Chapter 119 - Chapter 119 Black Magic

When he was a child, before Green Flame awakened, Luke had always pondered one question: survival!

As an ordinary person, living a happy life in a DC world where gods and devils are as common as dogs requires extremely good luck.

Luke had always been lucky, so he chose to wait, eating and sleeping every day, making himself plump and fair. He waited for five years, but still didn't receive any benefits for being a transmigrator. Forget a system, he didn't even get the most basic golden finger.

In desperation, he could only abandon his comfortable, lazy life and find another way out.

There are many ways to become stronger, but they can be summarized into a few categories: superpowers, mutations, technology, magic, secret arts inheritance, and becoming a fanatical believer of some evil entity.

The last option was immediately dismissed. Superpowers depend on fate and cannot be forced. As for mutations, that's something the poor consider. As the grandson of the former Hongmen President (Hongmen Association leader), Luke had never tasted the meaning of "poor" from childhood.

Excluding the above, there were still technology, magic, and secret arts inheritance.

All three options require time to accumulate. Especially secret arts inheritance, whether it's Chinese boxing, ancient Indian yoga, or the Mayan battle techniques of the Amazon jungle, all require decades of practice. What's more frustrating is that even if practiced to the highest level, they can't withstand a single punch from a Kryptonian.

This was actually quite an embarrassing situation.

After learning from the old beggar about the destructive power that boxing could achieve at its peak, Luke immediately gave up the idea of practicing martial arts. No matter how much the old beggar tried to persuade him with flowery words, Luke refused to become his disciple, infuriating the old man to the point of almost hitting the wall.

Secret arts inheritance was out, leaving only two options: technology and magic. Magic was very interesting; what man doesn't like magic? The problem was bloodline. Magic in the DC world requires a bloodline to be effective. Someone without a wizard or demon bloodline, even if they cultivated for a hundred years, would never escape the fate of a Muggle.

The Xiao family's ancestors were pure Han Chinese. It wasn't until his great-grandfather's generation, when they failed in a rebellion and were hunted by the Qing court, that they fled to America to make a living. To expect such a family to have a wizard bloodline was simply a joke.

As expected, Luke had no magical talent. After two years of practice, there was no effect, so he had to turn his attention to the Ghost Armor.

He just didn't expect that after so many years, he would actually see a real magic book, and a forbidden one at that, detailing black magic and demon summoning circles.

In the underground base at Coast City Docks.

Looking at the empty hall, Luke said with a helpless expression,

"Stop hiding. I know you're here."

As his voice fell, the Kryptonian girl, wearing an oversized white shirt, walked out of the room. She seemed to have just showered, her hair still wet, and her long legs exposed. The light shone on them, making them glitter. The only pity was that what she held in her hand was not a condom, but a golden-brown crispy roasted lamb leg.

The girl stuck out her tongue, looking a little embarrassed,

"It was too boring at home, so I wanted to go for a walk. I didn't expect to end up in Coast City."

Luke couldn't be bothered with her. How could he not see through her little thoughts? He just didn't want to expose her. He then took off his Ghost Armor, sat on the sofa, opened the parchment book, and flipped through it page by page.

Seeing that Luke didn't speak, Linda's prepared excuses became useless. She could only pout, and while eating the lamb leg, she said,

"What are you looking at?"

"Magic!"

"Like on TV?"

Luke glanced at her and said calmly, "That's stage magic, for performances. This book I'm reading is about real black magic that exists in reality."

Linda immediately became interested. She dropped the lamb chop, jumped onto the sofa barefoot, and looked carefully in the direction of Luke's gaze.

The parchment was covered with mysterious characters she had never seen before. Some were hieroglyphs, and some bore the shadow of ancient Greek script.

"Are these characters also writing?"

"To be precise, they are magic runes, a type of demon script circulating in Hell, later adapted by humans,

and transformed into their current form. They are the foundation for casting spells."

"How do you know?"

"When I was a child, I studied magic for two years. I not only mastered how to read and spell magic runes, but also some methods for engraving magic circles."

Luke turned the book to the tenth page, pointed at the strange pattern on it, and said,

"For example, this one, a common five-star magic circle in black magic, specifically used for demon sacrifices. A processed living person is placed in the magic circle, and through a special incantation, communication with a demon is established. The demon takes the flesh and soul of the sacrificed, and the caster receives a reward from the demon. The more living people sacrificed, the greater the reward received."

"That sounds very evil!"

Luke smiled, "When is black magic not evil?"

"Then can you do it?"

"Do what?"

Linda pointed at the parchment book, "Magic!"

Luke pondered for a few seconds, then slowly said, "Magic is divided into many types: Reversal Magic, Elemental Magic, Mind Magic, Temperature Magic, Force Field Magic, Flight Magic, Space Magic, Time Magic, Perception Magic, Light Magic, Regeneration Magic, Dispel Magic, Enhancement Magic, Conjuration Magic, and so on..."

He paused, then shrugged under the girl's expectant gaze,

"Due to my bloodline, I can't do any of the above."

Linda: "..."

Why didn't you say so earlier? What a waste of time!

"However..." He changed his tone and continued, "I might have a little talent for soul magic and demon summoning circles, which are related to the soul."

"Really? You're not lying again, are you!"

"We'll know if we try."

Luke felt it was necessary to try, after all, Green Flame and the soul were closely linked. If he couldn't learn other magic, he could at least try soul magic. Conveniently, the parchment book recorded several necromancy spells related to soul magic.

"Come with me!"

The two left the dock and found an abandoned cemetery.

It was currently 12 AM, and the surroundings were pitch black. As far as the eye could see, there were only overgrown weeds and broken gravestones.

The cemetery seemed to have been abandoned for a long time.

Linda felt her teeth chattering slightly and said uneasily,

"Do we really have to test it in this place?"

"The best place to test necromancy is a cemetery. If you're scared, close your eyes."

"I'm not scared!"

"Then come and help me push open the coffin."

Linda: "..."

Luke Xiao, you're a jerk!

The girl glared at Luke angrily and kicked the stone coffin, sending the dozens of kilograms (dozens of catties heavy) coffin lid flying like a meteor.

The corpse inside the coffin had long since turned to dry bones, at least a hundred years old.

Luke opened the ancient parchment book, turned to the middle page, memorized the spell for enslaving corpses, and then walked to the corpse.

As the hoarse, low incantation spread through the air, several inexplicable auras suddenly appeared in the cemetery.
