Chapter 2 - The ruins of ancient civilization (Part - 1)

While moving forward the group notice some strange non-magical traps, though none of them was hurt thanks, to an undead stepping on the still functinal traps causing it to explode. This allowed the group to become more vigilant, the mages used their perception magic to notice the trap and warn the group, some of this can simply explode when a living being goes near it, unlike the one before that will explode when someone step on it, of course this was also thanks to another undead walking near it, causing the trap to explode, the group is now convinced that the lady luck is on their side, as they learns about the dangers of those traps with losing their people.

"What are these traps? I thought non-magical traps are not that advanced"

"The non-magical traps I know were spike traps, arrow traps, bear traps and so on, none of which as powerful enough to rival magic traps"

"Could It some kind ancient civilization where people are knowledgable enough to create powerful traps to prtect their land"

"Who knows"

After dodging the traps, the group finally reached the safe zone. They entered a place that looks like some kind of city, the broken huge building, broken glass, strange destroyed vehicles and stone roads.

"Although I don't know what kind of civilization is this, it must have a advanced civilization, I wonder how this civilization falls.

"Yeah, although I don't know extend of it's inhabitants capabilities, they must probably had a better lifestyle than us.

"Let's find a safe place and create a teleportation circle that allow us enter and exit this place as much as want"

"Fine create the teleportation circle"

The group entered a building, which seemed to be some kind of market, infact the word 'supermarket' was written in front of building, the building had many shelves, infact, there were many items there, sadly they were all expired.

"This was definately a wealthy nation, I mean look at those class containers, glass is expensive luxury items that only royality, nobility and wealthy could afford"

"True"

"But how could this civilization fall?"

"Who knows"

The group entered the rooftop, there mages created the a teleportation circle which took a week as teleportation circle is not easy to create in fact it normally take regular mages a whole month to create it, but perhaps, but since, archmage Thomas is here, it took the mages only a week to create it, the mages after creating the teleportation circle also place magical traps and put a barrier to protect the area.

"Let's conclude our journey, since, we entered deep within the cursed land, and found a safe place to place a teleportation circle, we can continue later, let's go home for now"

"Yes, your highness"

Using the teleportation circle they returned the royal palace of Lyria empire. The royal palace was in turmoil due to the news of youngest prince going to the Cursed Land, so, when they saw yougest prince and his group returned safely, they were relieved, of course the Emperor was furious, he summoned the youngest prince to the throne room. Edward entered the throne room, his father Emperor Robert Skysword was sitting one throne, Robert also saw his half siblings and stepmothers sneering at him while his mother and sister were worried about him.

"So, can you explain what you have done"

"I despite the warning from my mother and sister, I went to Cursed Land"

"That's right"

Robert paused a bit and continued.

"I know you are upset, that you lacked magic, and you believed that you let me down, so you tried to do something to earn fame, I understand that much, but that doesn't mean you do something stupid as entering the dangerous place like Cursed Land"

"I am sorry, I just wanted to make you proud, although it won't restore my position of being the genius son, I thought if I achieve a great achievement, I might atleast become someone worthy to be called your son"

The room was silent, of course, it was well known, that youngest prince is most favoured child of the emperor, afterall, the prince is a genius in terms of politics and combat, in fact he was the first choice for being the next ruler before the awakening ceremony, the prince only lacked the ability to use magic, but in other places, he is a prodigy.

"Even so, you could have done something else to make me proud, like improving the trade, industries or perhaps even start a business, there was no need to do this thing"

"I am sorry"

After seeing the youngest prince's remorse, the emperor finally calmed down.

"By the way, did you found something there?"

"You won't believe it"

After this Edward told Robert about everything, about the non-magical undead, a monstrosity that weaken magic users, the strange traps and weapons, glass items, wrecks of strange vehicles, large buildings, roads, and so on.

"An ancient civilization"

"Yeah, it was a large city, which could have been on the most magnificient city, if it wasn't destroyed"

"I understand, although I was more interested on those non-magical undeads and that monstrosity that weakens magic users.

"Yeah, I never heard of an undead that wasn't raised due to influence of magic or necromancy"

"It was really a non-magical undead I saw it through my own eyes"

"But I am more worried about those monstrosities that weaken magic users, if they are allowed to grow in number, they might become a threat to all nearby nations, we must warn other nation"

"I agree to eliminate those creatures but I think we should not warn other nations"

"What? Why?"

"Haven't you heard about glass? I was an expensive comodity, there could be some valuable treasure there, and since no other nation knows about, it is an opportunity for our nation to acquire all the useful remains for our nation before other"

"Also I am interested in those strange weapon and traps in that land, as an alchemist I want to study the technology of that land"

"I also agree that there might be some kind of treasure there, but it all depends on your decision, whether we acquire it or not"

Thus, the emperor Robert started to do some deep thinking.
