Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: Haki Isn't Omnipotent

Nico Robin stood up and walked over to Bahr's side, watching Enel flail about like a headless fly.

As Enel angrily hurled lightning at Perona while desperately dodging the elusive Hollows, he couldn't help but ask with a dark expression, "What exactly is that girl's ability?"

Bahr glanced at Robin and replied nonchalantly, "She already said she's a Spirit Body Human."

He knew perfectly well that the figure jumping around before them was just one of Perona's spiritual clones, while her real body was undoubtedly hidden somewhere in the castle. Attacking it was a complete waste of effort.

Robin immediately understood. Seeing how Bahr had dodged the Hollows earlier, she had guessed he must know the trick to this ability.

As she pondered this, Bahr suddenly teased, "I never thought you'd actually want someone to step on you. You should've said so earlier—I could've obliged."

Robin's face froze, and she glared at him, both embarrassed and angry. "You're truly disgusting!"

Bahr didn't argue. Instead, he suddenly pulled Robin into an embrace and smirked. "This is nothing. I've got even more interesting ideas. We can talk about them in detail once we're back on the ship."

Robin sighed in resignation, knowing full well this man had the temperament of a beast. She didn't bother arguing and quickly changed the subject. "Why aren't you warning Enel?"

Bahr shrugged. "That kid always thinks he's the best in the world. Letting him take a few losses might do him good."

Truth be told, Enel was genuinely skilled—just too arrogant. Bahr had warned him before that Devil Fruit abilities came in all sorts of bizarre forms and that he shouldn't underestimate anyone. But Enel simply refused to listen.

Sometimes, lessons taught by others just wouldn't stick. Only by suffering the consequences himself would he realize his shortcomings.

Enel, having missed his attack, flashed in front of Bahr with a displeased expression. "What the hell is up with that woman? Why doesn't Haki work on her? Didn't you say Haki could grab a Devil Fruit user's real body?"

"Haki isn't omnipotent," Bahr retorted with a hint of sarcasm. "Right now, she's just a spirit. Are you trying to grab thin air with Haki?"

Enel's lips twitched, and he frowned. "What do you mean by that?"

Bahr offered a hint. "Think about it yourself. She already said she's a Spirit Body Human. Why aren't your attacks having any effect?"

After a moment of contemplation, Enel finally realized. "You mean she only has a spiritual form right now, no physical body?"

"Finally, some brain activity," Bahr rolled his eyes. "Don't just charge into fights like a headless fly. Use your brain. The Blue Sea isn't like Sky Island—it's not as easy to navigate as you think."

Enel wasn't actually stupid. He had just spent too long playing "God" on Sky Island, where he could overpower anyone with sheer strength, which had fostered his arrogant attitude.

In short: If my fists are strong enough to crush you, why bother thinking?

Hearing Bahr's words, Enel's lips twitched, but he remained silent. Though he disliked the tone, he knew there was truth to it.

Bahr continued, "Remember this: No matter how powerful an ability is, it has weaknesses. If her spirit is jumping around here, her real body must be hiding nearby. Use your ability to scan the area properly."

Enel's face was full of disdain. He initially wanted to retort that his ability had no weaknesses, but after a moment's thought, he swallowed his words.

Without another word, he followed Bahr's advice and began emitting electrical waves to scan the surroundings.

Their conversation wasn't private, and Perona heard every word. Her eyes widened in alarm, and she couldn't help but shudder.

These two men—one could casually summon lightning, while the other had wiped out the entire Animal Zombie Army with a single wave of his hand—were absolutely terrifying!

"Heh…" Enel suddenly grinned eerily. "Found her! There's a motionless spot about a hundred meters behind us. That must be her real body!"

Perona's face instantly paled. Before she could react, Enel raised a hand toward the sky. "Face God's Sanction!"

In the blink of an eye, a bolt of lightning crashed down from the heavens with a deafening "BOOM," striking the room behind them. A thick cloud of smoke billowed up, and Perona's legs gave out as she collapsed to the floor with a "thud."

"Hey, what do you think you're doing?" Perona, still sitting on the ground, flinched at Enel's roar. She turned to see her physical body suddenly appear in the center of the room.

Her eyes lit up, and she "whooshed" back into her body, frantically checking herself over before sighing in relief. "Phew… still in one piece!"

Bahr glanced at Enel. "Hold on. I've got some questions for her first."

Nico Robin side-eyed Bahr, sneering inwardly: What could he possibly want with this girl? He must've had his eyes on her from the start. Maybe coming to this island was all for her sake.

Enel, however, didn't care. Gnashing his teeth, he spat, "This insignificant insect dared to defy God's authority! My wrath is great—she must pay!"

"If you're that desperate to vent, go pick a fight with Moria," Bahr scoffed, his eyes full of mockery. "Or are you too scared to go alone?"

Enel's lips twitched violently, and he let out a heavy snort through his nose. Closing his eyes, he let electricity crackle faintly around him, as if searching for something.

A moment later, his eyes snapped open. Swinging his golden staff in an arc, he raised his chin arrogantly and declared in an imperious tone, "Hmph! This God shall first teach that Seven Warlord a lesson, then return to settle accounts with this brat!"

Before the words had fully left his mouth, his body flashed with blue light, and he vanished in an instant.

Robin watched the spot where Enel had disappeared and couldn't help but warn, "His opponent is a Seven Warlord. Are you really letting him go alone?"

"Relax," Bahr waved dismissively. "That guy might be full of himself, but his strength is real. Gekko Moria isn't a threat to him."

With the Rumble-Rumble Fruit and Observation Haki, Enel already had the power of a Seven Warlord—something even the World Government acknowledged.

Though Moria was a veteran Warlord, ever since his defeat by Kaido, his personality had changed drastically. He'd holed up on Thriller Bark, wasting away, his willpower long eroded—just like Crocodile.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have been taken down by the Straw Hat Boy.

Besides, even if Enel couldn't win, escaping would be child's play with his abilities.

And if, by some chance, he actually lost… Well, if someone with the supposedly "strongest Logia-type" Rumble-Rumble Fruit was that pathetic, then Enel was simply useless and not worth keeping around anyway.

"Now then…" Bahr's gaze settled on Perona, who was still relieved to be unharmed. A faint smile curled at his lips.

Perona's heart lurched violently. When she met Bahr's eyes, that seemingly gentle smile looked to her like the grin of a demon. Her legs trembled uncontrollably, rooted to the spot as if nailed down.

As Bahr stepped closer, she instinctively shrank back, her voice quivering. "W-what do you want?!"
