, holding her hands desperately.
"You know I love you so much and would do anything for you. Don't accept whatever offer she's giving. Ruben is younger like she said, remember our principles? We cannot date any man younger." I said anything. Anything to make her listen to me.
She couldn't fall into the same trap I have fallen into. But Emily only frowned further.
"Age is just a number Nica. Did you forget our motto too. You said we'd do anything for money. Like aunty already said, you're just Jealous I've been asked to marry Ruben." Emily started.
"Why are you jealous of me Nica. You should be happy we'll finally get to be together. Our children will be related too." I shook my head at her words.
This cannot be happening. My sister cannot be tied down like me too. I know Emily is stubborn, but I had expected her to be reasonable too.
Emily turned to Joanne, "Mrs Raven, I'll think about it and give my answer by tomorrow. But... Are you sure Ruben would love me too?"
"WHAT THE HELL?
SHE WAS AGREEING TOO?
I felt like I was going crazy. What was she not listening to me?
"Emily!" I tried calling but she pulled her hands off mine.
"We're no longer sisters Nica. I can see you don't love me and you're so jealous of me. Just pray mum doesn't find out, you'll be dead meat if she does." She threw the bags and shoes back at me.
"Say a few greetings to your mother when you get home dear Emily." Joanne said to Emily who picked her purse from the couch.
"I will ma'am." At that, Emily started walking away.
"Emily wait no!" I ran after her, but she didn't stop. Before I could reach her, a few servants blocked my path.
"This is all your fault Nica. If you had agreed to give me grandchildren, your dear sister wouldn't be involved in this." She said. Then slowly, I turned to look at her, anger burning inside me.
"Keep this up, and I'll give your body to the servants to feast on. Don't think you're better than anyone in here. There are rules you need to follow whether you decide to sleep with your son or not you must bare us children."
"I wouldn't mind helping you fuck your son, afterall, he's my blood too." I've never been more disgusted in my life.
"You will not touch my kid!" I yelled but she only smiled.
I was furious, I needed air. I wanted a way out of this. This couldn't be my end. My last option couldn't be death. There's must be a way out of this. There must be something I can do to save my family from this mess.
My sister couldn't be a part of this mess. This was not a time to think of death. Even if I died, the Ravens will come after Emily and they would hunt her down.
Still in my thoughts, Christopher walked in again.
"A letter for the lady of the house." He announced passing a letter to me but before I could get it, Joanne snatched it.
"Mistakes like this kills people Christopher. This is my son's house, I am the lady of the house." She said with a sweet smile and my butler bowed gently.
"My apologies madam Joanne." He said.
"These are invitations from the Gravemont family. They have invited master Raven to their welcoming party." I saw the joy in Joanne's eyes as she stared at the sealed envelope.
"Impossible!" She beacons moving around.
"We cannot be invited. How did Paul get such connection?" She hissed and started walking away. I had no idea what was happening and why she was so excited about a mere invitation. It's not like it's from the royal palace.
"The Gravemont." I murmured under my breath wondering who that was. Maybe they could help me out...
