Chapter 120 - Chapter 120 Weird Skeleton!

The key to enslaving a corpse lies in the caster's soul; the stronger the soul, the greater the spirituality endowed to the corpse.

In terms of soul strength, Luke was second to none, but he hadn't expected such a significant change to occur when he was only halfway through the incantation.

A fog rolled in.

Despite the starry night sky, a hazy mist drifted in, lingering over the cemetery without dispersing. From time to time, suppressed growls emanated from the fog, deep and oppressive, as if protesting unwillingness or struggling to break free from something. The sounds echoed in their ears, sending shivers down their spines.

Linda clutched Luke's clothes, nervously saying,

"Maybe we should go back!"

Luke glanced at her and continued to chant the incantation silently.

As the incantation progressed, his eyes unknowingly turned a ghostly green, and an incredibly powerful soul fluctuation rippled outwards. Wherever it reached, the wailing suddenly ceased, as if throats were being choked, only to erupt moments later with even greater intensity.

Roars rose and fell, incredibly ferocious, like enraged beasts.

The fog also grew denser, swirling around their bodies, bringing with it a chilling cold that pierced to the bone.

Dozens of almost ethereal figures appeared in the mist. Their bodies were composed of thick fog, with only their distorted faces revealing human features. Accompanied by ear-splitting shrieks, the figures began to move, some upright, some crawling, surging like a tide of corpses towards Luke and Linda in the center of the field.

Seeing this, Linda's face instantly drained of color, and her calves began to tremble. In an accidental move,

Rip!

Luke's black shirt was torn directly in half.

The girl quickly apologized, "Sorry, I... I didn't mean to."

Luke was utterly speechless. The mighty Supergirl was afraid of ghosts!

What was so scary about ghosts?

Ever since awakening Green Flame, he would see ghosts whenever he passed a cemetery. At first, he was scared, but after a deeper understanding, he realized that so-called ghosts were just special energy clusters without self-awareness and were completely countered by Green Flame. He wasn't so afraid anymore; they should be the ones who were scared.

"Stop, don't test it anymore. If this continues, I'm afraid something bad will happen."

Luke ignored her, tore off the shredded shirt, and tossed it to the ground. He opened his right hand, and green light swirled in his palm, forming subtle, mysterious characters.

"Gather!"

Luke roared, striking the corpse's chest with his palm.

Boom!

An incredibly powerful soul fluctuation rippled outwards, and the fog instantly halted, then surged towards the corpse like a flock of birds returning to their nest. At this moment, the corpse seemed to transform into a black hole, frantically devouring everything around it.

Luke's eyebrows twitched slightly. He released his hand and stepped aside, with Linda quickly following.

The two stood side by side, silently watching the sudden changes.

As the fog surged, the figures hidden within the dense mist were also affected, like fish in seawater. When a vortex forms, no fish, except for whale sharks, can escape the fate of being swallowed.

Clearly, the figures in the dense fog had no whale shark-like existence; no matter how much they shrieked and struggled, they couldn't escape the tearing force emanating from the corpse.

Dozens of figures were swallowed one after another by the corpse. As the figures increased, its body also changed. A green light appeared in its hollow eye sockets, slowly expanding until it became two glass-marble-sized green flames. The dust on its body surface dissipated, revealing gray-white bones, and white mist seeped from within the bones, enveloping the body to form a special protective film.

Crack!

The corpse moved, slowly sitting up from the ground. Its fleshless head began to rotate, bones rubbing against each other.

Creak! Creak! Creak!

Eerie sounds spread through the cemetery. Luke couldn't help but swallow, feeling a little weak in his legs. Linda was even worse, shrinking her head like an ostrich, pushing hard forward, almost making Luke pass out.

"Stop pushing so hard, you're almost suffocating me."

Luke gave her a punch, his gaze returning to the front, staring intently at the skeleton.

Although he was the one who created this thing, he had no idea what the outcome would be. The magic he encountered as a child was all orthodox magic; he had never seen black magic, let alone necromancy, which was considered taboo.

Under the night sky, the green flames in the skeleton's eye sockets were like two will-o'-the-wisps. After scanning the surroundings, they fixed on the two people not far away.

It slowly rose, supporting itself on all fours, and stood up from the ground in a bizarre manner.

Its tattered clothes hung on its body, rustling in the night wind.

It lifted a foot, intending to move forward, but as soon as its right foot was raised, its body lost balance, and with a thud, it fell backward to the ground. Soon, it stood up again, its head down, as if contemplating something.

After more than ten seconds, it lifted its leg again. This time, its right foot landed steadily on the ground.

Luke, witnessing this scene, immediately frowned. This skeleton... it seemed capable of thought?

With just one attempt, the skeleton learned to walk, though its walking style—swinging the left arm while stepping with the left leg, and the right arm with the right leg—was truly peculiar. As it stepped forward, white mist emanated with each step, then was reabsorbed into its body.

The distance of several meters continuously shortened, and finally, the skeleton arrived in front of Luke, its hollow eyes, flickering with green flames, staring straight at him.

It was extremely tall, at least 1.95 meters. Judging from its pelvis, it must have been a tall and strong male in life. Therefore, when it looked down at him, it gave off a strange sense of oppression.

Linda stole a glance, and when she saw those hollow eye sockets burning with ghostly fire looking at her, she shrieked, "Ah!" and quickly pulled her head back, no longer daring to look around.

Luke swallowed, and said in a deep voice,

"Can you speak?"

The skeleton remained silent, clearly lacking this function. And rightly so, if bones could speak, what would muscles be for?

Luke thought for a moment, then pointed downwards with his hand,

"Squat!"

The skeleton tilted its head, the flames in its eye sockets flickering. A few seconds later, it put its hands on its knees and slowly squatted down.

Luke breathed a slight sigh of relief and continued,

"Stand up, turn around!"

"High knees!"

"Jump in place!"

"Push-ups!"

"Shake hands!"

The five commands were given, and the skeleton completed them in sequence, accurately and without error.

Linda whispered, "He seems to understand you."

Luke nodded lightly. From the current situation, that seemed to be the case, but some things still needed verification. Thinking of this, he turned around and said,

"You give him a command."

The girl pointed to herself, surprised, "Me...?"

"Yes, in English. I want to see how much human memory he has!"

"Okay... okay!"

Linda cautiously poked her head out and tentatively said, "Raise your right hand and wave twice."

Ten seconds later, the skeleton still had no reaction, seemingly not understanding English.

Luke spoke, "Do as she says."

The skeleton immediately raised its right hand and waved it twice vigorously.

"It really works!"

Linda was thrilled, "He really understands!"

"But he seems to only listen to your commands."

Luke gave her an exasperated look. Why would something I created listen to anyone else but me?

After confirming that the skeleton posed no danger, the trio returned to the underground base.

Luke intended to conduct comprehensive tests on it to see what abilities this undead creature possessed.
