After a long time I came back to my old home. I don't remember much about my hometown but one thing I remember is that it's really beautiful and to be honest it is.
Mom and Dad had to leave town because of their work. Now the only one who was left was my grandmother who I have seen sometimes on the phone. She also came to visit sometimes in the city to meet me. But it had been a long time since I last saw here when I was ten or so. And according to my calculations it has been exactly eight years ago since our last meeting. She got old but from what my parents told me she still is energetic, completely opposite from my grandfather who now just sits around and watches television. But he isn't in any bad shape or so. He just became lazy after my parents got married. My mother spoiled him now she thinks he became like that because of her and regrets it now. But I think it was good that she did it. At that age they should just rest.
The bus that I came with was quiet. Not many people were there. I liked the quietness tho. In the city there were sounds of cars and people. It was a bit fraustrating at first. But I got used to it. The silence here isn't bad tho. It feels calm.
I sat on the front seat from the last so I could see the people clearly who were with me. A man with glasses who was wearing a suit sat on the second row on the right side. He also had a suitcase. Even without seeing his face I could say he was 45-50. Then on the fourth left row there was an old woman with a bag full of vegatables. I think she got it from the next town. They looked fresh. It made me feel a bit hungry. It was almost twelve and I didn't had breakfast so I was basically travelling without eating anything. She wore a white dress who had flowers patterns that looked like sunflower. It was cute and fitting for summer.
Luckily I managed to avoid cram school this summer. All of my friends went on a trip. I got left out because they really forgot so I decided to come back to my hometown to spend my holiday. I also really wanted to come visit my hometown once in a while.
After sometime the bus stopped at a certain point. There a girl my age got inside the bus. She had beautiful black eyes and black hair tied as a ponytail. All of the elderly that were in the bus greeted her with a smile. I guess she's also from my hometown as me. She also looked friendly towards everyone. She might be one of the popular ones. She was also really beautiful. She wore a plain yellow one piece that made her beauty glow even more. She looked like someone you see once in a lifetime and never see again. But it was not my concern. I opened my phone and wore my headphones and started playing music. I felt a bit sleepy. So after listening for sometime I fell asleep.
....
Suddenly the bus stopped and I woke up. I finally reached at my destination. I got out and sat at the bus stand that was there. Before coming here I talked with Grandma before coming here. She gave me the location so I knew where to stay. I messaged her and in a bit she replied it would her 10 mins or so. Now the waiting starts.
"Are you new here?" I heard a voice from the right and saw the same girl that I was with in the bus. "Yeah," I replied. "I mean..." I sttutered a bit. "I used to stay here when I was little. But I left when I was little with my Mom and Dad. And sure it has been a while since I came here."
"Sorry to ask you this suddenly." the girl apologized.
"Oh it's okay. Anyone would've asked."
"Our hometown's a bit small. So we basically know each other here. Also there aren't many tourists around here. So it's been some time for me I saw a new face around here."
"Yeah. By the way my name is Takashi. Hanada Takeshi. My grandma and grandpa stays here."
"Oh so you're Scout. Ms. Cromwell has been talking about you for sometime. That you'll come. I grew tired of hearing it. So it's glad to see you finally face to face."
"Sorry for her inconvenience."
"Oh its nothing to worry about. Moreover she's really fun to talk to. Also I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Shizuka. I live opposite of your home. So we might see each other more often than not."
"Glad to hear that. Um. By the way. Who are you waiting here for?"
"My dad. He's a bit busy so he might be late. I would've loved to introduce him to you. You might not remember but we used to play a lot when we were little."
"Really?"
"Yeah. I changed a lot from back then. So I thought you might remember me by my name. But you really forgot about me."
"I can't seem to remember names that much."
Then an awkward silence arose.
"Sorry for the awkwardness." I said. "I really can't continue a conversation properly."
"I know. I know. You were like that from when you were little. Always been the silent type. But I am really happy to finally see you again."
She then gave a smile. I became a bit flustered. It's been some time a girl smiled towards me like that. Moreover a beautiful one. I got a bit embarrassed about it.
"Yeah. Yeah. Sure."
I tried to avoid eye-to-eye contact. She started to laugh.
"You don't have to be embarrassed to talk to me. We're adults now. You can't stay like that. Or girls might not even approach you."
That sentence made me triggered a bit.
"Oh yeah? I might not look like it but I am popular among my classmates. If I wanted I can get a girlfriend or two. I can even say I once had one."
She then went silent. I thought I might've said something to trigger her.
"Did you two kiss?" She asked. "Umm.." I didn't know how to respond. "We didn't. It didn't last long."
"So how long did you two date?"
"A month." I replied honestly.
"How can you then say she was your girlfriend if it was for only 3 month."
Suddsnly she bursted out laughing again. This girl really knew how to get on my nerve.
"At least I can say that I had one."
She then argued for a moment. Then suddenly a car parked near us and the front window slid down. It was my grandma.
"You two stop arguing and get inside."
She didn't even look that old with the getup she had. She really tried to mimic our teen's trend to look young. But she can't hide her old face. All she did was too much makeup. I giggled a bit.
"Stop giggling and get inside. We can talk when we reach home."
