Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 Zeref’s Harem

Lilia was one of the girls I rescued from the horrors of human trafficking. She wasn't a target I needed to conquer, but she was an important piece in the true storyline. Lilia was a recurring villain in the game Satan_666.

She had joined Ranoa Academy as part of a dark organization, infiltrating the school as a spy — until the main protagonist eventually changed her heart and brought her to the side of good.

She harbored deep hatred toward my territory because she had once been sold as a slave here and suffered countless assaults. In the game, she tried many times to kill me or my sisters.

I remembered her well because of her special bloodline, which granted her immense talent with darkness and the rare ability of dark healing magic — making her an invaluable support in battle.

Once she awakened her demonic lineage, her appearance would drastically change and her talents would soar. Many suitors would compete for her affection, but after learning of her past, they would quickly distance themselves.

The slavery incident was originally discovered a year later in the game, causing immense damage to my territory's reputation. By intervening early, I prevented the problem and gained four loyal and powerful followers.

Saving Livy and the other girls was also part of a carefully crafted plan for the future.

After all, becoming strong was meaningless if I didn't have powerful and reliable allies.

Well, that's something only I could do — because I possess knowledge of this world that no one else does.

I shifted my gaze to the pretty girl standing beside Lilia. She had orange hair and orange eyes, and like Lilia, she wore a maid's outfit. The way she stood — awkward and shy — made her look adorable.

Her name was Karina, another girl I saved during the slave incident. Karina, too, was a villain — and a dangerous one at that, due to her unpredictable personality.

I then looked at the other two girls. One had golden fox ears and a fluffy tail, her face cute and timid, while the other had black fox ears and tail and carried herself more boldly. They were twins.

The two of them looked almost identical, except that the golden-haired fox girl was shy while the black-haired one was straightforward.

In the game, they were known for despising men and only supporting each other. They, too, were part of that dark organization and had suffered greatly, just like Lilia and Karina.

In the Underground Training Room ~~~

At that moment, Livy was battling a golem. Even though she wielded only a wooden sword, her strikes were sharp enough to scratch the golem's iron-hard body.

Though she hadn't been learning swordsmanship for long, her movements were impressive.

Tina, watching from the side, refused to be outdone. She moved nimbly around her golem opponent, her demi-human wolf heritage granting her exceptional speed. The golem around her was covered in slash marks.

Every target board in the room was riddled with arrows. It was impossible to tell how many arrows Lora had fired — the boards were completely hidden beneath them, and her bowstring was frayed from overuse.

Although Nora hadn't yet mastered the element of chaos, she could already wield fire magic. Using the spell Fire Bolt, she managed to wound the golem.

Sasa too had successfully damaged her golem. Unlike two months ago, when she couldn't even scratch it, she was now clearly accustomed to handling her whip.

The golem's arm bore heavy damage from Mira's attacks. She used her body weight to deliver powerful blows, and she no longer struggled to swing her massive axe.

Mia had learned to use martial arts to dodge the golem's strikes. She used her agility to land powerful punches, successfully scratching its surface.

"You've all improved remarkably."

A voice suddenly echoed through the training room, startling the girls. They turned and saw Zeref seated on a throne of dark magic, his handsome face watching them with impressed eyes.

That gaze alone boosted their confidence.

"Master, I missed you!" Tina shouted, dropping her spear and rushing into Zeref's arms. Her tail swayed happily behind her.

"I missed you too, Tina."

Zeref gently stroked Tina's hair and channeled life magic into her body, healing the wounds she had sustained while battling the golem.

The other girls glared at Tina with jealousy and irritation. Zeref paid no mind to such details — instead, he released his mana into the air, forming shimmering green lights that flowed into the girls' bodies.

Their bodies grew warm. Fatigue and injuries melted away, and their mana reserves surged to four times what they had been before.

Mia shyly raised her hand. "Brother Zeref, may I ask a question?"

"Yes, you can ask me anything."

"Do you have a dream?"

"A dream, huh…"

Zeref closed his eyes and rested his head against his hand.

"My dream is to protect the people I love… and to destroy the darkness that hides within this world."

"Zeref, is that why you're teaching us how to fight — so we can help you destroy that darkness?" Livy asked.

"Actually, that's not my intention," Zeref replied with a gentle smile. "I just want you all to be able to protect yourselves."

When he rescued them, all he wanted was to shield them from the cruelty of this world.

He didn't want their fates to end the same way they had in the game.
